Tip # 2: Do your research - It's a myth that pre-owned handbags are way cheaper than new handbags. Sometimes used bags cost more than retail. It all depends on how popular (or rare) the bag is. For example, I paid $5200 + tax for my Chanel boy bag. The same bag runs for $6500 here because of the leather type (it's extremely hard to find a boy bag in caviar leather). For classic flaps and boy bags, prices are pretty close if not the same as retail prices. It's up to you to decide if it's worth buying a pre-owned handbag or you'd rather get a brand-new bag from a Chanel boutique?

Tips and tricks for buying luxury preloved handbags
I always have an interest in handbags as long as I can remember. However, I didn't get into the world of luxury handbags until 2011. For the past 4 years, I've gained a bit of knowledge when it comes to buying preloved handbags. Today, I wanted to share some of my tips and tricks just in case you're looking into treating yourself to a new designer handbag. A little disclaimer that I am not an expert by any means. These are just a few things I've learned throughout the years while doing my own research.
Tip # 1: Know your sources - If you don't know where to start, I strongly suggest you buy from a solid reputation reseller. A few that I can recommend are Fashionphile, Ann's Fabulous Finds and Yoogi's Closet. I have personally purchased my bags from Fashionphile and Ann's Fabulous Find. I haven't bought anything from Yoogi's Closet but have consigned with them. I had great experiences and don't have any concerns when it comes to buying luxury goods from these sources.

Plaid Midi Skirt :: Hits & Misses # 13
I only picked out 2 items from SheIn this time but thankfully both of them are love (see the first item here). Can you tell I have a thing for plaid? I love this skirt for Fall. It was made out of heavy faux suede fabric. Because of that it has a good weight and drapes beautifully. It's a myth that petite girls can't pull off midi skirts. The trick here is to keep your upper half fitted to help balancing out the prim factor of a midi. Happy Wednesday!

Faux Fur Vest :: OTK Suede Boots
When it's not quite cold enough to put on a coat but it’s not exactly warm enough to go without either, a fur vest is the perfect solution. I bought this fur vest from Banana Republic last year and am thrilled to bring it out again for the first time this season (buy this year's version here). Pairing it with my new OTK boots and my beloved bag. Happy Monday, everyone!

Guest Post: Party Dresses On A Budget
Today's post is a guest post from Discountrue
Finding a party dress
on a budget is crucial, especially for those with the foresight to know that
they will not be wearing the dress on a regular basis. If you are a person who
only attends parties on occasion, then blowing hundreds of dollars on a fancy
outfit is not financially feasible. While you can save money on clothes by
using coupons from Discountrue and
other couponing websites, there are numerous other ways to go about this task
and maximize your savings. Read on in order to learn more!
Create Your Own Dress: Whether you are a
creative type with the ability to sew or you are fortunate enough to be
friendly with someone with great imagination, you can rustle up a great party
dress while remaining well within your budgetary constraints. However, keep in
mind that fabrics and other materials can be costly, even when making a dress
of your own. Try hitting up your local thrift stores and secondhand shops to
see if there are clothes that can be cut up or altered by you or your friend!
Shop Online: All it takes to begin
your party dress shopping journey is a quick trip to Google! By typing in
searches related to budget attire, you will be able to access a variety of
different websites, all of which are geared towards helping you find an
affordable solution to this common problem.
Thrift Stores/Rummage
Sales: While some may
associate these practices with old and tattered clothing, there are many like
minded individuals who are trying to unload party dresses that have been worn
once or may have never even been worn at all! Such a style of shopping may
require more patience than simply walking into a local department store and
plunking down a credit card, but with the correct amount of dedication and
persistence you will be able to get a great party dress at a fraction of the
normal cost.
Budget Department
Stores: K-Mart, Wal-Mart,
Target, Kohl's, even stores like Macy's and Bloomingdale's can provide
affordable party dress options that will make you look good. What's more, there
are usually sales at many of these department stores, allowing consumers to
enjoy savings of up to 75% off on dresses that would normally be sold for a
much higher price. Shopping for dresses out of season also helps a lot!
Specialty Stores: There are now stores
that are geared directly towards the party dress and special occasion market. If you are able to visit them at the
right moments, they may even offer free or deeply discounted outfits. While
many of them are traditional brick and mortar locations, they can also be found
online. Simply head to Google and type in the phrase "party dresses on a
budget" or "free party dresses" if you are feeling particularly
fortunate!

A dupe for the Stuart Weitzman Lowland boots
*Update* These boots are now sold out but I found several identical dupes for less: under $60, under $125, under $200 and under $250
Last year, I reviewed the Unisa Gilles which was super similar to the Stuart Weitzman 5050. I thought I would look there first. Lo and behold, Unisa came out with the Careana which is incredibly similar to the Lowland. I tried them on in store and immediately fell in love with them. For the price tag, they're fantastic. DSW had a $10 off $50 purchase coupon during Columbus Day weekend which made them even more affordable. They are also available in black and blue.
These boots appear and look more expensive in person than they actually cost. I have been wearing them non-stop for almost 2 weeks now and am in love with them even more. They're incredibly comfortable, easy to take on/off and fit like a glove right of the box. Plus, no break-in time required! They fit true to size (I took my usual size 7). The measurements are as follow: shaft height = 22" and calf circumference = 14". I am wearing them here with leggings and they fit with a little room to spare. They definitely fit tighter with a pair of skinny jeans.
-------------------------------------------------
The Stuart Weitzman Lowland boots became so popular and has been featured just about everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I think they're amazing but am not sure they're worth the price tag. I purchased the Quiltboot last year. After putting some thoughts into it, I decided to take them back. I don't know how I feel about wearing $700 boots in the snow. I really love the sleek design and am determined to find something similar at a lower price point.

Plaid Midi Dress
I've mentioned in this post that I wanted a plaid dress. Unfortunately, the tunic that I ordered was too short to wear as a dress. When I saw a longer version of basically the same dress, I knew I had to give it a try. The dress turned out to be perfect this time (it gets great online reviews). I received 2 items from SheIn this time and love them both (you know I don't really say that often). This dress is made from thick flannel material that is perfect for Fall. The midi length gives it a retro vibe and is perfect for someone my height. I am looking forward to pairing it with tights and tall boots once it gets colder.

5 Fall Fashion and Beauty Trends For $25 Or Less
1. Vampy lips: Dark lip instantly reminds me of cooler weather. It's the most affordable way to get in the Fall mood. My favorite combo is the Wet N Wild in Cherry Bomb (only $1.99) and the NYX lip pencil in Plum ($3.49)
2. A plaid scarf: Blanket scarves remain one of the biggest Fall trends. There are so many affordable versions out there. I just got this one last week and am loving it. The best part? It's less than $13
3. Nail polishes: Some of my favorite nail polishes for Fall are: OPI Roll Down The Window (a true army green), OPI Malaga Wine (a beautiful rich wine color), Maybelline Home Sweet Chrome (a metallic blue shimmer)

Petite-friendly flared jeans (and budget-friendly too)
If you pay attention to Fall trends then you know flare jeans are making a big comeback. I have always loved flare jeans so I couldn't be happier they're back in style. However, finding a pair of flared jeans for short girls is extremely difficult. My ideal inseam would be 31" but that doesn't exist. I was looking for a pair of flared jeans that are fitted through the hip/thigh (with no waist gap), the flare starts right at the knee, thick cotton material, length = 31", classic wash and under $100. I know that's a lot to ask for =)

Soma x Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC)
{Wearing: Natori Plush Long Robe - size S}
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I am incredibly honored to team up with Soma to support a great cause. Starting at age 30, women should have mammograms on a regular basis. I just had mine done 3 weeks ago and am blessed to have a clean bill of health. It's crucial for women to have annual screening mammograms as they remain the most effective way of detecting breast cancer early.
{Pictured: Soma Embraceable Demi Bra in Pink Romance}
To honor survivors and raise breast cancer awareness, Soma is partnering with Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) to help spread the word by donating $1 for every bra sold (up to $20000) through Oct 21. Additionally, Soma invites women living beyond breast cancer to visit boutiques for a free bra fitting with a fit expert who can help address the needs of women facing mastectomy and lumpectomy surgeries. Donations will be gratefully accepted at the register and online during the month of October for LBBC. For more information, please visit them at LBBC.ORG

Sleeveless Trench :: 2 Ways To Wear It
I am kinda obsessed with sleeveless trenches at the moment. It is such a versatile piece that can dress up or down any outfit. I wore it as a dress to dinner a month ago and loved the voluminous bottom. For the second outfit, I layered the trench over a white tee and my tweed shorts. It instantly elevates the look. Even though Fall is officially here, the temperature is still in the 70s and perfect for layering. The trench is unlined. However, the fabric is thick and rather heavy. I like the fact that the color matches well with everything. I know Fall fashion is in full force but I truly enjoy the gorgeous weather we have this week. The snow will be here before I know it so I am going to enjoy the good weather while it lasts. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Petite-friendly sunglasses (high-end & affordable)
Summer is officially over but that doesn't mean you have to put your sunglasses away. I love sunglasses in general. However, with a history of macular degeneration, sunglasses are not only a fashion item but also a necessity for me. My eyes are very sensitive to sunlight so sunglasses are a must all year round. If you have a small face then you know finding the right pair of sunglasses is never an easy task. Below are what I currently have in my little sunglasses collection and they all fit my face well.
Affordable (from near to far): Zero UV (on me) | Quay My Girl (on me) | Nasty Gal Bueller II (on me). These sunglasses are extremely affordable but well constructed. I own many pairs from ZeroUV but this one is my favorite. They are super similar to the Karen Walker Super Duper sunglasses (which I had). These Quay sunglasses are my new obsession. If you're a reader of my blog then you know I've been wearing them non stop lately. I purchased these sunglasses from Nasty Gal a few months ago. For only $20, I didn't expect much. However, I was pleasantly surprised that they feel super sturdy in person and do not fall off my face.
High-end sunglasses (from near to far): Kate Spade Gayla (on me) | Karen Walker Number One (on me) | Dolce and Gabbana 4207 (on me). If you're looking to purchase a pair of high-end sunglasses, definitely check these out. In my opinion, they are ideal for petite faces. I've had these sunglasses for at least 2 years and they seem to hold up really well. On the flip side, there are also a few pairs that didn't work out for me (no longer have). They seemed to fit well at first but loosen up over time and fall off my face.
1. Prada 17OS (on me)
2. Karen Walker Super Duper (on me)
3. Burberry round frame (on me)

Review: J.Crew Lady Day Coat (Petite vs. Regular Sizing)
{Pictured: J.Crew Double-cloth Lady Day Coat in 00P (left) vs. 00R (right)}
Today, I wanted to quickly review one of my all time favorite coats - the J.Crew double-cloth lady day coat. It is currently on sale for 25% off (which is rare). The promotion ends tonight so I thought I'd do a quick comparison to show the differences between petites and regular sizes just in case you're interested. I am 5'2" and ended up purchasing this jacket in a size 00 regular. In the other hand, the exact same coat in a size 00 petite fits my sister in law (who is right under 5' tall) perfectly.
