Winterizing a summer skirt: Floral & Lace

I was extremely excited when I saw this floral skirt on the sale rack a few weeks ago at H&M. Of course, I couldn't let a little snow and chill keep me away from wearing this beauty now. Using the same formula that I used here, I think this outfit is appropriate for winter. The key to winterizing this look is to keep the rest of the colors muted. You don’t need a whole lot to winterize your summer pieces, just a few key pieces.

What I am wearing:
Dress (wear as top): Standing collar lace dress c/o OASAP
Skirt: H&M (buy similar here - available in 00)
Tights: GAP opaque tights - on sale!
Booties: Bandolio Cardinal booties (available in navy, grey, black and burgundy)
Sunglasses: Kate Spade Gayla

1. Tights: I practically live in tights during the cold months. Thick, opaque, knit tights will help you get more mileage from your summer dresses/skirts.
 2. Turtlenecks/heavy sweaters: One of the simplest ways to incorporate summer pieces into winter is to simply pair a thick heavy sweater with your summer dress/skirt. It also helps balancing out your outfit and pulling the look together.
3. Boots/booties: Boots and booties are my winter staples. Wearing a pair of riding boots with dresses is a fun way to transition your summer wardrobe into winter.

The lace top I am wearing in this post is actually a dress. It was a bit short for my height so I decided to wear it as a top. Another way to maximize my wardrobe – I guess =)

For the past few months, I've been on a search for the perfect pair of booties. I am glad my search is finally over. I wanted a pair of typical black booties with lower heels and fitted ankles. Everything I tried on was either too high for my liking or the cut was too wide at the opening. After way too many hours spent searching online and trying on pair after pair in the store, I found my perfect booties =)  They run true to size. I got these in a 6.5. If you are in between sizes like I am, go with the smaller size. They fit absolutely perfect and so comfy.

Love the outfit! I'm such a huge fan of "winterizing" my summer and spring pieces b/c Winter items tend to be a bit drab in color. Your booties are fantastic!

Yay. Glad you found booties you like. There are so many shoes out there but only a few that actually suits what you want.

Beautiful job pairing lace and floral. You look beautiful as usual.
