This month, the
Petite Fashion Challenge # 7 is hosted by Jessy of
TheLittleDustPrincess. This challenge is to
"add a pop of colour (or two) to your little black dress to change up the look. You could add anything from an accessory to a blazer, or even nail polish!"
This is by far the most challenge that I have been participating. I own many black dresses but when it comes to dressing up one, I am clueless. I picked up this little black dress last month at Macy’s thinking it would be a versatile piece to have. Two things about this dress that caught my attention: pleats and lace. Although black isn’t my first choice of color when it comes to clothing but I see potential for a lot of variations. I’ve put together 3 outfits and I hope you’ll like them. Don't forget to vist
The Little Dust Princess for other fabulous ideas. A big thank to Jessy for hosting this challenge!
Outfit # 1: This outfit would be cute for date night or dinner out. As you can tell, I am wearing the exact same belt (buy similar
here) and shoes (buy similar
here) from my
previous post. I know I am boring and/or running out of ideas :) However, I do like the black/red combination. This dress has a very sexy deep-V back which I love.
Outfit # 2: If you’re not into matchy matchy belts and shoes, then try outfit # 2 for a casual look. I just simply added a scarf for a pop of color. I scored this silk scarf at LOFT last season for $4.99 and I love it! It can also be worn as a belt. I can see myself wearing this outfit with flats to run errands on the weekend.
Outfit # 3: I'm always trying to come up with ways to style my clothes. I created the outfit # 3 for the office. I paired it with a leopard cardigan (buy similar
here) and a black belt with a touch of gold (buy it
here). The cardigan also helps covering up the back of the dress.
When I first bought this dress, the skirt had a layer of polyester tulle (see outfit # 1). I am not really into tulle so I snipped it off. Overall, I think this dress would be a perfect transition from day to night, work to play.
What do you ladies think?

All the outfits look great! I love black and red together, and am a sucker for leopard print! I also have that same scarf and bought it super cheap too!
love the cut, so sexy! Business in the front and party in the back. lol.
Lol Khatu!
Agreed, the back of this dress is beyond amazing! And nothing beats crisp pleating.
Great ideas for the LBD. :)

That v-back is so hot! That is a great scarf!!
Regarding your weather comment on my blog...don't be too jealous...it will be a super windy weekend! I am surprised I even got a good picture...most of them my hair was being blown in my mouth!
wow, not 1 but 3 outfits!! i love the different styling ideas. and hooray for both using a scarf as a belt! the pleats on the skirt are absolutely gorgeous and the back is so suuuper sexy.
cute & little
Love it Sydney! Thanks for providing 3 looks! I think my fave is the first!
Wow...I'm blown away lol. Three very different looks (all very nice and presented nicely, may I add) showcasing an already pretty and unique dress. I love the back cut as well. You and Elle are twins in outfit # 1!
Sydney, it doesn't seem like you had trouble with this challenge! 3 different and distinct looks?! #1 has to be my favorite, LOVE the red pairing with the sexy back. Great job!
I love #1! The deep v-neck back is so unexpected with the demure front - very chic! Also love the pleating of the skirt - very on-trend :)
wowzers soo sexy!!! my fav is look #2 with the scarf worn as a belt. very creative and you wear all 3 looks very well, sydney!
You went above and beyond the call of the challenge! I love all three outfits but I am partial to #1 (haha wink wink nudge nudge, outfit twin). I have to say the pleats on the dress makes it so much more interesting than just a plain LBD. Good job!!!
Wow I love this dress, the back is so super sexy! I think you did a fabulous job! Errr for practical reasons what undergarments are you sporting? LOL!
All of them look nice, but I really like the first one. (Found your site from Life of Ann James)
Wow love the back of that dress!! :) it really does work nicely for work or a night out! Great styling :)

Wowie! All three look great but I love the leopard!! I might need to borrow that sometime :) The back of that dress is phenomenal too!
I love the wide range of looks! You are a talented stylist! xoxo Kiki
Love the back of that dress! So pretty! I agree with your decision to snip off the tulle layer...the dress looks 100X more chic without out! I think my favorite is #3, but it's a hard decision because they all look great!
I thought I was seeing things when I saw the first photo with the tulle and then the other ones without it. But ah, you cut them off, I think is a good decision, since it makes the dress looks less costume-y (or less kiddish, as I'm always a culprit of). too bad I don't own red shoes yet, but if I did, I would have worn it for the challenge too, haha. Love how you showed 3 separate looks!
someone is bringing sexy back :P
Love the Red/Black look!!!

Great looks and each one is works for different occasions. The back is all kinds of amazing! =)
The dress is so sexy in the back!!! I think the last outfit is definitely great to transition from day to night. I hope you kept you're tulle though, it would be great if u could attach it for an evening outfit!

*whistle* !!!! You look gorgeous Sydney!!! Stunning....I have no words :D
My favorite is the red/black combination. You're bringing sexy back! ;). I'm a sucker for red, and it's just so va-va-voom!
All the styles work though, and go together so well. That is QUITE the beautiful black dress! Love the sandals!
I agree w/Kelly. #3 has got to be my favorite too.
Gorgeous dress, I love the back!
Love how you're showing the versatility of your (OMG) sexy LBD! The first one is definitely my favorite with the red accessories! Perfect for a date night!
The red one is so sexy! I love the red accents. The third look is great for a more casual feel. Great job, Sydney :D
Thank you for participating! : )
