1. Go to a pick-your-own farm: I took my youngest to pick strawberries earlier this season and she loved it. Make sure you check this site to see what's in season. I am looking to our traditional apple picking in the Fall
2. Cool off at a splash pad/pool: There are several great splash pads and outdoor pools near where I live. The girls always have fun in the water. My go-to sunscreen for the kids
3. Roam around the Zoo: Did you know Columbus Zoo is one of the 5 largest zoos in the US? The zoo is so big you don't feel that it's crowded. We bought season passes and have been visited regularly.
4. Canoeing: We went canoeing a couple of weeks ago and had so much fun. We loved it so much that we plan to go back next month with a bigger group of friends.
5. Take a hike: I love hiking and luckily, the girls seem to enjoy it too. A family hike is a great way to get kids to put down their electronic devices and enjoy the outdoors. Our favorite spots: Hocking Hills, Highbanks Metro Park and Rising Park
6. Watch an outdoor movie: Outdoor movies are a fantastic summer activity for kids. Our favorite spots to watch an outdoor movie: Zoombezi Bay, Easton Town Center and Columbus Common
7. Take a road trip: We love weekend trips. The hubs and I used to take weekend trips often (before kids). We took a trip to Michigan earlier this month and enjoyed it so much (it was a 5-hour drive)
8. Go for a long bike ride: The little one knows how to ride her bike but she can't really go on a long bike ride. We bought this trailer so she can go with us. It works out perfectly! Family bike rides are the perfect way to spend time together
9. Go camping: This is the one thing we haven't gotten a chance to do yet this summer. We plan to take the girls camping in the next couple of weeks.
10. Attend a local festival: Guarantee there's a huge festival happening in your hometown almost every weekend. My favorite ones are the Asian festival, Italian festival, the Columbus food truck festival and Jazz & rib festival
There are a lot more to do during the summer. These are just some of our top favorite things to do. I hope you're having a great summer so far and enjoying time with your loved ones.
