Closet remix: 04.06.2011

I am so ready for Spring. The weather is still a little chilly in Ohio but it is getting warmer every day. I’ve bought a few pieces for Spring and can’t wait to wear them. While browsing J.Crew store at the mall last month (I am not sure why I do that since they do not carry petite sizes in store), I spotted the J.Crew cotton bell skirt in a 00. I am pretty sure this was a return. I brought it home with me “just to try”.

I’ve seen the wool version of this skirt on many petites and the cotton version on Vicky of Vicky’s Daily Fashion. I have mix feelings about this skirt. I like the fact that it is different than a typical pencil skirt. Also, I am still on the hunt for a casual skirt after my failed attempt at Gap. I also like the way it fits on me. The elastic waist helps a lot. The length is also great for me. A 00P would have been too short on me. Continue reading..

What I am wearing:
Skirt: J.Crew cotton bell skirt - 00R (buy here and similar here)
Tank: JCP (very old) (buy similar here or here in XXS)
Cardigan: Gap ribbed waist cardigan - XS in baby blue (buy here)
Belt: AT skinny leather belt in burgundy - S (buy here)
Booties: BR Samira Sleek bootie (buy here or similar here)
Necklace: Lia Sophia (buy similar here)

What I don’t like about this skirt is that it wrinkles like crazy. I guess it’s kinda expected for being made of 100% cotton. The color washes me out. I do think $40.00 for a casual skirt is a bit too much. In spite of all the cons, I am still keeping it since I need a few casual pieces for spring/summer

I also picked up this cardigan from the same trip. Originally, I picked up this cardigan in the winter ochre. I loved the color so much that I didn’t even try it on in store. Big mistake! When I tried it on at home, the color looked horrible on me. For me, it wasn’t flattering at all. However, Kileen rocks it. My Mom gave me some coupons and a reward card, I ended up paying $6 bucks for this cardigan. Since it was so cheap, I went back and exchanged for the baby blue one. The material consists of 90% cotton and 10% silk. Hence, it does feel soft. I don’t love it nor recommend to someone who is smaller than me. It’s just something comfy to throw on for a casual look.

I love this outfit!! I have a similar skirt from J.Crew Factory, with the same wrinkle issue. I wear it for 5 minutes and it looks like it was sitting on the floor of my closet for days.

What a great color! I haven't noticed the wrinkles on mine so much as the soooo stiff fabric......did you notice? I have to smooth it down everytime I stand. Other than that I love mine. Have to agree with you about the price though.

I noticed the same wrinkly-ness on the cotton version of the skirt. I think it's meant to have more of the "paperbag"-skirt type look. I think you look great in this color palette. Very spring -- which can't come soon enough!

I love the dusty pink color of your skirt! It's so spring. :)

This skirt is a tad bit expensive but if you're going to get a lot of use - its not too bad. I don't think the color washes you out...

I think the skirt looks good on you, perhaps pairing it with a brighter colors would make it look less washed out?

I'm definitely ready for spring and it's a nice change of pace from the winter blahs. =)

Oh that skirt is very pretty! As Jess suggested maybe pair it with even brighter colours? I'm sooo ready for Spring - well my mind is, but I still have to get myself ready (pedicure, moisturizing my dry legs etc LOL)

I really like the skirt though, I do think it is a tad expensive as you said. And yes I'm ready for spring. I'm tired of the back & forth temps we've been having. At least its not snowing!

@Callandra Yes, I have noticed the stiffness of the fabric. I wish it was on further sale tho.

@Stylepint, @Curls and Pearls Thank you for your suggestion. I am going to try a different color for my top next time.

@Elle Thanks for reminding me. I forgot that Cee and SPG also have this skirt. Can't keep with blogging anymore :)

@Really Petite Thanks, Annie. I’ve changed my layout about a week ago. I am glad you like it.

I love the skirt on you, Sydney. The color is very nice. I also adore the color of the cardigan. I think it looks great against your skin tone.

I love the pink + blue! I actually really like this skirt on you - I love the feminine flair and the little bit of ruffle at the waist. I really wanted this skirt but when I went to the store, they only had khaki and I didn't need another khaki skirt. And online they only had black :( Glad you found this!

Hi there Sydney - just saw your comment on Stylepint's blog and saw you were from Ohio - had to drop a line to say "hi" as I, too, am in this great *chilly* city (Toledo to be exact). Anyway, glad to find a fellow Ohio-person! Will be following you - beautiful dress & pink skirt!
