Packing for Europe (Part III): Camera gear and electronic devices

Today, I am sharing my camera gear and electronic devices as the final installment of my "Packing for Europe" series (part I and part II). It might seem a little overkill when it comes to my camera gear but each lens can serve different purposes. My husband and I both enjoy photography and don't mind packing an extra lens or two for this trip. I bought the Sony point-and-shoot camera recently and am really loving it. Obviously, I can't live without my DSLR but sometimes, it's nice to have something in between a DSLR camera and the convenient smartphone. Pictures are amazing! I highly recommend this little guy if you're in the market for one. I also borrowed this Sony camcorder from my Dad. I haven't used it prior to the trip so I don't know much about it.

Packing for Europe (Part II): How I pack my carry-on

PackingCubes_SydneysFashionDiary

Today, I am showing you guys how I pack my carry on. Everything should be self-explanatory. I am a huge fan of packing cubes. They make packing and unpacking so much quicker (especially if you will be moving from one city to the next in a short period of time). This set from the Sharper Image comes with 3 cubes (large, medium and small). I use the large size for all my clothes, the medium one for shoes and the small one for my make up and everything else. Everything fit neatly inside my carry on. I am not sure if you can tell but there's still quite a bit of room left. Thank you for all of the suggestions on my last post, I decided to pack my beloved denim jacket as well as a couple sweaters. The last thing I want to do is walking around the city all day freezing.

I did a ton of research and ended up purchasing the Bric's 21" Pininfarina carry-on. I am seriously in love with it. It's super lightweight, the capacity is much greater than it looks and the exterior design is beautiful. I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on the quality.

Bric's Luggage Pininfarina_SydneysFashionDiary

Can we take a moment to acknowledge how adorable is this carry on? I had a hard time finding an "age-appropriate" luggage for my daughter. She wanted something fun but not kiddie-looking. We saw this one online and knew right away it was the one. Everything is so perfect from the dollhouse theme to the polka dot lining.

Packing for Europe (Part I): 7 days - 7 pieces - 7 outfits

I am super stoked to be traveling to Europe with my family for Spring break. It's my absolute dream vacation. We talked about this trip years ago and I can't believe it's finally happening. For a week long trip, we decided that we will be traveling with carry-ons only. By doing so, not only will we be saving a ton of time but also able to avoid checked bags fees and lost luggage incidents. In order to fit everything in a carry on, you must plan ahead. Below is how I use 7 pieces to put together 7 different outfits.
7 pieces 7 outfits, packing light_SydneysFashionDiary
1. Chambray shirt *old* (many options available here)
2. Black distressed denim (another identical version here)
3. Neon skirt (I picked this skirt up last week and I L.O.V.E it! It's available in 4 colors and I am wearing a size 00 here)
4. Boyfriend jeans (non-distressed version)
5. Burberry trench coat
6. Graphic tee - This tee is another item that I picked up last week and love! I got it in a size small and it has the perfect "oversize" fit.
7. c/o ASOS green skater dress - Since most of my outfits are more on the casual side , I decided to bring something a little dressier to wear to dinner. We booked a dinner cruise for one of the nights in Paris and I am planning to wear this dress.

Planned outfits:
Outfit # 1: 1 + 4
Outfit # 2: 4 + 6
Outfit # 3: 1 + 3
Outfit # 4: 3 + 6
Outfit # 5: 1 + 2 - Travel day outfit
Outfit # 6: 2 + 6 - Travel day outfit
Outfit #7: 5 + 7
7 pieces 7 outfits_ packing light_SydneysFashionDiary

Footwear:
I am bringing with me one pair of boots (to wear on travel days), one pair of slip-on sneakers and one pair of high heels (to wear on a riverboat dinner cruise only). I originally planned to bring my Tieks flats but am afraid they don't provide enough support for walking around the city all day. The boots I plan to wear with outfit #5 and #6 on travel days are with the cobbler at the moment (hence why I am barefoot in both photos). I also picked up these slip-on sneakers from Target and they're like heaven for my feet (currently buy one get one 50% off).

I hope you find this post helpful. Next, I will talk about how I fit everything pictured here plus the rest of my stuff into one carry on. Stay tuned!

Review: Sperry for J.Crew Leather Shearwater Boots

The weather is so unpredictable in March. What else is new, right? It was beautiful one minute and there was snow on the ground the next. On a positive note, I feel like it's the right time to do this review and not feel so out of place. Going into March, I was not planning to buy anymore winter apparel until next season. As a matter of fact, I haven't purchased anything since Christmas but I'll save my thoughts for another post. After weeks of non-stop snowing, I caved in and bought these snow boots. I went snow tubing in these a few weekends ago and am in love
SnowTubing1

These boots were clearly made for cold situations featuring waterproof rubber soles and 100% wool shearing lining. They are built for snow and provide outstanding comfort. After reading the reviews online, I decided to go up one whole size. I am typically between an 6.5 and 7 and and ended up taking these in a 8 to accommodate thicker socks. The side zipper is a great bonus. That way, I don't have to mess with the laces

A pair of snow boots was missing in my closet and I am glad to have purchased these. If you live in a cold climate, I highly recommend these boots (currently on sale). My Hunter rain boots are excellent for rain and slushy conditions but definitely do not keep my feet warm. These boots are stylish, functional and a must have for a Midwest winter. You can also purchase the original Sperry version

15K Training - Week 5

**All photos were taken with the Canon 6D camera and the Canon 85mm F1.8 lens**

My 15K race is getting closer - that means I have to keep up with my training. Not going to lie - it's tough (especially those weekend long runs). However, things begin to warm up and it does help quite a bit. Running outside and getting fresh air instantly puts me in a better mood. Although the dreaded treadmill did get me through our brutal winter here in the Midwest. Below is the recap of my training (week #5). I ran a total of 16 miles that week. I have 3 weeks left to work up to 9 miles. Yikes! As mentioned regularly, cute workout clothes are definitely a huge inspiration for me. I seriously love all the fun prints and bright colors Kyodan activewear offers this season. You can check out other workout outfits from Kyodan activewear that I have featured here and here.

Camel Cape & Floral Wrap Dress

CamelCape_SydneysFashionDiary

The cape coat trend is something I've been admiring a lot on other people. Being on 5'2, it's tough to pull off the trend without looking like a superwoman. When saw this cape online, I knew I had to give it a try. It looks like a classic camel pea coat without sleeves =)  For those who are interested, the coat runs really narrow. Measurements are as follows: shoulder-to-shoulder = 13"  and overall length = 27". This type of outerwear is perfect during this time of the year when you need extra layer of warmth but don't necessarily need a heavy jacket. I wore the cape over my spring dress and am really loving the color palette.

B&W Striped Dress & Denim Jacket

**All photos were taken with the Canon 6D camera and the Canon 85mm F1.8 lens**

The weather was insanely gorgeous last weekend. I was super excited to bring out my denim jacket for the first time this season. This H&M jacket is almost 3 years old and still one of my absolute favorite things to wear. Every girl needs a little striped dress. I got a similar one from Express years ago and have been wearing it to death. After many washes, it shrunk quite a bit. I was on the lookout for a replacement. This particular one is exactly what I was looking for (not to mention it's super affordable too). The dress made out of thick Ponte material. I sized up to a medium for a relaxed look.

Spring is calling: Floral Blouse & Cobalt Blue Skirt

JCrewNo2Skirt_SydneysFashionDiary

The temperature is not exactly "warm" yet but it's getting there. When it reaches 50 degrees, I am itching for bare legs. One of my must have Spring pieces is a floral blouse. It instantly adds happiness to an outfit. I don't know if Asia-based retailers have stepped up their game or if it was just my luck but I am impressed with all the items I have received as of late. Besides this dress and this jacket, this blouse is another yay for me. It made out of thick polyester material (hence, winkle-free) and the print is very pretty and vibrant in person. I am very cautious in recommending items from Asia based e-commerce sites but I strongly do recommend this blouse if you're looking in the market for one. Happy Friday! - for real =)

ESQIDO Unforgettable Lashes

UnforgettableLashes_SydneysFashionDiary
{ESQIDO Unforgettable lashes - trimmed to fit my eye shape}

With a history of mascular degeneration, I don't wear eye makeup most days. However, once in awhile, I do enjoy putting on a pair of false eyelashes. The Ardell demi wispies was one of my favorites. Thanks to ESQIDO for sending over these fabulous mink lashes. They're amazing! As you can tell from my picture below, they look super natural but give the right amount of volume and length. The band is so thin meaning they are comfortable to wear

UnforgettableLashes_SydneysFashionDiary

ESQIDO false lashes range from $34-$42. This might seem expensive but you can get up to 25 wears from a pair of lashes. After each wear, I gently peel the thin strip of glue off of the lashes using tweezers. I then place them back in the box to help them maintain their shape. If you are interested in ESQIDO false lashes, use code BEAUTIFUL for 10% off.

Ripped jeans + Graphic tee + Moto jacket

GraphicTee_SydneysFashionDiary

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I could not have asked for better weather. Everyone seems to be in a much better mood when it's warmer outside. Here's today's outfit featuring these AE ripped jeans..again. I can't help it. I love and reach for them every weekend. Since it was warmer outside, I paired these jeans with a graphic tee and throw on a (faux) leather moto jacket to complete the look. The jacket is very lightweight and suitable for springtime. I love the cropped length of this jacket. It certainly adds a little edgy vibe to any look. Linking up with Manic Monday today.

Black & White Sweater Dress

B&Woutfit_SydneysFashionDiary

Black & white has always been my favorite combo for an effortless, yet classy look. Hence, this dress is right up my alley. Not only is it a flattering fit & flare silhouette but it is also made out of heavy knit sweater material. It's so comfortable to wear. I layered a black tee underneath for extra coverage/warmth. TGIF! Have a great weekend, everyone!

Shades of grey

GrayChunkySweater_SydneysFashionDiary

Sometimes, you don't need to use colors to spruce up an outfit. Mixing textures, rather than colors, is the easiest way to add depth and dimension to your looks. Even though, grey is a versatile color, plain grey can be boring. I built this outfit around my new AE ripped jeans. Whenever I wear destroyed bottom, I like to contrast them with something classic like this cable knit sweater. I then finished off this monochromatic look with my beloved J.Crew wool coat. Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Double denim & blanket scarf

ChanelBoyDarkBeige_SydneysFashionDiary

This outfit comprises all of my favorite pieces at the moment: a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans, an oversized scarf, an easy chambray shirt, a pair of comfy flat booties and my "boy" =) I bought these jeans over a year ago and they are hands down still one of my favorite pieces in the closet. I wear them almost every weekend. The popular plaid scarf adds a pop of color to a neutral outfit. Hope you enjoy the last bit of your weekend!
