Besides my
lovely new bag, I also received the
David Yurman 5mm cable bracelet as a present for my birthday. It was a complete surprise. I didn't expect the second gift at all. I didn't go with my husband when he picked up this bracelet. However, he did share a few things that he learned from a sales associate with me.
Width:
The most commonly worn size is the 5mm and the 7mm. It all depends on what feels best to you. The 5mm looks more delicate and feminine on the wrist while the 7mm looks more bold and hipper.
The 5mm will look better when layering with another bracelet/watch while
the 7mm is best worn on its own as a standout piece. Since I have thin wrists, the 5mm suits me better. I suggest you to try them both to figure out which one fit your personal taste better.
Color:
He wanted to get a piece of jewelry in the color of my birthstone. Since my birth month is September, the closest option is the Blue topaz. This specific style is only available in 6 colors:
Amethyst,
Blue topaz,
Pearl,
Citrine,
Peridot and
Onyx. If your birth month is May (Emerald) or July (Ruby), you may have to consider other colors as your birthstones are not available.
Diameter:
This bracelet is available in small, medium and large sizes. However, most stores have different widths of cable but only the medium for the length/diameter. He ended up getting the medium for my birthday but ordered a size small to fit my wrist better. It'll take 12 weeks for the bracelet to arrive. Yes..12 weeks! More than likely, I won’t have my bracelet until Christmas =(
A couple of other things:
- These bracelets are somewhat adjustable. If they’re just a tad big for your wrist, you might be able to get away with it by bending the 2 ends together.
- Keep in mind that these bracelets are also available in the Cable Kids Collection. I believe they come in a width of 4mm only. Although, the width is a tad small for me, the diameter/length would be perfect.
I mentioned to my husband that I’d love to own this bracelet sometime in the future. It’s a classic, timeless yet understated piece of jewelry. I have a few pieces from Tiffany & Co but truthfully, I am not really a fan. They tarnish every time I wear them. I am very excited to have this bracelet as this is my first
David Yurman piece. I hope you find this post useful. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask =)
