My experience with BBL treatment

Taking a break from shopping to share a skincare procedure that I got done recently. I had 3 BBL treatments over the course of the last 3 months and I wanted to share my experience with you just in case you're interested.

What's BBL?
BBL stands for BroadBand Light. BBL technology uses the power of intense pulsed light to treat a range of skin concerns, including acne, age spots, sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles and uneven texture. BBL treatment is not a laser treatment. Laser treatments are a single wavelength, while BBL uses a broad spectrum of light that we can filter several different ways to treat different conditions.

My skin history:
Fortunately, I haven't experienced any major skin issues. No eczema, acne or any types of skin allergy reactions. I'm a very low maintenance kind of girl when it comes to skincare. Moisturizer and sunscreen are the 2 skincare products that I put on my face most days. I am just about as low-maintenance as it gets when it comes to makeup. However, I have a lot of freckles on my cheeks. They are genetic. I inherited them from my Dad. Along with freckles, sun spots and age spots are accumulated as I get older (you can clearly see in the footage). In 2012, I had 2 laser treatments to treat dark spots on my face. However, the recovery took almost 3 weeks after each treatment.

What to expect in a BBL treatment?
I was given numbing cream to put on my face 15 minutes before the treatment. Once my skin is ready, the doctor started putting a thick layer of cooling gel on my skin. Then she did a few test laser pulses to make sure that I am getting the right intensity. Once she's happy with the power level, she then performed a series of passes over the skin with the BBL device as the device applies light flashes to the skin. The light penetrates my skin break up pigmentation. After the treatment, your body will work to repair the damage and reduce the appearance of the discoloration. I found it to be slightly uncomfortable but tolerable. It felt like rubber bands snapping against my skin. My treatment took about 15 minutes

Cost and how many treatments do you need?
My BBL treatment costs $400 per session. Generally, between 1 and 3 treatments are necessary to achieve the best results. Of course, this depends on your skin condition and level of improvement desired. I had 3 sessions and am happy with the overall appearance of my skin. I plan to get 2 treatments next year (one treatment every 6 months) to maintain results and as an anti-aging preventative treatment

Recovery after the treatment:
For me, there was no downtime. My face was sensitive for a couple of days but that was it. I also noticed little brown dots rising then coming off within the same week. It's important to let them flake off on their own. I had my first treatment on a Tuesday then on the weekend, I went to brunch with a couple of my girlfriends (sans makeup) and they immediately noticed how glowing and even my skin was. You can definitely see results after one treatment.

Before & after:
Below are my before and after photos. The left photos is the before. You can tell I had quite a bit of dark spots, sun spots and freckles on my cheeks. These photos were taken with my phone. They are unedited and unfiltered. I had absolutely no make-up on. You can clearly see that my skin texture has improved significantly and dark/age spots have faded drastically. Keep in mind that the camera was 5 inches away from my face so these pictures are going to show every pore/spot on your face. If you sit across from me, you could hardly see those dark spots (even if I have no make-up on). These spots are undetectable with a light layer of foundation. The middle picture was taken after one treatment. The right picture were taken last week (after 3 treatments). Overall, I am very pleased with the results.

Would I recommend BBL treatment?
100% yes! As mentioned above, I am not really into makeup. I rather spend $$ to take care of my skin. Taking care of your skin is a long-term investment. I highly recommend BBL treatment to anyone who is looking for a safe option to treat sun damage, anti-aging and skin rejuvenation.
