Review: Ann Taylor Petite Slim Knit Pant in 0P

If you’re a petite, you know how hard it is to find a great pair of pants. Finding a pair of pants that fit is truly a nightmare. Till this day, I haven’t really found anything that I truly love (except the popular LOFT Equestrian Wool Trousers from last year). Imagine how excited I was when Ann Taylor offered me a $100 gift card to try on their pants.

Weekend Fun: Boston Weekend Trip

As some of you may already know, I flew out to Boston for the blogger meetup this weekend and to spend some time with Jean. I was extremely excited for this trip since I have never been to Boston. It's one of the cities that I'd love to visit. At the very last minute, I've learnt that Ping also flew in for the meetup. It was such a pleasant surprise.

One of my coworkers has talked to me about Hurricane Irene before I leave. I was going to change my flight but decided not to as I didn't take that seriously. To make it short, the airline cancelled my flight not once but twice due to the hurricane. I had no choice but to fly home the very next day. I am glad Ping and I made it home safe and sound!

Review: Express 3/4 sleeve striped dress in XS

I finally had some time to do a proper review for this Express 3/4 sleeve striped dress even though I’ve been wearing it non-stop.  A t-shirt dress had been on my wish list for quite some time. I was looking for something that is suitable for both work and play. I spotted this dress a few weeks ago at Express and felt in love.

Weekend Fun: We went hiking

My husband and I are so different in many ways. He is an outdoor type of person. White water rafting, water ski, snow ski, you name it and he's done it all! I am, in the other hand, not so much of an outdoor person. I rather stay inside watching E! or go shopping =) One of his fantasies is to walk across the Appalachian Trail. No kidding! The trail is only roughly 2180 miles long and passing through 14 states =) We talked about spending a week to walk a portion of the trail one day. I am not sure if we ever have a chance to do experience it. Hopefully, we will one day.

Feelin' Neutral & Burberry Smoked Check Satchel

Even though I have been wearing and enjoying brights lately, I am still a neutral girl at heart. My closet is dominated by beige, white and grey. I feel more comfortable wearing neutral colors than I do bold colors. When Simply Audrey asked me to pick out a courtesy item, I was immediately drawn to this cascading ruffles tank. The owner of Simply Audrey kindly offered a free shipping code for you ladies. Enter code "PetiteLittleGirl" at checkout to get free shipping on your entire purchase (domestic buyers only - ends 08.31)

Closet Remix: My Pre-Fall Look

The weather has cooled down some this past week and I am loving it. It's starting to feel like Fall. Fall is absolutely my favorite season. I've already bought some Fall clothes that I'm itching to wear. With early morning temperatures around the mid 60s, I thought it was a perfect excuse to take my leopard cardigan out for a spin.

Weekend Fun: Dinner with friends

It’s kind of funny that people tend to think fashion bloggers seem to shop all the time. On more than one occasion, people have asked me what do I do on the weekend besides shopping. I don’t always go shopping on the weekend especially not every weekend. I do things like a typical person would do such as cooking, running errands, hanging out with my family/friends on the weekend. This is a personal style blog so a majority of my posts are fashion-related. It doesn’t mean that shopping is all I do. However, to add a bit of variety to this blog, I want to dedicate Sunday’s posts to highlight one thing that I did that weekend.

Fitting Room Review: Banana Republic's Mad Men Collection

The Banana Republic Mad Men collection is available in stores and online today. I wasn’t going to check it out since there wasn’t anything online that made it appealing to me. All the talk on Twitter got me curious. I decided to stop by the mall after work to check it out. I have to say the collection is rather disappointing. There wasn’t a single item available in petite sizes at my local store. Below are items that I tried on (all in regular sizes). I hope to give you an idea in terms of how these items would fit on you if you’re thinking about ordering online. The SA told me they won't replenish once the items sold out.

1. Leopard print trench ($198.00) - Size XS Regular
I have no intention of buying this trench regardless of the fit. It's just not really my style. I am only showing you how it looks on me. The length is good for my frame but sleeves are too long. The fabric is very thin and feels plastic-like.

Closet Remix: Uninspired outfit

I am feeling rather uninspired lately. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it's because of my busy work schedule or just because of the unpredictable weather. Sometimes I just want to throw on whatever I can grab out of my closet in the morning and walk out the door. This is just one of those uninspired outfits. There is nothing special about it. I do try and give a glimpse into what I am wearing most days. I love showing off my latest finds and styling abilities but in reality, that is not always the case. One thing about this outfit that worth mentioning is the price tag of this skirt. I picked it up last month at a Banana Republic outlet store and paid a grand total of $3.49 for it (was $69.95). Size 0R was, of course, too big on me. For $3.49, I wanted to take it home and try to shrink it. After 2 attempts, I successfully shrunk this skirt to the size I want it to be at =)

What I am wearing:
Skirt: BR oulet store - size 0R (buy similar here)
Cardigan: Express - size XS - really old (buy similar here)
Necklace: J.Crew glass pearl necklace (buy longer version here)
Shoes: Talbots chunky heel city sandals (buy here)

Closet Remix: Playing with color

My style has definitely changed since I started this blog. I've learned (and am still learning) so much from other fashion bloggers. I feel much more comfortable wearing color. I also try to be creative and wear what I have in my closet different ways. I bought this romper for my vacation a few months ago. After a wash, it became too short (the typical quality of F21 clothing). Instead of letting it go, I decided to wear it as a top because I love the color so much. More than likely, this is how I will wear it from now on (see the romper version here).

Meeting a local blogger & Blank NYC cargo skinny

One thing I love about blogging is "meeting" new friends. Living in a very small city, the chance to meet local bloggers in person is very slim. I thought I might be the only blogger who are from Ohio. Few months ago, Danielle of A Love Affair With Paper sent me an email asking for a tailor recommendation. Although I couldn’t help her much since I don’t have a regular tailor, I am glad to know a local blogger. One day, she said she has won a pair of skinny cargos from Lucky magazine but they were a bit small for her. She was wondering if I am interested. Of course, I am! Since I didn't own any skinny cargos previously, I was happy to take them off her hands. We met after work for a cup of coffee and a bit of shopping. It was just a fun and relaxing evening. Too bad that neither one of us brought our cameras. The iphone pic was just too blurry to share. Thank you so much, Danielle for thinking of me. A dinner date already planned for the 4 of us! I'll be sure to bring the proper camera with me this time =)

Reader Corner: How to shop for petite-friendly maternity wear

I recently got an email from a reader. I thought it would be fun to share my experiences:

I've been following your blog but have never posted anything = ) I am about 3 months pregnant now. I've put on about 8 lbs since but still can fit into XS stuff. I am wondering if you could share any tips on shopping for petite-friendly maternity clothes. I am from Singapore but shop compulsively on US sites.

First of all, congrats on being pregnant! Pregnancy can be one of the most exciting times of a woman's life. With my first pregnancy, I was lucky that I didn’t have to buy a whole lot of maternity clothes. At that time, I worked in a very casual work environment. I bought a couple pairs of maternity jeans and a few oversized T-shirts. I wore those items throughout my pregnancy. Here are some do's and don'ts while shopping for materinity wear:

Upgraded!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I pretty much spent the entire weekend outside. We enjoyed the trip to Kings Island even though I forgot to put the battery back into the camera after I charged it. Duh! Yes, it happens more than I’d like to admit. I think little one enjoyed the trip even more without the camera. You know you're old when you can’t even handle one of those “adult” roller coasters. Kiddie rides are still giving me headache LOL. On Sunday, we spent a few hours by the pool. I'm trying to enjoy summer as much as I can. Fall will be here before we know it!

I still haven’t figured out how to fix my personal laptop yet. I’ve been using my work laptop for a week now. It’s a temporary solution since I don’t want to put too much personal stuff on work laptop. Much to my surprise, hubby brought home an Ipad 2. He said “ I can’t bear the fact that you don’t have a laptop. I know how much you love your blog” =) I think he was just trying to find an excuse to get an iPad. Whatever the reasons, I am not going to argue. How could you say no to this little gadget, right?

Other than downloading a bunch of educational apps for little one (word bingo, anyone?), I haven’t really had time to play with it yet. Does anyone have any apps/tips that they would recommend or share?

P.S: Last day to enter my giveaway for a chance to win a $30.00 gift code to Stella & Dot! Winner will be announced tomorrow!
