Looking back on 2013!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and your new year is off to a great start. I wanted to do a recap post before the year is over but didn't get a chance to do so. We still don't have an internet connection at home yet but hope to get back in the swing of things real soon. You know how much we rely on technology these days =) I am back to work after a long break. It sure didn't feel like a break at all. We were up until midnight every night to unpack and put things away. Between moving twice, husband’s crazy travel schedule (he took 48 business trips for the year of 2013) and building our new home, 2013 was full of challenges. I would be lying if I said it was easy. I am glad the hard part is over and so grateful for everything. Today, I’d like to take a moment and look back at some highlights of 2013.

January: Even though Madelyn was born in September of 2012, daycare didn't start until January 2013. We're thankful that the transition was a breeze.
February: Started putting together a plan to find our new home. I was beyond excited to see our dream place becoming a reality.
March: My husband's birthday was in March. Instead of celebrating with other people, we opted for a hotel staycation. It was nice just to rest and relax all weekend long.
April: Some major home improvements were done before putting the house up for sale
May: Our home was sold in 6 days! That was totally unexpected!

June: The craziness has begun. We've moved out of the house and moved in an apartment. Courtney turned 8. Where did the time go?

July: Took a summer vacation in sunny Florida. It was also Madelyn's first flight and she did great!

August: Started running and ran my very first race. I'd love to do more races this year.

September: Took a weekend trip to San Francisco to hang out with some of my favorite blogger friends. Celebrated Madelyn’s first birthday.
October: Ran my 2nd race

November: Ran my third race and so thankful to celebrated the holidays with my loved ones
December: Took possession of the house 2 days before Christmas. We were able to move in just in time to celebrate the holidays.

My only resolution for 2014 is trying my hardest to slow down and enjoy the moments. It seems like we’re always moving and trying to accomplish the next thing. It’s great to have goals but if we are constantly rushing, we’ll miss out on life itself. I truly believe it's important to step back and enjoy life. It doesn't have to be about the big grand things in life. It's the little things that count and I am going to try my best to accomplish just that in 2014. Linking up with More Pieces of Me and On the Daily Express today. Thank you for all your support in 2013 and I wish you and your family a wonderful 2014!

I cannot believe he traveled 48 times in 2013! That's crazy! You are a real trooper for being able to handle the kids + life by yourself while he travels. But hey, that's what spouses do. I only travel 2-3 times. Hubs does have to suck it up with no shortage of "how loooong are you going foooor"? Anyways, happy 2014. Glad you are settling in the new house & hope you can really enjoy it soon.

So cool that you got to run in the races. And congrats on the new house. It's so stressful getting a house built, but it's worth it in the end because you get to design it to your liking!
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Sydney! Sounds like you had some special moments in 2013. A staycation was a great idea for your husband's birthday. I have "slow down" on my brain, as well. :)
