Review: Ann Taylor Petite Slim Knit Pant in 0P

If you’re a petite, you know how hard it is to find a great pair of pants. Finding a pair of pants that fit is truly a nightmare. Till this day, I haven’t really found anything that I truly love (except the popular LOFT Equestrian Wool Trousers from last year). Imagine how excited I was when Ann Taylor offered me a $100 gift card to try on their pants.

Before placing an order online, I decided to stop by the store to get some ideas. Just as expected, everything was too big on me. As I walked out the store, the Petite Slim Knit Pants caught my eyes. They look very promising on the rack. The smallest size I could find was a 0P. I took them to the fitting room with me. Surprisingly, they fit like a glove.

What I am wearing:
Bottom: AT Slim Knit Pants - size 0P (buy here or in graphite heather here)
Top: LOFT Ruffle Front Top - size XXSP (love!) (buy here - $25.00 now)
Belt: H&M - size XS (buy similar here - on sale and available in XS)
Necklace: J.Crew Glass Pearl Necklace (buy longer version here)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Perfect Leather Pump (buy here)

What I like:
- These pants fit me quite nicely! The waist fits with no gap. They hug my curves in just the right places and don't pull anywhere. Measurements for a 0P as follow: waist = 24 inches, length = 30 inches.
-  I love knit material as they are not itchy like wool pants and they don't need to be lined. They fit like leggings without the embarrassment of the “leggings”. Since they are made from knit material, they’re super comfy to wear.
- I adore the style. It’s way more mature-looking than leggings. It has the jean-pocket style and an actual zipper.

What I don’t like:
- I wish they came in more colors. I am not a huge fan of black pants.
- I got these for $70.00ish (with buy one get one 50% off promotion). It’s still very pricey for a pair of pants. I guess I shouldn’t complain since I didn’t have to pay for them out of my pocket =)

I know several petites also ordered these pants so look out for their reviews. What do you think about these pants? Keep or return? Right now, I'm leaning toward keeping them as I don’t have anything similar in my closet. I also tried on a few different styles in store but they were all too big on me.

From left to right:
1. Petite Modern Trousers in 00P
2. Petite Signature Trousers in 00P
3. Petite Modern A-Line Zip Skirt in 00P (Style # 261646)

Disclaimer: Ann Taylor sent me a $100 gift card to try on their pants. They didn’t ask me to do a review on my blog. This is a 100% non-sponsored review and reflects my personal opinion.

these pants looks great on you and are indeed very slim fitting! and a 30" inseam is actually the ideal length for me for pants that i plan on wearing with heels. thanks for the review, Sydney!

Does the "embarrassment" of leggings = camel toe? I vote return because you said you're not a fan of black pants. They look great on you, though. But I think you'll find things you'll love more with the store credit ; ) I really love that top on you too...been eying it online but didn't see it as part of sales?

love the outfit, apathetic abt the pants. I don't love the crotch, but you can get away w/it. Would have liked the butt pockets to be a bit more formal like dress pants, less knit leggings. These are, by far, best fitting.

sydney, i don't see too much wrong with those pants in terms of fit. i'll support you either you return them or not. lol

I can't believe you'd contemplate a return. They fit you incredibly well- don't pass up on a perfect fit and especially when you didn't have to pay :)

Hands down best fitting pants I've seen you wear on the blog.

Ouu I love the pants. Do you think 00P would fit me if I'm a size 23? :O

it sure fits but not everything that fits looks great n this is def one of them. Not too crazy about them. Have you tried H&M pants? I found that they fit well n also if you have the Papaya clothing store in your area. They have some good petite friendly stuff.

Thank you so much for the review! I will be keeping an eye out for these pants!

I agree...more colors would be great.

Black pants are tricky for me. Some materials collect lint and cat hair like crazy. If this is one of those fabrics, return!! If not, totally keep them! You look amazing in them!

Hi Sydney,
I checked out the link you provided for the ponte slim trousers, but the back side of the pockets in your picture and the Ann Taylor website looks different. The pockets on the pant online are more like dress pant but your picture shows more like jean pocket.??? Are you sure is the same pant?

The pants look great on you, a definite keeper! I'm tempted to get it...is the hip measurement 33.5" accurate for the 0P size?

@swanprincess Hi there,
Thank you so much for pointing it out. I thought they were Ponte Slim trousers the entire time. They are the slim knit pants. Sorry about that!

The pants do fit you nicely but if they aren't your thing, then I think you should return it.

That said...I LOVEED that orange skirt you tried on. It sold out online so quickly and I was hoping to snag it on sale. What did you think of it?

i been meaning to ask you, did you send back that bracelet i broke? please let me know if they will replace it. if not, i want to pay you for it or replace it if they are still selling it. i still feel horrible! :\

I think the pants look great! I tried those on in store too, but they were too long on me. (Ann Taylor also reached out to me with the gift card.) You can see my post here: http://mydressyways.com/2011/08/26/finding-my-ann-taylor-perfect-pants/ and I have a pair of their slim pants from earlier this year that I LOVE (they've been on my blog twice this week). So funny that we have different takes on the slim black pants though. I love mine and think they're a must-have in every closet. Just different tastes I guess!

P.S. I saw that top on sale on LOFT today and really wanted to pick it up (in the same color you have on). Seeing it on you now makes me want it even more!
