It feels like spring

So as we all know, the weather has been pretty crazy lately. A couple weeks ago, we had the single-digit weather. Today I'm taking full advantage of the 60-degree weather and wearing my new dress in bare legs. I've always admired the iconic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress but I know I can't afford one. Hence, I am always on the lookout for similar (and affordable) versions. Jean tweeted about this dress a while a back and it was truly love at first sight for me. Unfortunately, small sizes are long gone online and it was nowhere to be found in stores. I basically gave up looking for it.

What I am wearing:
Dress: GAP printed wrap dress - size XSP (gifted by Jean)
Jacket: Ann Taylor Boulevard trench (buy this year's version)
Necklace: Amrita Singh Montauk (buy similar)
Sunglasses: Kate Spade Gayla
Nail polish: Revlon Vixen

Winter Wonderland

Another snowstorm hits the Midwest today. As much as I hate driving in the snow, I couldn't resist taking pictures of the freshly falling snow today. It’s just so beautiful and magical. This J.Crew double-cloth slim trench has to be my absolute favorite purchase this year. It's blistering cold out but this jacket keeps me toasty. Although it may seem like I am not dressed properly for cold weather.

  What I am wearing:
Jacket: J.Crew double-cloth slim trench - size 00R
Tee: Forever 21 striped peplum tee - size S
Jeans: Forever 21 classic denim skinny jeans - size 25
Scarf: Express infinity leopard scarf
Gloves: J.Crew cashmere-lined leather gloves
Watch: Movado Serio
Boots: Banana Republic (buy this year's version)
Sunglasses: Selima for J.Crew (buy similar)
Belt: H&M (buy similar)

Lunch break shopping

I made a trip to the mall during lunch today looking for some thick heavy sweaters for my ski trip this weekend. I walked out with only one item but wanted to share a few quick fitting room pics.

Banana Republic – Take an additional 50% off already reduced women’s items during “Happy Hours” (from 5-8 PM local time tonight). I looked through the sale section but didn't find anything interesting. Although, I did buy this belt yesterday. As expected, the XS fits me well. You can score this belt later today for $6.00 in stores.

DIY: A full circle skirt

Inspired by a few petite bloggers, learning about sewing is starting to interest me. I altered some of my skirts here and here but have never made anything from scratch. Last week, I decided to make my first piece of clothing – a full circle skirt. The concept is simple but it took me quite some time to finish the skirt (with the help of my dear mother). I am so excited about this skirt that I wore it out before finishing the hem =) The raw edge is not visible from afar. I will finish the hem and do a separate post to show you how to make this skirt if you’re interested.

Review: Me Too Dee riding boots

I apologize in advance for this belated review. I bought these boots a few months ago but haven't had a chance to do a proper review for you guys. I appreciate bloggers who do reviews in a timely manner. One of the items on my Fall/Winter wish-list this year was a pair of riding boots. It's always a challenge for me to find a pair of narrow-shaft boots that fit and look good. After a few weeks of searching, I ordered the Me Too Dee riding boots to try.

Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of Me Too shoes. This is my third pair from this brand. I've found that Me Too shoes are very comfortable in general. These boots are made out of 100% leather. What I love about these boots is that the leather felt soft but sturdy enough to survive scrapes against curbs or steps. No break in period is required! I actually prefer round toes for extra comfort. I also like the minimal design. An 1.5" inch heel really helps to make me look taller without sacrificing comfort.

I wear between a 6.5 and 7 in most shoes and I ordered these in a 7. I ordered a half size up to compensate for thicker winter socks or layered pants. As you can see in the photos below, a size 7 fits me like a dream. The Me Too Dee riding boots featuring an easy on and off inside zippers, 14.5" shaft height, and 14" boot circumference. These measurements are ideal for me. They fit over jeans, leggings, tights and bare legs just fine. These boots are available in black and brown (regular and wide calf).

These boots are certainly made for walking. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with them and know they will serve me well for many winters to come. I typically don't buy duplicate items but I might make an exception and get the brown ones as well =)

Weekend wear: Sweatshirt

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It's been a warm but rainy weekend in central Ohio. I wore this outfit to lunch at my parents today. I had my eyes on this sweatshirt when the Neiman Marcus x Target collection first came out. I was super excited to find it on clearance in my local Target for a mere $8.99. It's super comfortable and easy to wear. This is my kind of outfit for the weekend.

What I am wearing:
Sweatshirt: Proenza Schouler Sweatshirt - size XS (70% off)
Jeans: c/o Petite Legs (buy similar)
Rain boots: Banana Republic (buy this year's version

Monotone

Although I enjoy adding a splash of color to almost any outfit, some days, I just want to wear something simple and unpretentious. To give this outfit an interesting depth, I mixed just enough different textures and neutral shades. I know what you’re thinking – Isn't it a bit cold for bare legs =)? Growing up in the Midwest, I am used to the cold. As long as the sun is shining, it’s not too bad.

What I am wearing:
Skirt: H&M *old* (buy similar - available in 00)
Sweater: GAP (buy this year's version - 35% off)
Pumps: Steve Madden (buy similar in nude or navy)
Jacket: Espirit *old* (buy similar - on sale)
