09.27.2012

Where do I begin? It's been an eventful first 2 weeks in our household. Baby M is 12 days old and doing wonderful. With everything going on, we almost forgot today is our anniversary. We had tears in our eyes when the "bigger" one gave us a card this morning. It's the best and sweetest card we've ever received - although, she needs to learn how to spell the word "funniest" correctly =). I have so much to be thankful for - my family, my 2 beautiful girls and my beloved husband. It's not always sunshine and rainbows but even when it's hard, I know I'll have all the support and love I could ever ask for. Words cannot express how much I love my family. Happy Anniversary to my dear husband. Thank you for being you, for being an amazing man and more importantly, thank you for being totally committed to me, to us and to our girls.

Today is D-day!

This is it, guys! Today is the day (thank you, scheduled c-section). This pregnancy goes so fast yet so slow. It would be an understatement to say that this pregnancy is tougher than the last one. The first part of the pregnancy was a breeze. Although, the second part was a different story. I was diagnosed around 27 weeks with placenta previa. There was all sorts of unexpected issues associated with it. It's been tough for me but I know it'll all be worth it in the end.

I would be lying if I told you I am not scared. I'm nervous, scared, but excited at the same time. I have so many mixed emotions running through my head right now. It's 5:00 in the morning and my little one (soon to be the bigger one) is wide awake and ready to go. My whole family is here with me as well. There is no doubt that I will be in good hands. We can't wait to welcome baby Madelyn to this world!

{Can't wait to add the newest member of our family to the back of the car}

David Yurman 5mm classic bracelet in Blue Topaz

Besides my lovely new bag, I also received the David Yurman 5mm cable bracelet as a present for my birthday. It was a complete surprise. I didn't expect the second gift at all. I didn't go with my husband when he picked up this bracelet. However, he did share a few things that he learned from a sales associate with me.

Width:
The most commonly worn size is the 5mm and the 7mm. It all depends on what feels best to you. The 5mm looks more delicate and feminine on the wrist while the 7mm looks more bold and hipper. The 5mm will look better when layering with another bracelet/watch while the 7mm is best worn on its own as a standout piece. Since I have thin wrists, the 5mm suits me better. I suggest you to try them both to figure out which one fit your personal taste better.

Color:
He wanted to get a piece of jewelry in the color of my birthstone. Since my birth month is September, the closest option is the Blue topaz. This specific style is only available in 6 colors: Amethyst, Blue topaz, Pearl, Citrine, Peridot and Onyx. If your birth month is May (Emerald) or July (Ruby), you may have to consider other colors as your birthstones are not available.

Diameter:
This bracelet is available in small, medium and large sizes. However, most stores have different widths of cable but only the medium for the length/diameter. He ended up getting the medium for my birthday but ordered a size small to fit my wrist better. It'll take 12 weeks for the bracelet to arrive. Yes..12 weeks! More than likely, I won’t have my bracelet until Christmas =(

A couple of other things:
  • These bracelets are somewhat adjustable. If they’re just a tad big for your wrist, you might be able to get away with it by bending the 2 ends together.
  • Keep in mind that these bracelets are also available in the Cable Kids Collection. I believe they come in a width of 4mm only. Although, the width is a tad small for me, the diameter/length would be perfect.

I mentioned to my husband that I’d love to own this bracelet sometime in the future. It’s a classic, timeless yet understated piece of jewelry. I have a few pieces from Tiffany & Co but truthfully, I am not really a fan. They tarnish every time I wear them. I am very excited to have this bracelet as this is my first David Yurman piece. I hope you find this post useful. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask =)

Something new

I turned a year older today! Pretty exciting, huh? Not really =) I never make a big deal out of my birthday even when I was young. I've always been pretty low-key with my birthday celebrations. However, on my birthday, I like to take a moment and reflect back on my life and where I am today.

September holds a special place in my heart. It's not only my birthday month, it's also our anniversary month. It's very important as you celebrate your marriage anniversary, to remember why you fell in love. This is the time to pause and reflect over the last years that you've been together. What makes our anniversary even more special this year is the birth of baby Madelyn.

OK..so enough with the mushy stuff =) Let's talk about the fun stuff. Say hello to my birthday/anniversary/push present – The Chanel jumbo flap in caviar. By the way, the first time I heard “push present” was from the talented Sew Petite Gal. I had no idea what it was before but think it's a beautiful concept!

Even though, I've done fairly extensive research online before purchasing my first Chanel, there are a couple things I wish I had done differently.

1. Caviar vs. lambskin: I love the feel and texture of the lambskin but boy, it's hard to care for and scuff easily. I really don't baby my bags. I am a firm believer that luxury goods are there to be enjoyed, I just have to find ways to take more care of it. Caviar would be so much easier to take care of and also keeps its shape better than the lambskin.

Madelyn’s Nursery Reveal

Madelyn's nursery is finally done! We’re super thrilled to be able to share with you guys. It certainly has been a labor of love. As mentioned before, I didn't want the nursery to get overly cutesy. We wanted to create a room that we could keep fairly gender neutral with touches of pink. It's a very neutral nursery with nothing too flashy. For those who have been waiting for the reveal, I hope its simplicity doesn't disappoint you =)

I went back and forth between between the girly girl white furniture set and the dark espresso for our baby girl for weeks. At the end, we decided to go with the dark espresso furniture. I love the look of white furniture, it is so feminine and happy looking. However, it does seem to get dirty easier. Dark furniture also gives the nursery an intimate and cozy feel.
