March purchase: Burberry Habourne Trench

I am playing catch up on posting my monthly purchases =). As mentioned previously, this year I am concentrating on the items that I truly love instead of the costs. I spent under $50 on clothing for the entire month of January and February. However, my March purchase was an item that I've saved up for years – the classic Burberry trench. My dream of owning the classic Burberry trench started when I visited Jean in August 2011. She was so kind to let me try on hers and I immediately fell in love with it. Since then, it has always been my dream to own a Burberry trench coat. It’s a timeless classic piece and I know it will stay in my wardrobe for years to come. Fast forward 3 years later, I had reached a point where I felt comfortable pulling the trigger. I started doing intensive research about 6 months ago. Below are a few options I came across:

Burberry Billington: The fit for a size 2 was perfect on me. By the time it went on sale, my size wasn't available anywhere. Even if it was, this coat wasn't exactly what I've been looking for. It’s beautiful in person if you’re looking for a classic wool coat.
Burberry Faille : I tried on this coat countless time at Saks. It was “the one” until the very last minute. My husband loved the way it looked on me but didn't care too much for the material. He specifically told me if I told him this jacket was from Target, he would believe me. I know that comment was a little harsh but the craftsmanship was not quite up to par with the price tag.
Burberry Baronscourt: The SA from one of the Burberry stores sent me this picture. For those who’re curious, the price starts from $1095 for the shortest one, $1195 for the mid-length and $1295 for the longer length. I loved the look but wasn't comfortable getting something over the phone when I haven’t had a chance to see in person.

What I am wearing:
Top: FRS lace top c/o
Bottom: J.Brand 910 leggings - size 25
Jacket: Burberry Harbourne trench (current version)

The first thing I do when I wake up every morning is check my sale alerts (please don’t judge). It finally paid off. The beautiful Harbourne trench that I've tried on 3 years ago popped back on Bluefly in my size. It was meant to be if you ask me =) I am not going to do a review on this coat since Jean has done a wonderful job doing so. If you’re interested, please check out her post here. I am wearing a size 2 here and couldn't have asked for a better fit. After over 3 years of saving and dreaming, it has been a wonderful feeling being able to cross off it off my list. I know it’s just a piece of clothing but if you've been working towards something for years, you tend to appreciate it more and this jacket has certainly become very personal to me. I hope you enjoy my "coat journey" and if you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment. Happy Monday!

I love the lace top! Also, the Burberry trench coat looks amazing on you. I, too, wish I can own a Burberry trench. Unfortunately I just have a Banana Republic one that's outdated. Maybe I should save up like you. :)

The trench looks fabulous on you! There are just so many options when it comes to any brand, how did you narrow your search? Or did you just happen to try on this style and knew it was the one? I don't judge you for having a sale alert set up. I would too! And it's amazing that after 3 years, this trench is still for sale. Just goes to show how classic it is.
