Review: AT new pant collection

Ann Taylor has introduced their new pant collection few weeks ago and it was love at first sight for me. Everything looks so pretty online. When they sent out an email for $20.00 off any new pants plus free shipping, I decided to try them out. Since Fall is just around the corner, I thought I could use some work pants for the upcoming cold season. I ordered the Modern Houndstooth Straightleg Pant in 00P. Click here to read more

Fit: These pants are not too bad as far as the fit concerned. They are about 1.5 inches bigger than my actual waist measurements. This problem can be easily fixed with a belt (don’t we all learn that from PFC#1?). At first, I was trying to hold up my pants with a leather skinny belt.  Skinny belt just wouldn't do the job. These belt loops are too big for skinny belt. Therefore, I had to wear a wider belt to keep the pants stay on my hips. The length, in the other hand, is perfect for my height with lower heels (29 ½ inches inseam for petites)

Style: I am loving the style, very classy and sophisticated. They are 100% line. Personally, I think LOFT/Ann Taylor has better styles than BR lately. These are straight-leg pants. Therefore the cut is slimmer throughout hips and thighs. I do wish Ann Taylor carries petites in stores

Price points: Even though with $20.00 discount, these pants are still at a higher price point for me (almost $80.00). I don't think I've spent that much $$ on a pair of pants in the past. Today (09.01) is the last day for $20.00 off any full-price pant purchase plus free shipping

Verdict: I am taking these back and wait for a better sale (perhaps 40% off full-priced item). I like them but I am not completely in love with them. I am sure I can wait for further sale.

On a different note, if you’re looking for a tiny button-down shirt, give this Ann Taylor Petite Perfect Cotton Shirt a try. This shirt is available in 5 different colors for petites. I am loving the dusty blush color as well. I got this shirt in 00P and it is tiny. The length was almost too short for me to tucked in. $58.00 was a little much for a button-down shirt but I’ll get a lot of wear out of it. A button-down white shirt goes with everything and I know I’ll wear it for years.

What I am wearing:
Pants: AT Modern Houndstooth Pant in 00P (sold here)
Shirt: AT Petite Perfect Cotton Shirt (sold here)
Belt: Gap Leather Belt in XS (similar here)
Handbag: Gucci "D ring" (sold here)

What are your thoughts on these pants?

xoxo,

Not bad on you. But I agree that the price is too high. You should be able to stack 30% off coupon code SEPT30 on top of the $20 off online. That'll give you a little more discount. But I'm not sure if they have your size online any more.

I think the fit on you is great (besides the waist being a little big). I love this look, very chic!

Those pants look really great on you. I'm like you, gaps don't really bother me that much as long as I can put a belt on it. The pants are very sophisticated and the length is perfect. They are a little too much given that you had the 20% discount.

I like the whole outfit, especially on your slender frame! Looks great with the crisp white shirt, and the belt+shoes!

I love them! They hug your body well, I can't notice that without the belt they were a little too big.
BTW, your make up and hair look so nice in the photo!

Thanks for the button-down shirt tip! That one looks really nice, and I've been wanting to find one in various colors for a really long time now, but didn't know where to look. The pants look nice, but I agree with you -- they are quite pricey.

I think your outfit makes these pants versus the other way around. I really like how you styled these with belt, pumps and blouse. Since I got these in the mail as well I can agree that these are not worth the price even with the discounts. I imagined the fabric to be more lovely but it's a pretty drab brown print. They are a good length on you but were much too long on my shorter legs. Maybe I'm just harsher on these pants because the other pair of 00P's that also arrived fit much better : )

These pants look fantastic on you, but I certainly wouldn't pay that much for them with that much of a gap in the waist. I really like your outfit, and I have to agree with Jean that your outfit is making the pants and not vice versa.

I also agree that you're probably making these pants look good, and they definitely don't seem worth the high price either, especially with the pretty sizable waist gap. Especially since you're taller, I'm sure you can find much better! :)

The pants look good on you, but I prefer my pants to look slimmer on me. Are you wearing nude lipstick? I love it on you!

Tangent: I noticed that you purchased the Surreal Mineral Makeup on Haute. It's my favorite mineral makeup. If you don't like the color, you can always exchange it @ Sephora (a little unethical, I know).

I know you don't normally do makeup reviews/blog entries, but will you consider it for this particular item? I'm really interested in your opinions on it.

My color is Nirvana.

@ your wishlist:

I got the naked palette. mmmmm. It will become a cult favorite, I already know it!!! I am in love w/it. Wear it everyday.

tory burch riding boots? I love! AND white ceramic watch?! they had a lovely michael kors one on sale during the Nordstrom Anniv Sale. This is such a trendy style. I'm a huge fan.

I love the white button up shirt! Fits you perfectly! I will have to try this on! I love the whole outfit even tho I am not a big "pants" type girl but you look great!

Thanks everyone for your your input. Even with 40% off, these pants are still pricey.

@PAG: I agree, there is nothing special about the fabric. I can see why they're a litter longer on you.

@TLDP: The lip gloss I was wearing in this post is called Milani "Putting on the glitz". You can find it at drug stores. I really like it. I am a big fan of lighter/nude lip gloss

@Aubrey: Thanks for the tip. I didn't know that. The one I purchased was Urban Decay. I haven't trid this brand before ever so I am very curious. I am suck at make-up but I'll see what I can do :) My BD is coming up (next week). I put my wish list there for a reason :) I think I might get this watch for my BD. We'll see if hubby really is checking out my wish list. I am afraid it is going to be huge on my wrist. I didn't get a chance to see it in person.

You look really classy (love the pumps!) but I'm not crazy about the fit of those pants on you. They look like they definitely need to be altered! To be honest they look more wideleg than straight leg to me because they're so big on you :( You are soooo tiny it is outrageous!

If you're ever in Canada/somewhere that has an Aritzia, I recommend Talula Babaton pants... Aritzia seems to market much of their clothing towards an Asian/petite customer so that may fit!

but it could be like oversized watch. That look is very cute. Sometimes, I am obsessed w/oversized things on petites.

I always open the UD Surreal Mineral makeup and pour it into the cap, then apply. I don't use the sponge applicator that comes with it. Kind of a hassle. There are tons of reviews on Sephora.
