Petite Fashion Challenge # 17: Candy Colorized

I missed the last few PFCs due to my morning sickness. This month, I am determined to join the fun =) This month's PFC hosted by the talented Sew Petite Gal who I had the privilege to meet in person. She asked us to "Take a bowl full of colorful candies (M&Ms, Jolly Ranchers, jelly beans, etc.), close your eyes, and draw 2-3 pieces. Now use those colors (+ a neutral of your choosing) to form the basis for your ensemble". How fun is that!

PFC

I am still trying to divert myself away from the neutrals and add more colors and prints to my wardrobe. I have way too many neutral colors in my closet and would love to own more colorful pieces. Being pregnant, my clothing options are getting more and more limited. In order to complete this challenge, I cheated a little – I chose my outfit before the candy colors =) Of course, there is no peach-colored M&Ms so I just had to use the red color instead. I chose a pair of nude pumps as my neutral element to complete my look.

New place to shop: Dorothy Perkins

While surfing the Internet the other day looking for cute maternity wear, I stumbled upon a website called Dorothy Perkins. I personally haven’t heard of this site previously but it looks very promising at first glance. Dorothy Perkins is based in the UK but ships internationally. They remind me quite a bit of ASOS. They do offer petite clothing, tall clothing as well as maternity clothing. Unfortunately, they do not have a huge selection of clothing for expectant mothers. However, there are many items that caught my eyes. I definitely will keep this site in mind for future shoComposepping. Please note that I am not associated with Dorothy Perkins, just wanted to share with you guys. Here are some of my picks:

1. Cream zigzag chiffon dress, 2. Navy panel ribbed dress, 3. Cream straight cut dress, , 4. Petite floral pocket dress

1. Black lace yoke top, 2. Spotty peplum top, 3. Blush pussybow blouse, 4. Cream lace tee

1. Detachable fur collar biker, 2. Nude mid-heel court shoes, 3. Stripe high neck dress

Readers, do you have any experience with Dorothy Perkins? If so, please share =)

Review: Allison Izu Maternity Denim

When you are pregnant, your regular jeans may be the first thing you have to give up. Even though I am not a jean person, a good pair of maternity jeans is an essential. Every pregnant woman should own at least one pair of maternity jeans as they can be worn throughout your entire pregnancy. I have worked with Allison Izu in the past and am super excited to have the chance to test out her new maternity denim. I am ecstatic to know Allison is also expecting her second child and we’re due around the same time.

What I am wearing:
Denim: Hotel Straight Skinny Maternity Denim c/o Allison Izu - size 00
Top: Gap Maternity Eyelet Top - size XS
Wedges: Target Tawny Wedges (small sizes are available and on sale)
Necklace: Amrita Singh Montauk Necklace

Tips for visiting Disney with young kids

My little girl just turned 7 last week. This year, we decided to take her to Disney World for her birthday. It wasn’t ideal for me to visit Disney at 6 months pregnant but with the second one is on the way, I knew I had to do it. Unfortunately, I don’t have a lots of personal photos to share (and I will tell you why later). However, I do want to share my experiences at Disney and a few tips on how to make the most of your Disney vacation when traveling with young kids. We took a week vacation but spent the first 3 days in Orlando, FL (1st day visiting Sea World, 2nd day visiting Magic Kingdom and 3rd day visiting Hollywood Studios).

1. Tickets: Park tickets are not cheap. For 3 days, we spent almost $1000 on park tickets alone for the three of us. The best deal is online of course (rather than the gate) but the Walt Disney website still gives the best total online price (after taxes). There are a lot of other sites that show prices without taxes and fees which is misleading. There are a lot of discounts, codes, etc. on Disney packages (hotels, cars, etc.) but for base admission tickets, Disney does have that tightened up. Sites below are full of info, tips and ideas if you’re interested to learn more. We didn’t go with any third-party sites. We purchased our tickets at the gate and I wouldn't recommend buying the tickets off eBay.

2. Tips for navigating quickly at Disney parks:
• First thing to know is you will have more stuff to do than you can handle even if you arrive at open and leave when they kick you out of the park for the night. I am not much of a planner but I did spend time and plan our entire trip BEFORE hand. I am proud to say that we hit all the popular rides within a few hours and still had time to do most of the less popular rides towards the end of each day. Disney’s attraction ticket wait time system will save you a lot of time in the park. You can learn more about it here.

Trina Turk for Banana Republic Sonya Patio Maxi Dress

As you may be aware, the Trina Turk for Banana Republic Collection released last Thursday. The collection features 60 pieces ranging in price from $34.50 to $150 including dresses, shorts, accessories, sunglasses, swimsuits and towels in Trina's signature bold patterns.

Generally, I tend to shy away from bold prints. However, after looking through the lookbook, I immediately fell in love with it. This collection is filled with beautiful pieces! I found it quite hard to pick out a favorite. At the end, I decided to go with the Sonya Patio Dress in Pink Pisces for a couple of reasons. I love maxi dresses in general and would live in them year round. Also, at this stage of my pregnancy, flowy dresses is the best way to go. See the same dress on Elle of Fast Food and Fast Fashion.

What I am wearing:
Dress: Sonya Patio Dress in Pink Pisces c/o Banana Republic - size 0P
Sandals: LOFT (buy similar)
Clutch: Zara (buy similar)
Sunglasses: Kate Spade Gayla

What to wear when you’re expecting (Part II): Maxi dresses

Congratulations to Saimaeve for winning the lovely dress from OASAP. Please email me your shipping info. My family and I are taking a vacation at the moment but I will get back with you as soon as I can. Thank you, everyone for giving your feedback on the new site as well as submitting your entries for the giveaway. I really appreciate it! Now, onto today's post...

In part I, I was talking about blazers were my favorite thing to wear to work during the 1st and 2nd trimester. When it comes to casual wear for weekends, I literally live in dresses. I love wearing shorts during summer but they just simply don’t work when you’re expecting.
