Handbag Chit Chat :: Splurge vs Steal

For this week's handbag chit chat, I wanted to share some affordable alternatives to my favorite luxury brands. As much as I love my handbags, the price tags made me cringe. However, you don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy their beautiful silhouettes. Below are my top 5 beautiful yet affordable options to the it bags.ChloeDrewDup_SydneysFashionDiary

Spring Floral Dress :: Denim Jacket

SpringFloralDress_SydneysFashionDiary

I've been waiting patiently for the warmer weather so that I can break out this gorgeous dress. It's been sitting in my closet for over a month. I really love the unique print. The lace gives the illusion of a smaller waist which is always a plus. This dress is already sold out but there are tons of other options hereHappy Wednesday, everyone! Spring2016LookBook_SydneysFashionDiary

If you're an avid follower of this blog, then you know I am a huge fan of WHBM. I featured their beautiful pieces many times throughout the years. Today, I am super excited to share with you a look book video featuring a few key pieces from their gorgeous Spring 2016 collection. Even though the video is rather short, my husband and I have been working on it all weekend long. We absolutely have no video filming/editing experience =) Thankfully, the weather has been amazing. I put together 3 Spring outfits for work, weekend and date night. Which one is your favorite? I absolutely love these flare trousers. They fit me perfectly in every way. I wish they came in more colors. If you have a hard time finding the perfect pair of trousers, I highly recommend you check them out. Hope you enjoy something a little different and a special thanks to White House Black Market for sponsoring this post.

Handbag chit chat :: Chanel Coco Handle Bag

ChanelCocoHandle2016_SydneysFashionDiary

For this week's handbag chit chat, I am over the moon to reveal my latest love - the Chanel coco handle bag. I wouldn't call this bag was an impulse purchase but I wasn't planning on getting it so quick either (especially after I got my Christmas gifts). One day out of curiosity, I googled "similar Hermes Kelly bags" - more on that in a later post =), the Chanel "Kelly" came up. I didn't even know it existed. I felt intrigued. One search led to another, I've learned that Chanel released a newer version of the Kelly bag in pre-Fall/Winter 2015. It's called the "Coco Handle". I called my SA and found out the bag sold out shortly after its release. He also told me don't be disappointed as the bag might be available again in Spring. Lo and behold, I finally got my hands on this beauty. I love it because it's different. Don't get me wrong - I love my classic flap and my boy to pieces but there is something about this bag that brings chic to a whole new level (especially when carried by the handle). If you're interested in a detailed review about this bag (e.g: sizes, available colors and what fits), just let me know in the comment section.

The long and the short of it

JCrewTrench_SydneysFashionDiary

Being a style blogger, I am always open to new fashion ideas. While browsing, the length of this dress caught my attention and I wanted to give it a try. I actually really like the dress itself. The material is very comfy to wear and the texture gives it an interesting look. However, the mid calf length is questionable on me. As much as I want to venture out, I just don't have what it takes to pull this length off. In this case, I am going to stick with what works best for my frame =) I am wearing: Romwe dress c/o *shorten* | Public Desire boots | Quay sunglasses | J.Crew icon trench *under $200*

Comfy flannel :: Hunter boots

BurberryCornsdaleCoat_SydneysFashionDiary

Temperatures have dropped significantly over the past few days. When it's cold outside, flannels are one of my favorite things to wear. This flannel shirt is exactly what I was looking for. The fabric is thick yet so comfy to wear. I love the oversized look and it doesn't shrink in the wash. I've washed it twice and it came out just fine. I've talked about this wonderful puffer jacket several times on this blog and still highly recommend it. I am busting it out for the first time this season since we have a relatively mild winter so far and forgot how much I love it. It was 20 degrees outside when these photos were taken and this jacket kept me toasty. Finished off the look with my trusty Hunter boots for a pop of color. Enjoy the rest of your week, everyone! Stuart Weitzman Highland dup for under $60

*Update* I found several identical dupes for less here: under $100, under $100under $200
-----------------------------------

As you may already know, the Stuart Weitzman Highland boots have become so popular over the years. I love them because they're beautiful and so sleek. However, I do not love the price tag. They're crazy expensive and not affordable to the average person. I spent sometime searching for the alternative and stumbled upon these boots. It took me awhile to pull the trigger mainly because they're a UK based brand. I am glad I did because the boots ended up working out pretty well for me.

Pros:
- Affordable - They cost right under $60. For something trendy like thigh-high boot, I don't wear it enough to make the cost per wear worthwhile. I can't wear them to work. Most of the time, I can't wear 4" heels running around with my kids on the weekends. They are basically reserved for date nights and god knows, we don't go out that much =)
- Decent quality - For under $60, I thought the quality is somewhat decent. Of course, they're not made out of real suede but the fabric is not flimsy at all. They are available in black, taupe, grey and beige
- Great fit - The fit is what sold me. They fit my scarves extremely well (bare-legged and tucked into jeans). I went with a UK5 (US7) and thankfully, they run very true to size. Measurements are as follows: shaft height = 26", calf circumference = 8", ankle circumference = 4.5 and heel height = 4". The foot-bed is on the narrow side so they might be tight for those who have wide feet. If you have narrow/average feet, they should be just fine. The boot features a partial side zipper for easy on and off which is nice. Sizing starts at UK3/US5 to UK8/US10

Cons:
- The smell - When I first pulled them out of the box, they have that chemical smell. I do not notice the smell when I have them on and it does seem to fade.
- The back strings - They do not stay put. I believe this was caused by the stiffness of the material. I hope they will soften up with wear. It doesn't bother me so much but I thought I'd mention.

Valentine's Day Look :: Red Blouse & Floral Skirt

ValentinesOutfitIdeas_SydneysFashionDiary

Wrapping up the week with another Valentine's inspired look. The crop top and high waisted skirt is one of my favorite combos to wear. This look is a bit dressier than the last one but still not over the top. I feel like it's a girly chill outfit for dinner with your date but it's also office-appropriate. I love the self tie bow in the back. It adds a twist to the traditional blouse. I am giving away this gorgeous pink lace dress for Valentine's Day. If you're interested, please head over to this post and tag a friend to enter. The vibrant color of this blouse is also perfect for Lunar New Year. If you celebrate this weekend, I wish you good health and lasting prosperity. A special thanks to Chicwish for sponsoring this week's content.
