Pink gingham and wool

I’ve been making several trips back and forth to Old Navy lately. I don’t shop there very often because of their generous sizing. Although, I do think Old Navy has stepped it up as of late. I picked up a few items last week on super sale including this gingham shirt. I wasn’t looking for one because I already purchased the J.Crew perfect gingham shirt not too long ago. While I was there, I spotted a tiny-looking gingham shirt and had to give it a try.

What I am wearing:
Shirt: Old Navy - size XS regular (buy similar)
Pants: LOFT wool trousers - size 00P (buy similar)
Belt: AT perfect skinny leather (buy similar in coral - 50% off)
Shoes: AT perfect leather pump (buy in leopard print - 50% off)
Watch: Michale Kors 5128 in rose gold

A few notes (compared to the J.Crew gingham shirt):
- I am not generally a pink type of girl but was sold on the fit of this shirt. The cut is slimmer in the chest and sleeves than my J.Crew one (I got mine in a 00 regular).
- Material is not as sturdy/crisp as the J.Crew one. It’s more like a casual shirt for the weekend. If you’re looking for a dressier gingham, this is not it.
- The overall length measures 25 inches long. I almost always tuck my shirt in so I don’t mind the length that's a bit on the longer side
- It was on sale for 40% off a few days ago but I couldn’t find it online anymore. Check your local store if interested. It’s also available in yellow – I think?

Since this color is so girly, I wanted to pair it with something masculine. This LOFT wool trousers came to mind while looking through my closet. Till this day, they are hands-down still one of my favorite purchases. Hope you enjoy this outfit!

Now that 2011 is almost over, I hope this New Year fills your life with happiness, perfect health always and much more success.

See you in 2012!
Sydney

I had to de-lurk to tell you how fabulous your look is! It's preppy meets glam. :) have to keep the masculine+feminine combo in mind and try it out sometime. I love how you, Jean, Cee, and Khatu have been glamming up your ginghams. I agree that Old Navy is being more on-trend these days. I saw the yellow one in store and it looked cute, but I picked up the red plaid one and love how comfy/slouchy it is compared to the J. Crew perfect shirt - great for casual days. I already wore it in so many different ways (including an Atlantic-Pacific inspired outfit)! Looking forward to your posts in 2012 (and perhaps that vibrant clam lady day? ;)

I definitely need to take a trip to ON now!! That shirt looks amazing and fits so well! I'm surprised it did for something you got at old navy! Love it with those wool pants. I gotta get some of those too!

I love this shirt on you. With those pants, the shirt actually looks dressy. But I think it can go casual too. And the pink is the perfect color on you.

Hey, is that Starbucks? It's the BEST accessory :O)

I almost bought this shirt Sydney! I ended up buying a different one you'll see it in an upcoming post, it was a mere $9, 100% too. I don't expect top quality at old navy however I have to say in recent years they've stepped up their game. I hope you feel better and get to enjoy some NYE cheer tonight, all the best in 2012.

This shirt looks amazing on you. I am a big fan of pink so I may be a little biased ;) I usually have pretty good luck with ON but for some reason haven't found anything good lately.

Hope you have a great New Year!

I like how you paired the casual shirt with more dressier pants. You look really good Sydney!

Happy New Year!

I totally agree with you - I normally wouldn't consider Old Navy, but they've been making some nice clothing lately! And with their low price point, it's hard to say no! The shirt is such a beautiful colour on you!

Happy New Year! :)

Even though you don't typically wear pink, I think it looks so lovely on you. I'm loving this larger pattern of gingham. I tried on the red / black / white version of this but had issues with gaping at the bust and didn't want to size up. Ahh, the perils of breastfeeding LOL.

LOVING the gingham!! I am obsessed with the J.Crew ones but this Old Navy one is adorable too.. I love the pink. It's girly and not worn as often :)

Hey there! I bought the same shirt from Old Navy and the first time I wore it, I paired it with the same Loft trousers you did! :) Too funny. Only difference is I added a cardi on top. Check out my outfit here: http://mydressyways.com/2011/12/13/how-i-wear-plaid-prep/

I love your style! I've seen a lot of the Ann Taylor perfect leather pumps and am thinking about purchasing them during their next sale! Do you feel they stretch with wear? I love how you add a touch of elegance to the preppy shirt and trousers with those pumps.

@Anonymous Thank you! Since these shoes are made out of 100% leather, they do stretch with wear. You probably should go a half size smaller than your typical shoe size.
