Date Night Idea: Cooking Classes at Sur La Table

SurLaTable

For Mother’s Day, my husband booked a macarons class for the two of us at one of the Sur La Table locations. I had to give him props for planning something a little more creative this year lol =) Anyway, we had such an amazing time that I wanted to share the experience just in case you’re looking for something to do on a date night. The class was 2.5 hours long and it went by really quick. Snacks and drinks were provided during the class. We worked as a team of 4 and I truly enjoyed the interaction with other people. The chef was upbeat and entertaining. We made 3 types of macarons: strawberry, lavender and pistachios along with 3 types of fillings: white chocolate, lemon cream and honey butter. The combination of lavender and lemon ended up being my favorite.

The macaron shells are very difficult to get right. As you probably can tell from the photo above, the first batch (strawberry) had too much air caught inside. We then got a hang of it. The 2nd and 3rd batch looked so much better. At the end of the class, they’ll give you 10% off any purchase that day. I ended up getting this pan. Their Scanpan line is seriously a dream – I am saving up for this set. All in all, my husband and I had a blast and are planning to book a date night class very soon.

How lovely. Yes, they are difficult to master. I made some macarons last year, it was more than I bargained for, but they turned out great. The cooking class sounds nice. <3
Love the printed scarf and denim. This is a lovely retro-inspired look. <3

A cooking class would be such a fun date night! I've always wanted to learn to make macaroons.

What an awesome idea! I've been meaning to check out a Sur La Table class for awhile, although I don't think I'm ambitious enough to start with the macaron class. Your strawberry batch still looks pretty good though. :)

That's a neat experience! Thanks for the tip! I think I'd like to book a class for my H and I when we visit my parents in Beavercreek, OH. :)
