Best & Worst Luxury Purchases

Luxury goods come with hefty price tags. However, not all luxury items will make you feel like a million bucks. For this week's handbag chit chat, I wanted to highlight 2 of my luxury items - one being my best purchase and the other one being my worst purchase to date.

Let's start off with my best luxury purchase - this little Chanel wallet on chain. I was skeptical about it at first because of the size. However, after owning it for more than a year, it's hands down one of my best purchases. I wear it countless times and it works well for the day to night transition. The wallet is compact yet holds all my essentials. This versatile piece can be worn so many different ways. If you're looking into purchase your very first Chanel piece, I highly suggest looking into this little beauty. Kate Spade has a very similar version at a lower price point.

On the opposite end of the spectrum - these Valentino rockstud pumps was my worst luxury purchase. If you follow fashion blogs then you probably are sick of seeing these pumps. They're everywhere and certainly look good in photos. These shoes were purchased at the FCO airport during our trip to Europe earlier this year. I bought them for several reasons: they were significantly cheaper in Italy, I felt pressure to get something as a "souvenir" from our trip, I thought I needed them in my life because they are the "it" shoes. When I had a chance to wear them out (almost 6 months later), they didn't do anything for me. They just didn't excite me. I know it's silly but for a pair of shoes that costs over $1K, you should be over the moon wearing them. I finally decided to find a new home for them. Luckily, because of the price difference, I was able to get most of my money back. I come to the conclusion that I won't invest in designer shoes from now on. Oftentimes, I wonder if high priced items are worth it. Hope to give you some insight so that you can make your own judgement when it comes to purchasing luxury items.

  1. this is a great post...investing in quality pieces are great and everyone loves those designer items but its also important to note if you will use them, if they go with your lifestyle and if you will make use of them coz at the end of the day, if you doesnt do you any good, it isnt worth it :)

  5. Im so happy that you talked about the valentino shoes. I purchased a pair of the caged flats last year for sale at $537 (amazing price) and was so excited when i got it but a few months later I tried it on again and it did nothing for me and its just not practical for work. end up going to a new home but the new owner loved it!
