Colorblock dress

A few of you have expressed interest in the Geri blouse that I wore in this post so I want to give a shout out to my new favorite online boutique called Velvet. The store based in Indonesia. Their clothes are chic and very affordable. Is it just me or their collections remind me so much of Zara? Velvet wanted me to introduce their July/August collection to you guys a few months ago. Unfortunately, there were a few issues with shipping and the package didn’t make it to my door until 2 months later. The dress that I am wearing in this post is already sold out. However they just launched the September collection a couple of weeks ago, be sure to check it out.

What I am wearing:
Dress: Albertine dress c/o Velvet (buy similar here - comes in petite sizes)
Blazer: Banana Republic - size 00P (buy similar here or here)
Shoes: Banana Republic Jacky Pump (buy similar here)
Necklace: Lia Sophia (buy similar here - comes in 3 colors)
Watch: Michael Kors 5128 in rose gold (buy here)
Nail color: Zoya Jinx (buy here)

It is no secret that I love mustard pieces for Fall. This color block dress instantly caught my attention while browsing their site. This dress runs small. I could go up a size. An XS would be perfect for someone who is a size smaller than me. There was no care/info label attached to the dress so I am not sure what the fabric content is. I asked my husband and he said, care labels are not required for businesses outside of the U.S. To me, the fabric feels pretty much like Ponte/knit material.

I adore this two-town dress. I wish the skirt part has a classic straight cut instead of tulip/pleated cut. However, it’s fun to wear something different than what typically wear. I can totally see myself wearing this dress as a skirt.

Quick review on other pieces from July/August collection:
Maxine Skirt : runs small
Selene Dress: runs big. I have to slim both sides
Mandy Dress: fits me perfectly. Love!
Geri Blouse: runs slightly big but doable. See it on me here.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

This dress is gorgeous on you! Great pick. The colors are muted and classic but the pleats spruce up the overall look. I don't think you'd need to go up a size - it fits perfectly.

I wanted to order a dress but the shipping was going to be $41 for the US... not the most practical place for US shoppers :\

Sydney's Fashion Diary said...

@Anonymous $41.00 is way too high for shipping fee. I’ll check with them and see if there is anything they can do for U.S shoppers.

Oh my gosh, thank you for introducing this company to us! I adore this color-blocked dress on you and think the tulip skirt is quite flattering. I just browsed through their website and agree that the pictures, shop setup, and clothing remind me a lot of Zara. *rubs hands together in glee*

PS - The company's name is misspelled on the second line ;)

That looks so good on you. However is it just me or is there a little uncomfy pleat or folding of the material where the top and bottom come together?

How is the qualityof the pieces? Also, I am a bit nervous about ordering as far as items not arriving etc? Should I be concerned. I love their accessories!

Sydney's Fashion Diary said...

@Cee Thanks, Cee! I have corrected the name =)

@Hillary Blanc Regarding the quality, it probably is in the same range as H&M’s. Personally, I think their quality is better than F21 stuff. They’re very responsive in terms of answering questions so I wouldn’t be concerned about the status of your order. They’re working on reducing the shipping cost starting next month so you might want to wait. Hope that helps!

This dress is gorgeous! Like you I love the mustard color for the Fall season. With the blazer and access. that you've chosen you've made it look effortlessly chic. The photos are beautiful as well, really captures the essence of Fall with the leaves in the background. Thanks for sharing.

Jenny, a question for you. I bought a dark blue (peacock blue) shirt dress, I want to pair it with neutral/tan color boyfriend cardigan and tan pumps. The cardigan is hard to find..any alternatives?
