Review: J.Crew Wool Cafe Capri in 00P

One of my style goals for this year is to wear more pants. I love wearing dresses and skirts but I need more variety in my simple wardrobe. I love how the J.Crew Café Capri looks on the models so decided to give them a try

What I am wearing:
Pants: J.Crew Wool Cafe Capri - size 00P
Blouse: Old Navy - size XS (buy similar)
Shoes: Steve Madden Ulltra in blush patent
Watch: Michael Kors 5128 in rose gold
Clutch: ZARA leather messenger bag

I’ll start off with the good:
• The baked citron color is gorgeous in person. Surprisingly, it goes with most everything. The color is somewhat unusual but still very muted and classic.
• The length were perfect for my 5’2 height so that’s a plus. The bottom leg part has the right amount of slim fit for me.

Let’s talk about the bad:
• Can you believe these pants are completely unlined ? When I first opened the package, I was struck by how thin the fabric was. Unlined does seem cheap, especially at this price (and for something that is made from 100% wool). I am not allergic to wool but this can be a deal breaker for a lot of people.
• The waist measures 26 inches (laying flat) for a 00P which is an inch bigger than my actual waist measurement. The fit is not perfect but this is something I can easily fix with a belt.
• I look for pants that fit well in the thigh and rear, these pants do nothing for my figure (especially my rear-end).
• The material is so thin and unlined, it literally shows every bump and lump from any blouses or shirts tucked in which is not flattering at all.

I really wanted to love these pants and had high hopes for them. While I try to convince myself that they’re OK to keep, I know I can’t. So, back they go. On an unrelated note, don't forget to enter my giveaway for a chance to win a beautiful necklace. If you haven't, click here to enter.

Have you tried these pants?

That stinks that the pants aren't a perfect fit because they're such a gorgeous color! I'm really surprised that at a 00, the waist is 26 inches! That's huge...usually that size is more like 24.

I like this outfit and it's too bad the pants didn't work out! I'd prefer the legs to be slimmer, but the colour is really nice. : ) Love the blouse! I have a similar from ModCloth.

awww i love this outfit. ohh wool pants unlined sounds itchy! i agree with jessy that the legs and the back can be slimmer.

You're so positive to start out with the good points! Stink it's unlined. The color is great!!! Hope you find some great capris. The nude shoes really elongate your legs!

I ordered these as well in a blue color and didn't love the fit. The color is super pretty on you though!

i have a problem with the fit, too. i do love the fit of the waverly chino, tho. and they shrink up perfectly!

I love the color, but agree that it is not a keeper for all the things you mentioned. Glad you are taking up the pants challenge. I sort of gave up on pants a year ago. lol.

I definitely had my eyes on these, and I'm glad I read this review! The color and the concept look amazing, but in reality, I guess it just doesn't work. :( It's disappointing for J. Crew!

The color of the pant is pretty. It's too bad the fit isn't better.

The color is gorgeous! I think cropped pants on petites usually look better when the leg is slim all over. Surprised they were unlined since they're wool!

Bummer! Definite return! I love how you styled these, though! :)

In the pictures, your pants look very nice. But I totally understand if the material is too thin. Sometimes you just cannot be that forgiving.

Oh goodness, unlined wool - a nightmare for me! I do love the fit and colour of those though, hopefully you can find a suitable replacement!

What a bummer...I love the color on you. Thanks for the review. I am always looking for pants too. I can't believe it's unlined- for J.Crew? Such a shame.

They would have looked nicer if they were a bit slimmer in the legs, but I do love the color on you so much. These would have been perfect for the spring!

I'm 5'1" and bought these pants in the regular length, so they fit me like regular length--I like them this way even though it is meant to be worn as you have them here. But the vanity sizing is too bad for smaller petites because I fit a 00 perfectly.
