Petite Fashion Challenge # 3

Petite Fashion Challenge # 3 is finally here. I was so behind on this challenge. Thank goodness, I did manage to complete this challenge.  Let’s see how well I did…
When looking for outfit inspiration, I usually turn to female celebrities . I adore so many style icons such as Jessica Alba, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Anniston. The one that stands out the most is Kim Kardashian. There is no denying that she is a beautiful girl with gorgeous curves. She knows how to mix high-end and low-end pieces, dressy elements and casual items. Best of all, she loves her body. She embraces her curves and is comfortable in her own skin.

I am a sucker for reality TV shows. You bet I will be in front of the TV at 10:00 EST Sunday night watching “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”. Although she is not petite but I adore her style and fashion sense. I chose Kim Kardashian’s signature look for Petite Fashion Challenge #3. Her go-to outfit consists of a black boyfriend blazer, skinny jeans, oversized bag and statement jewelry. She has been spotted many times wearing her signature look. It’s not hard for me to search for one of her inspired outfits. I found this photo from Google images and immediately in love with her outfit. It’s casual but yet chic and stylish.

LORAC purchase from Hautelook

Ladies,

Just a quick post today to let you guys know Lorac is on sale today on Hautelook. Click here if you need an invite. I am clueless when it comes to make up. I don’t have a case full of makeup products like some other ladies do. I have been following some of makeup gurus and learned so much about makeup products. I recently purchased LORAC aquaPRIME Oil Free Makeup Primer from Hautelook at a decent price. It is still full-priced at Sephora. **Update** This product is on sale on Hautelook right now for $8.00 (from $30.00). I have been using this product for the past 2 weeks and I love it. I will do a full post on some of the makeup products I have recently purchased.

Sale starts at 11:00 AM EST so be sure to check it out. I have purchased from Hautelook multiple times and everything went relatively well.

Have a great week, everyone. Don’t forget, Petite Fashion Challenge #3 is due tomorrow :)

Giveaway winner

Ladies,

I have been super busy lately so I didn’t have any outfit post scheduled. My stuff is still in the suitcase from the trip to DC. I have tons of laundry to do, getting costume ready for little one. Since she is going to both private and public schools, she is having two costume parades this week. I feel like I have been moving non-stop since I got back from DC. That’s what I've got for being away from home a whole week. I also seriously need to come up with something for Petite Fashion Challenge #3 this Thursday. There are several ladies have completed their challenges. I cannot wait to see everyone’s outfits this Thursday.

I am happy that hubby was able to make it to Washington DC to see me after my training. There are many interesting places to visit in DC. We booked the Washington DC night tours, tours of Capitol Building (I highly recommended this tour if you are going to DC). The building is spectacular and full of history. We also visited The Smithsonian museums and the White House. It was a long drive back home but I am glad to be home. I missed my own bed 'cuz nothing feels like home. I’ll leave you with some beautiful photos from DC :)

Petite Fashion Challenge # 3

This month, I am so excited and honor to host the Petite Fashion Challenge # 3. Everyone seemed to enjoy the Petite Fashion Challenge #1 and the Petite Fashion Challenge #2 including myself. If you are interested in hosting a future PFC, click here to sign up. It was fun to see how everyone overcame the challenge based on their own fashion sense.
Petite Fashion Challenge # 3 is…"The look for less"

I have always been a big fan of the show  “The look for less”.  I love to see and review fashion trends, fashion shows, fashion designers, and celebrity style. I understand that not everyone has a celebrity's budget but that should not stop us from dressing like one.
The challenge:
Who is your celeb style icon? Pick an outfit from your favorite celeb and show us how to recreate that look for less. Usually, your style icon reflects your personal style and also your body type. In this challenge, your style icon doesn’t have to be a petite.
How to participate:

• If you'd like to participate and have your own blog, submit your blog's URL using the entry form below. Schedule your post for 8:00PM EST (5:00PM PST) on Thursday October 28.
• To schedule your post: set the desired time and click “Publish”. Last time, I set the time and went to bed. I woke up the next morning and wondered why my post didn’t get posted. Now I know why :)

• Please include the Petite Fashion Challenge button above and link back to this post (just copy and paste the HTML code below)
• I will link everyone's posts and publish at 8:30 PM EST. I know it's kind of early for those of you who live in  SoCal but I can't stay up late anymore :)

• If you'd like to participate but don't have a blog, email me at PetiteLG(at)gmail(dot)com. I will include your entry with everyone's.

Ladies, are you ready for this challenge?

Review: Bebe Petites

Some of you might have heard Bebe launched their petite line a few months ago.  Bebe's petite line is targeted  at women 5’4” and under. I have always been a big fan of them. Bebe carries a nice selection of pencil skirts and it’s almost a guarantee that size zero will fit me. I noticed the other day that more than half of my pencil skirts are from Bebe. Lately, Bebe's style is getting a bit too trendy for me. On the other hand, maybe I should say I am getting too old to wear Bebe clothes. Regardless, I am thrilled that PR agreed to send me a few pieces from their petite line to introduce to my readers.

The package arrived at my door the very next day with a cute little note. Bebe has been around forever. We are all familiar with what they have to offer. I received these items two months ago when their petite line first launched. I know people say not to wear white after Labor Day, but the purpose of this review is to (hopefully) give you guys some useful information regarding the petites fit vs. the standard fit. Below are the items they sent me.  At the time, these were the smallest sizes they carried.

What I am wearing:
Jacket: Bebe Petite Hooded City Suit Jacket in 00R (buy it here)
Cami: Lace Trim Seamless Cami in SP (buy it here)
Trouser: Bebe Petite Wide Leg in 2P - Waist taken in (buy it here)
Shoes: Guess peep toes pumps (buy similar here or here)
Necklace: Lia Sophia (buy it here)
Hair Extension: 22" Straight Hair Extension by Jessica Simpson (buy it here)

Making a life plan

Few weeks ago, hubby asked me “Why don’t you put together a plan for us?” I was like “What?”. Being a project manager for a large pharmaceutical company, he never had less than 3 projects to manage at one time. Every single day, he is dealing with plans, timelines, budgets and things involved with planning. It’s very understandable that he wants me to put together a plan for us.

I’ve never been a long range planner. I deal with things as they come. It’s frustrating sometimes when things didn’t go as planned (well, because there was no plan!). Once in a while, I told myself “I wish I had a plan”. I quickly realize to be successful in life, I need to have a life plan. Without a plan, many of my dreams will only be dreams. Last year, I got a kick out of myself when hubby represented me with his honey-do list. I’ve asked him to do several small projects for the house but never put them on paper. 9 out of 10, I forgot about them few weeks later and things never get done. He decided to make a honey-do list for himself. He checks them off as he gets them done. One by one, he went through a whole list in no time. The honey-do list is just an example of how helpful to have a plan in life. It serves two purposes: 1. Things get done the way we planned and 2. When the list is completed, it gives him a sense of achievement.

I sat down and started asking myself all these questions. What do we want to achieve this year? What is our short/long-term plan? Where do we see ourselves in 5 years (or even 10 years)? What I have below is a master plan (very general) that gives me the big picture of what I want to do with my life.

 Short-term goals
Goals
Timelines
1. I am going to a training in the next couple of weeks to get myself certified. End of October (if I pass the test). This will help take my career to the next level
2. Have the house’s exterior painted before winterCompleted - Thanks to a friend for recommendation. We hired somebody who did such a great job
3. Remodel our master bathroom DIY project
4. Expand our familyIn the near future
5. Plan our dream vacation Planning in progress
6. Move into a bigger houseIn the near future

Long-term goals
My ultimate dream in life is to have a family’s business and I am still working towards that dream (and it's not involved online selling)..LOL :)
One good thing is that both of us are very happy with our career’s choices. As always, there are things such as acquiring new knowledge and learning new skills to improve our careers. There are lots of small steps we need to take in order to reach our goals. (i.e.: in order to move into a bigger house, we need to put X amount of money in savings and in order to put X amount of money in savings, we need to do Y actions). More than likely, our life plan will change over time as our motivations and priorities will change. Regardless of having a life plan for not, it’s helpful to find your life purpose. Having a life purpose gives you meaning in everything you do. It also makes your life fulfilling.
It would be nice if every life experience was a good experience but that’s not realistic. Everyone is unique and everyone has a different perspective on life. We learn through experience and we learn through bad experiences. I’d rather make mistakes and experiencing life than living a life without a purpose. Many people spend their lives waiting for something to happen. That’s not me. I’ll make things happen. In the end, no one is responsible for your life except yourself

Readers, do you make plans for your life? Feel free to share any thoughts

Online Boutique: ShopRuche.com

Today I'd like to introduce to you guys an online store that I am in love with recently. It is called "Ruche". Ruche is solely an online boutique that carries modern clothing with a touch of vintage. I dress conservative for work. My closet consists of plenty of basic and solid colored pieces. Although, I can see my style has slowly changed since I started blogging. My goal is to implement vibrant colors in my outfits especially during summer. I have received this skirt as a gift from Ruche and I am loving it. This skirt is exactly what I am looking for to add a bit of color to my wardrobe.
