Review: ASOS PETITE Exclusive Biker Parka

One of the items on my wish list this Fall is a military-inspired jacket. I have a similar one (wore here) but the color is very drab. When ASOS reached out to introduce their petites collection, this jacket immediately caught my attention. My first impression of this jacket was of course the color. It has a true olive almost like forest green color - which is exactly what I am looking for.

What I am wearing:
Dress: H&M *old* (buy similar here or here)
Jacket: Petite Biker Parka c/o ASOS - size UK 4 (on sale!)
Belt: Gold plated belt

Petite Fashion Challenge # 20: Marc Jacobs SS 2013 inspired look

I have to admit – I had a tough time putting this challenge together. Runway looks typically focus on the style and cut. It’s not always easy to replicate those extraordinary looks using everyday pieces. The challenge was even more difficult for me since half of my stuff is still in the storage. Although, I was determined not to buy anything new and use what I already have for this challenge. After hours of scouring the internet for inspiration, I've decided to recreate a look as seen on the Marc Jacobs SS 2013 runway. With the use of stripes and patterns in black and white, the collection was incredible. While everyone was going for a pop of color, he did a marvelous job making basic colors looking amazing. You can watch the entire show here.

What I am wearing:
Skirt: BB Dakota *old* (buy similar here or here)
Dress worn as top: Banana Republic v-neck dress - size 0P

To stay true to the inspired look, I created this outfit using stripes/patterns in black and white. This look is simple, chic and totally wearable. I hope you enjoy this post and I can’t wait to check out everyone’s entries. If you’re interested in hosting next month’s PFC, please sign up here. I am bringing back the PFCs and hope to keep it going this time. If you are participating in this month’s challenge, please link your post below.

Products I love: My favorite lipsticks

Happy Monday, everyone!

I am back from a fun-filled weekend in San Francisco with the lovely Jean, Cee, Elle, SPG, Aubrey and Ping. The trip was short but loaded with great company, excellent hosts and delicious food. So glad I finally got the chance to meet some of my favorite bloggers in person. These ladies are nothing short of amazing. Back to reality - Today, I wanted to do a quick post to share my top 5 favorite lipsticks. I wasn't much of a lipstick wearer until a year ago. Lipstick is a quick way to instantly transform your look from drab to fab when it comes to blog photos. I acquired quite a few since the beginning of this year but the five below are my most used lipsticks.

Scarf print and red lipstick

If you’re a long time follower of this blog, you probably already know I am strictly a neutral lip girl. I tend to stick with neutral lipsticks 90% of the time. Once in a while, I enjoy stepping away from the usual nude/pink shade and trying something a bit more daring. I picked up this Rimmel London x Kate Moss lipstick last week and have been enjoying it. The weather begins to cool down quite a bit these days so I thought it would be nice to wear something a bit more fall like. I am wearing shade # 11. The color is a beautiful muted red. I find this color works well for those who are intimidated to wear red lipstick like I am. As a general rule, I kept everything else on my face neutral.

Off the shoulder

The temperature was in the 90s when these photos were taken. I took advantage of the warm weather and brought out my white denim shorts one more time before putting them away for the season. For this outfit, I paired them with a flowy, off-the-shoulder top. Off the shoulder tops are the perfect way to show off some skin without looking over the top. The temperature has dropped drastically this week. I ran over the weekend and it was so cold. It’s definitely starting to feel like Fall. Happy Monday, everyone!

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target in stores 9/15

You might have heard of the Phillip Lim for Target collaboration will hit stores this Sunday 9/15. While I have mixed feelings about these collaborations, I am thrilled about this particular one. I am not interested in the women’s clothing from what I saw online but can't wait to check out his handbags. The mini satchel (pictured above) is my most favorite piece in the entire collection. I was surprised to see it only costs $35. I was expecting this bag to be more in the $50-75 range. You bet I will snag one for myself this Sunday =). Check out the entire collection here. Will you be shopping the collection? If so, what pieces are you eyeing?

Petite Fashion Challenge # 20: Create your own runway look

It’s been exactly one year since the last Petite Fashion Challenge. I understand everyone has different priorities in life. Between 2 kids, a full time job, an exercise routine to keep up with and a new home to take care of, blogging isn't always at the top of my list. However, this blog is a creative outlet for me. To reconnect with my fellow petite bloggers (the petite blogging community was one of the reasons that I started this blog in the first place), I decided to re-host this month’s Petite Fashion Challenge. Anyone can join as this is not a petite-specific challenge.

The Challenge:
In honor of New York Fashion Week 2013, find a runway inspiration and recreate the look using your own pieces. I love watching runway shows but let’s be real, runway looks aren't exactly practical in real life. Fashion is not always about spending large amounts of money on designer brands and keep up with the latest trends. It’s all about creativity and know how to dress your body type. If you’re up for it, please schedule your post for 8:00 p.m EST (5:00 p.m PST) on Thursday September 26. If you’d like to participate but do not have a blog, feel free to email me. As always, thank you for your continued support and readership!

Review: Lipsy Hi Lo dress via ASOS

I don't get to wear my fancy dresses very often so it was fun to dress up for a friend's wedding last night. A few weeks ago, I was searching high and low for something to wear since all my evening dresses are in the very back of my storage right now. I stumped upon several options and decided to give this dress from Lipsy a try. Based on some of the online reviews, their dresses seem to run smaller. I took a risk and ordered this dress in a size 4 (the smallest size available). Lipsy is a British fashion brand and they carry a decent selection of evening dresses. A size 4 was doable on me but a size 2 would have been perfect. I'm only 5'2 so I was worried this dress would be too long. Thankfully, the hem was not touching the floor. The overall length was perfect for my height when worn with heels. I like the details of this dress as well. It's very different from what I normally wear. I am typically not a fan of baby pink but the color does give this dress a feminine touch. All in all, this dress was perfect for the occasion and I would recommend it. Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

Style Remix: Ways to wear a cobalt blue skirt

This cobalt blue skirt from Ann Taylor remains one of my favorite pieces from my own closet. I feel a bit intimidated by the color at first but surprisingly, it's unbelievably versatile. I've been wearing it countless times since last year and will continue to find ways to recreate different looks. Today, I'm participating in Putting Me Together's One Piece, Many Ways link up. If you're looking for ways to remix your wardrobe, I highly suggest you check this feature out. Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!
