2018 :: 2019

Another year has come and gone. If I have to describe 2018 in one word, it would be "spendy". Started with our new bedroom in Jan, then crossed Banff off our travel bucket list in March, broke ground on the patio in July, got my dream watch in September and became boat owners in October. I am not bragging. I am proud of what we have accomplished this year. We set measurable goals at the beginning of each year and work really hard to achieve those goals. Born and raised in the traditional Asian family, achievements were expected. My parents seldom praised me and they taught me to be humble. However, I think it's very important to recognize your accomplishments in general. Recording your achievements will boost your self confidence. On the flip side, identify your weaknesses is equally important. 2018 was also the year of sharing more personal matters. I was skeptical at first but your support has made it easy for me. This space is no longer just for fashion-related content, it's my online diary. Here's a look at back 2018. Outfit details: Forever 21 sequin dress | J.Crew jacket *similar long coat here* | Valentino shoes

Positives:
- As mentioned above, we reached our goals in 2018. The boat was a spur of the moment decision but we couldn't be happier with the purchase.
- I switched job, not once but twice. My income increases allow us to achieve a few goals on our list quicker
- I ran not one but two half marathons. Running makes me feel accomplished. Running is also a way for me to train my brain. I can do anything if I put my mind to it.
- Madelyn started 1st grade. No more daycare. If you have your child in daycare, you know child care these days costs as much as the rent.
- Courtney is doing amazingly in school. I know I mentioned this in the past but I know this kid will make me proud.
- Even though we didn’t go on a big summer vacation, we did take 3 small trips to Michigan, New York and Las Vegas this year.
- Mom and Dad are in good health and that’s a blessing.
- Met some amazing people this year and continue to build our friendships based on mutual respect and trust.
- Celebrated my 40th birthday with those I love the most.

Negatives:
- Speaking of friendship, the only upsetting thing this year was this so-called friendship. I was angry at first because I feel like I was played. However, at the end of the day, I am relieved. That friendship was like a bad habit. You know it’s bad for you but you can’t seem to get rid of it. I am glad I gave it a second chance but not all relationships are worth saving.
- I mentioned about our patio here but unfortunately, we ran into some setbacks. It's usable but not 100% completed. We have to wait until the weather gets warmer to finish the rest.
- I lost my brand new phone *ugh*. It was an accident but it's still upsetting. Currently using my husband’s old phone.
NYEOutfitIdeas_SydneysFashionDiary Plans/goals for 2019:
- Home projects: Getting started on updating Madelyn's bedroom. Finish the patio (of course), build our mudroom, purchase this chandelier for our dining room.
- Vacations: Since we didn’t go on a big summer vacation in 2018, we plan a trip to Aruba with the kids this summer. My husband and I are also taking a trip to Peru to celebrate our 10th year anniversary. It's the next destination on our travel bucket list and I can’t wait.
- Big purchases: The only big purchase we planned for this year is the matching watch for my husband. You can read more about it here.
- Financial goals: While we spent quite a bit in 2018, 2019 will be the year of saving. I plan to put as much as I can in our savings account this year.
- Fitness: Planning to run a few races with a friend of mine in 2019.
- Career: Looking forward to meeting my team and be part of the new company.

I would like to sincerely thank each and everyone of you for your support. Let’s make 2019 even better than 2018. Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve!
