Review: J.Crew Perry Peep-toe Booties

Another item on my Fall wishlist is a pair of oxford/lace-up booties. While browsing J.Crew's site last week, these peep-toe booties caught my attention. I've heard that J.Crew shoes tend to run small so I ordered these a half size bigger. I am glad I did because they fit perfectly. This is going to be a short review since I decided to return them.

Love:
- The tweed on tweed concept is beautiful. I've always been a fan of constrasting tones.
- The combo is so perfect for Fall and goes nicely with most of everything in my closet

{Wearing: J.Crew Perry Peep-toe Booties - size 7}

Do not love:
- The soles are as slick as oil. I almost felt at home when walking on carpet.
- Although I love wearing heels, they are just a bit higher than what I typically wear. The slickness of the sole doesn't help either.
- The price is a bit steep (especially for fabric, man-made lining and sole)
- I am in general not a peep-toe person.

Even though they're beautiful, they're not just for me. The search for a perfect pair of lace up booties continues. If you have any recommendations, I would love to hear from you.

Have a great week!
Sydney

I think they are cute, but J Crew's prices for shoes are outrageous...and I'm with you about the peep toe bootie thing...cute, but impractical

I think you made a good decision. I sold all my peep toe booties from Nordie's on my blog sale because I never wore them.

These are cute but so expensive!

I actually really like these! One problem with peep-toe booties for petites is that sometimes booties are best worn with dark tights to make your legs look longer. So it's hard to do that with the peep toe (unless you don't mind the tights showing through). Looking forward to seeing your other options =)

Sydney, I love my Aldo CLARY booties to pieces. I bought them last year. See review here:

I just checked Aldo online. They are running out of sizes, but it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on it for returns:

Beautiful booties Sydney and I've heard that Jcrew shoes are soooo comfortable.....but if they're not your style I can certainly see why you wouldn't be keeping them ;)

Obsessed!

Great decision. I didn't think there would be a point of a peep-toe oxford style shoe. Keep on searchin'!

I think you were right to return these...I am not a fan of peeptoe booties. I am sure you'll find better! :)

These are lovely but I don't like the peep toe either.

Oh! I really like these! But I can understand that at that a peep toe oxford is not a good idea since it is more of a winter item. I have never tried tights with peep toe, but I imagine it would look strange. :/

Good luck on your search!

@Vicky, @Summi Thank you both for your recommendation! I will have to check that out.

I do like peep toes. But the J. Crew booties are a little different. Good decision.

I love the look of it and the way it fits on you... but peep-toe booties have never really been my thing... great post though. :)

ahh i've also been on the search for the perfect lace-up booties (specifically oxford heels). i've found a lot but most of them don't have them in my size.

yesstyle is a great place for those, i've found so many options in terms of shoes. my experience is generally a hit-or-miss with this place- the quality of some things are great, and the quality of some other things are mediocre. ANYWAYS there are tons & tons of lace-up booties.

nine west has two shoes:

that i really think you might like; i, personally, like the first one. nine west is definitely more dependable than yesstyle, although both shoes are in the 60-100 dollar range.

i don't know why, but i also love bass's oxford shoes, specifically this one:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/bass-reid-oxford-pump/3182049
i believe you can also find it on 6pm.com (another great selection for shoes), and although there are other similar shoes, those are my favorite of the bunch.

asdfjkl; sorry this is so long, good luck on your search for the perfect shoe! (:

Yes I agree a return ESPECIALLY that you were slipping on carpet! Cute though!

they are very cute but I totally understand. I'm not a big peeptoe bootie girl. I love booties but for some reason, the peeptoe booties throw me off!

I am not going to be a snob but what? Man made lining and fabric outer from J.Crew? I somehow would have envisioned leather lining and leather sole, I am so tired of these 4 to 5 blended together fabrics to create clothing can I get 100% anything these days? If you don't feel like they're you then return them...no sense in keeping! Hope you'll go somewhere fun this year :)

I think these are really cute (the bow!) and affordable: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/landingpages/lclaurenconrad/shoes/PRD~838604/LC+Lauren+Conrad+PeepToe+Booties.jsp
