here (I am still working on a post for day 4). On our last day, we decided to explore the Pisac Sunday market. We had about 6 hours to kill before catching our first flight home. The market wasn't on our to do list but I am so glad we decided to go. I had the best time! The Pisac Market is one of the most famous markets in the Cusco region. Pisac is about 20 miles from Cusco. Buses and minivans go from Cusco to Pisac throughout the day. Tickets will cost $2 per person each way. However, you have to be at a specific station at a certain time to catch the right bus. We didn't want to risk being late for our flight so we ended up hiring a private driver. The driver took us there, waited 2 hours while we shopped, drove us back to the hotel for $75. Totally worth it. It was a 45 minute ride though the most beautiful scenery.
The Pisac market is a great place to pick up some last-minute souvenirs. There are so many vendors selling all things Peruvian: blankets, sweaters, hats, scarves, mittens and every sort of souvenir. It's a cash only market. Despite being touristy and having many stalls with touristic product, this market was still really fun to shop. I found some great finds for friends and family. I will share what I bought in Peru in the next post. I loved the fact there was little pressure to buy which made the looking more enjoyable. All in all, my husband and I had a great time. It was a fun experience! If you're visiting Peru, definitely check the market out.
