JIA Collection: Abbee Reversible Dress

It is no secret that I love wearing an item of clothing different ways. Hence, this reversible dress is totally up my alley. I recently discovered JIA Collection and I am hooked. The concept is really cool. JIA Collection is full of highly versatile pieces with multi-functions and looks packed into one. Every single piece of clothing can be worn at least 2 ways. Naturally, I couldn't help but style this dress multiple ways. JIA offers free shipping & returns on all orders.

What I am wearing:
Dress: JIA Collection Abbee c/o - size XS
Sunglasses: Karen Walker
Shoes: Target wedges, Express sandals, Banana Republic pumps
Cardigan: Ann Taylor *old*
Skirt: Ann Taylor Factory *old*
Bag: J.Crew Tartine mini satchel (review here)
Clutch: All 3 by Kate Spade

For look # 1: I wore the dress as is (no alterations). The length of the dress is a tad longer than what I would normally wear. However, I love wearing a midi-length dress once in awhile. Below the knee length dresses give off the ultra-feminine and classy look. Measurements of a size XS are: overall length = 41" and waist = 14" (laying flat). For look # 2: I wore a skinny belt underneath and pulled the length up to help shorten the dress. The trick totally changed up the look. Of course, I couldn't help wearing this dress as a skirt by pairing it with a cardigan. As for the final look, I tuck it into a skirt and wore it as a top.

We often hear people say it’s too warm to wear a knit dress in summer but the material is actually very cooling. Fabric contains 42% silk, 39% viscose, 14% polyester and 5% metallic. The dress is form-fitting but not skin tight and super comfortable on. If you’re interested in this dress, you can get 2 stackable discounts by following the steps below (discounts can be used towards any item in the collection)

June purchase: AQUA floral print scuba dress

I bought this dress for my vacation in June. It was my first purchase ever from AQUA (Bloomingdale’s exclusive brand) and I am impressed. I was looking for something fun, unique, flirty and low maintenance and this dress met all my requirements. I love the scuba-like fabric this dress is made of. It holds everything in place yet is very comfortable. The material does not wrinkle at all. This dress kept its shape perfectly right out of the suitcase. If you are a fan of Clover Canyon dresses, I highly recommend you give this dress a try. There are no Bloomingdales stores in Ohio but I definitely will keep this brand in mind for future purchases.

Previous monthly purchases:
January | February | March | April | May | June

What I am wearing:
Dress: AQUA fit and flare dress - size XS
Sunglasses: Burberry round frame
Sandals: Express *old*
Bag: Chanel (same bag - preowned)

Stud earrings for everyday

I am a stud earrings girl through and through. Silver stud, pearl, monogram disc, solitaire - I love them all. I have a small (but growing) stud earrings collection that I rotate every single day. They're so easy to wear, timeless and of course, very office-friendly. When Anjolee reached out to see if I am interested in collaborating with them again, I couldn't help but pick out another pair of stud earrings to add to my collection. I had the opportunity to work with Anjolee in 2011 and am thrilled to partner with them again.

The Foyer (Take 2)

Since this post, we've made a couple of minor changes to the foyer. I was in a hurry to decorate our place for the house warming party and overlooked some of the important keys. I replaced those glass vases with the metal ones for safety reason. My 22-month old is all over the place these days. These vases wouldn't hurt her if she happens to knock them down. I bought them from Hobby Lobby. Even though they're made out of metal but they're very lightweight. The color seems to compliment the area well. I also gave my oldest one the sheepskin rug and replaced it with a more mature-looking one from Pottery Barn. We love all the different warm tones and are very happy with how everything turned out this time.

Floral drop-waist dress

I featured many pieces from Chicwish in the past but this dress is my absolute favorite. I love everything about this dress (the print, the cut and the fit). The drop waist silhouette gives the dress a fun and flirty aspect. I got it more than a month ago so unfortunately, it's no longer available. I found a few similar ones here, here and here if you're interested.

What I am wearing:
Dress: Chicwish c/o (same dress - new color)
Sunglasses: Karen Walker Number One
Sandals: Express (this year's version)
Bag: Chanel (same size w/ gold hardware)
Nail polish: Sinful rise or shine

Get It or Forget It: CG Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation

To add more variety to this blog, I am starting a new series called "Get It or Forget It" to share my thoughts on non-fashion related items. First up is the Cover Girl Outlast Foundation. This is my 2nd bottle and I absolutely love it! For the most part, I am a drugstore makeup kind of girl. I think a lot of drugstore cosmetic companies stepping up their game lately. If you do your research, you'll find some amazing products. I used the entire bottle of this foundation and I am about 1/3 way done with my second bottle. This particular foundation keeps my face matte all day. I put on my makeup around 7:00am and my face stays matte until 3:00pm without any touch-up. This foundation feels lightweight on my face even though it is a medium coverage that can easily be built up into full coverage. It also contains SPF 20 which is always a plus. I am currently wearing shade #840 and it suits my skin tone well. I don't wear foundation everyday but on days that I need to, this is what I will reach for. Click here to read my other "Get It or Forget It" posts.

Verdict: Get it =)

Ways to wear a strapless maxi dress

I love wearing maxi dresses in the summer. They are hands down one of the most effortless ways to look fashionable and chic during those hot summer months. This particular maxi dress is insanely comfortable and flows beautifully as you walk. You always hear that vertical stripes make you look taller. Diagonal stripes would have the same effect. I came up with 6 different ways to wear this strapless maxi dress but the versatility is endless. Which one is your favorite? Linking up with Manic Monday today!

Navy & Floral + #AdelaMeiPetite IG Contest

Navy is a classic color but often overlooked. I have less than a handful of navy items in my closet. It's a very versatile color that can be paired with most neutrals as well as prints/patterns. For this outfit, I paired this navy colored tee with my trusted floral skirt and am loving the end result. I like how the subtle grid pattern makes a tee less boring. This tee is from a brand called JOA via Adela Mei. Adela Mei is an online boutique dedicated to petite fashion. If you're 5'4" and under, I highly recommend you check them out. Adela Mei is hosting an  #AdelaMeiPetite Instagram contest right now. All participants will receive a $20 gift code to spend online. Click here to see how you can enter

Matching separates

The matching separates trend is taking center stage this year. If you're a long time follower of this blog, you know I love to wear an item of clothing different ways so naturally, I am a huge fan of this trend. So glad I got my hands on this set. Both the top and the bottom fit me to a T. They run really small. I would have probably gone with a small instead. I have to remember not to over-drying them. For those who're interested, the skirt measures: waist = 12", length = 24". The top measures: shoulder-to-shoulder = 11" and overall length = 15". Both pieces are fully lined. I am looking forward to style them separately.

Striped moto jacket

The weather cools down quite a bit this week and I am loving it. The breezy mornings offer the perfect excuse for wearing this little number. This jacket is from a brand called Sanctuary which I've heard of before but haven't tried on anything in the past. I am glad that Le Tote included this in my latest tote (see other piece in my tote here). The fabric feels like terrycloth, very comfortable and does not wrinkle with wearing. This jacket definitely sparked my interest in checking out other items from Sanctuary. Linking up with Tara's summer style today!

April purchase: J.Crew Tartine mini satchel in pebbled leather

Clearly, I am super behind on posting my monthly purchases but better late than never, right? This J.Crew satchel was the only thing I bought for the month of April. It is of course no longer available but I still want to share a quick review. This one is almost identical. This purse was available in 2 sizes: the regular and the mini. I got the mini one which I thought was a tad small for me originally. However, after using it for a few weeks, I am convinced that the size is perfect for me. I try not to carry too much stuff on a daily basic and this bag is a great choice for daily use.

I am a huge fan of pebble leather. I love textured leather in general. The leather is incredibly soft yet durable at the same time. I love that it's not the typical black or brown. The pewter color is different but plays well with other colors of all ranges. I tend to lean towards silver hardware when it comes to handbags. However, I think the gold hardware compliments the pewter so well in this case. This J.Crew satchel has a very similar design to the popular Givenchy Antigona. Below are a few options if you're looking for a similar design.

Tex Mex skater dress

I received this dress in my 3rd Le Tote box. My very first box was a complete fail. I sent it back without featuring any of the items in the box. For the 2nd box, I only liked one item. However, I absolutely love everything this time. This tribal-print dress caught my eyes right out of the box. One thing I appreciate about Le Tote is that I get to try many new brands. This dress is from a brand called Sugarhill which I've never heard of before. I love the print and the dress also fits me quite well. Buy the same dress for 50% off here. I wore it to work several times and have received many compliments. I also received this jacket and this blouse in my latest box. I will post them later this week. If you're on the fence about trying Le Tote, I highly recommend you give it a try.

Micro-flare white jeans

White denim is my summer must have. I am super excited to add these to my closet since I wear my GAP skinny jeans to death. Finding the perfect pair of jeans is hard – finding the perfect pair of white denim is ten times harder. I personally love  mid-rise jeans. This particular pair feels amazing on. They are extremely comfortable and very flattering for my body type. They have just the right amount of spandex to give a little without making them too tight. Measurements for a size 25 are (after washed/dried): waist = 13", inseam = 32" and overall length = 40". Being only 5'2, the average jean length is always a bit too long on me. I washed and dried these jeans twice before wearing and the length shrunk about 2 inches. They're now perfect when pair with high wedges. Click here if you're interested in trying them at home. We took these photos during our daily walk around the neighborhood and I loved the soft glow in the background when the sun goes down.

Back to basics

When it comes to weekend dressing, I'm definitely a minimalist. A pair of boyfriend jeans and a slouchy tee are my weekend uniform. If we're going out for dinner, I will throw on a blazer and a pair of heels to complete the look. This blazer is the softest and most comfy structured knit blazer I have ever tried on. I adore the clean lines and the contrast when paired with a black tee. Click here to try this blazer from the comfort of your home. Happy hump day, everyone!

It is light enough during the day and perfect for cooler summer nights. While the first look is office-appropriate, the second look is fun for a date night, this final look here is the ultimate weekend outfit. I hope you find some inspiration and enjoy the series as much as I do! Linking up with Manic Monday today.

Blush pink and white

I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July. I spent a full day with my family and indulged ourselves with great eats. When you have a 9-to-5 job, it's always nice to have an extra day off. Onto this outfit, pink probably is my least favorite color when it comes to clothing. However, there is nothing screams summer like the combination of blush pink and white. This top, once again has proven to be the perfect piece to pair with a high-waisted bottom. The weather cools down quite a bit in the Midwest and I am enjoying every bit of it. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your holiday weekend!

From weekdays to weekends with Karen Kane - Part II

{Showing: Left | Middle | Right}

Sharing the second look today in collaboration with Karen Kane. This little fit & flare dress can be easily transformed from the office to Friday happy hour to a night out with friends. While I had to make a minor adjustment to my first dress, the 2nd dress was truly a perfect fit. I like the fact that the top part is different from the bottom part. At first, it appears to be 2 separate pieces but it’s just a one-piece dress - making it completely effortless to look put together. Hope you are enjoying the series so far. Stay tuned for the final look I put together for Karen Kane this week!
