Knotted shirt

I bought this BB Dakota William skirt from Hautelook last month but didn't have a chance to wear it until now. BB Dakota is a juniors clothing brand so their clothes do run small in general. I own a few pieces from them and typically wear anything between a size 2 and 4. I am glad I ordered this skirt in a 4 because it runs super small. I really like the look of it but unfortunately, it’s a bit sheer. I wore this Spanx half slip underneath to conceal everything. I decided to knot this button down shirt for a casual look. I then finished off the outfit with a pair of flat sandals. I am totally loving the cut and the pattern of this thin striped shirt. The shirt is slim throughout but the length is long enough to tie a knot. You know some shirts are fitted but also short at the same time? Not in this case. It's very lightweight, breathable and perfect for the summer.

What I am wearing:
Skirt: BB Dakota William - size 4 (also available in blue and coral)
Shirt: Chicnova stripe cotton blouse c/o - size S
Watch: Daniel Wellington in silver

White on White

There's nothing like a fresh white tee for summer. I'm usually not one to buy duplicates but this tee was an exception. Since it has been in heavy rotation all summer, I did buy multiple backups. A white tee is much more versatile than I give it credit for. I've worn this tee countless time on this blog. This time, I decided to veer into the white on white trend and am loving the end result. The outfit is so fresh and clean and of course, very summery =)

What I am wearing:
Tee: Forever 21 v-neck tee - size L (size up to get that slouchy look)
Denim: GAP always skinny jeans (on sale!)
Jacket: H&M (buy similar here or here)
Necklace: Amrita Singh *old*
Lipstick: MAC creme cup

A Sunday hike

In the summertime, we always try to squeeze in a weekend hike. It is one of our favorite activities to do. Hiking as a family allows us to enjoy time together while staying fit and healthy. It’s also a great way to show the kids how great the outdoors can be. We are lucky to live so close to such great parks and plan to take full advantage of what nature has to offer. Now the little one is a bit older, she seems to enjoy it too but always fall asleep at the end of the hike =) Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Style remix: Spotted dress

It's been exactly one year since I last wore this dress. I bought it when I was 32 weeks pregnant. Without the belly, this dress looks like a potato sack on me. Thanks to Jean's tip, the belt nipped everything in and made it wearable. Since it's a straight-cut dress, there is more fabric to crunch in. It doesn't look nice and neat like Jean's dress. Although, I do not mind. I think it gives the outfit some casualness and doesn't make me look like I was trying so hard when I actually did =) Happy Friday, everyone (finally)!

Products I love: Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream

Although this is a fashion blog, I love reading reviews on tried and true non-fashion items. With that in mind, I am starting a new series called “Products I love” to share some of my favorites. I hope you find it useful and would love to hear your thoughts as well. Today, I am going to talk about a new product I've discovered a month ago – Smashbox camera ready CC cream broad spectrum SPF 30 dark spot correcting. I’m definitely not a makeup junkie. All my makeup basics like mascara, eyeliner and blush are drugstore products. However, if there is one product I must invest in, it would be a great foundation. I've been using MUFF Mat Velvet (shade 40) for quite some time. I do love it but am due for a new foundation. After reading quite a few online reviews, I decided to give Smashbox CC cream a try. I never got into the BB cream craze but thought CC might be good for me because of some dark spots. In short, CC products (stands for color correcting) are supposed to help you achieve a perfect complexion. Guess what? Makeup companies are now releasing DD Cream (Dynamic Do-all). Isn't that crazy? Anyway, I've been using Smashbox CC cream for about a month now and I can’t really complain.

What I like:
  • It comes in a plastic tube like most tinted moisturizers and makes travel easier.
  • Gotta love an all-in-one product.
  • It's breathable and provides good coverage.
  • It blends well and makes my pores look smaller.
  • The light shade matches my skin perfectly. It seemed too light on me at first but will oxidize and match my skin seamlessly after a few minutes.

My very first race!

I ran my very first 5K this morning. I know 5K isn't groundbreaking but I am still pretty proud of myself. A month ago, I couldn't run a mile without stopping. This morning, it took me less than 30 minutes to finish. I am still waiting for the official results. I was surprised to find that I actually enjoyed the way it made me feel. Thanks to the whole family who got up early and came out to support me. The race was really fun. My friend and I are already looking forward to our next race on 9/11 =) Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Lace shorts

I wore this outfit to my oldest girl's birthday pool party last weekend. Pull-on style with elasticized waist makes these shorts super comfortable. Since the shorts happen to be the statement piece, it is important to keep the rest of the outfit simple. I paired them with a plain black tee that I picked up a few days ago at Forever 21. I am officially obsessed with these incredible soft tees. I now own 7 of these in various colors. I typically don’t wear black but love the contrast of the top and the bottom. Looking for more ideas on how to style lace shorts? Check out Jessy's post! The little one had fun with her friends at the pool for the last time this summer. I can't believe she is going back school next week. Where did the summer go?

What I am wearing:
Bottom: c/o Chicnova *out of stock* (buy the black version)
Sunglasses: Kate Spade Gayla

Review: Articles of Society Mya Skinny jeans

I rarely wear jeans but am always on the lookout for a good pair. A few months ago, I bought these J.Brand 901 skinnies and have been wearing them repeatedly on the weekend. I’d love to own a few different shades but the price tag isn't exactly wallet-friendly. If you're a long time follower of this blog, you'll know I always tend to look for affordable options when it comes to shopping. Back in June, Articles of Society (AOS) has introduced me to their denim collection. The thought of wearing jeans in 90-degree weather making me sweat. I am glad that it's finally cool enough to take these jeans out for a spin.

I am wearing the Mya skinny in this post. Fabric contains 78% cotton, 20% polyester % spandex. They feel very comfortable and stretchy. When I first tried them on, I noticed how soft they are against my skin. I made sure to wear them for the entire day so I can really test them out. They didn't stretch out or loose their shape during a full-day of wearing.

What I am wearing:
Bottom: AOS Mya skinnies in light wash - size 25
Tee: Forever 21 - size L (love it so much!)
Blazer: Ann Taylor strip jacket - size 00P
