A bag review :: Teddy Blake Lydia Dollarino Tote

Hope you’re having a great week! Holiday shopping season is in full swing. I want to get this review up just in case you’re looking to get a work tote for someone. At the beginning of the summer, I started going to the office 4 days a week. It was a big change for me as I was working from home for 2.5 years. Now that I am going back and forth between home and the office, I have to carry my work laptop home with me every day. I wanted a tote bag that would fit my laptop and have room for other essential items, the Teddy Blake Lydia Dollarino tote is the perfect choice for me. I've done quite a few reviews for Teddy Blake. You can read previous posts here.
I was looking for a work tote that will stand the test of time but at the same time, I don’t want to pay a high price tag for it. A work bag is something that will get beaten up eventually. What I like about the Teddy Blake Lydia Dollarino tote.

  • The size is perfect for what I need: The bag measures 10.6" (H) x 5.5" (W) x 14.2" (L). It fits my work laptop perfectly with room to spare (I have a 13” laptop)
  • I love the fact that it has one big compartment. I can understand having a divider in a bag but for me, I don't like to rifle through a divider. It also takes up a lot of space.
  • The central compartment can be expanded to fit more if needed
  • Available in 7 colors from fun to neutral shades. I decided on a neutral one because it goes with everything in my wardrobe
  • There is a generous interior zipper pocket where I keep my badge and parking pass
  • The adjustable shoulder strap is what sold me. Wear it as a single cross body strap or double it up as a shoulder strap,
  • The chain shoulder straps come with a soft and comfortable leather guard to save my shoulder from unwanted bruising. My work bag can get super heavy.
  • I love the pebbled calf leather. It gives off a luxurious look yet durable for everyday wear
  • The gold tone is muted and so not in your face as I am a silver kind of girl
  • The bag has a sophisticated and timeless look with no prominent logos

I’ve been carrying it to work for over a week now and I love it. If you’re looking for a functional luxury work tote bag, I highly recommend you look into this one.

Unboxing :: Chanel Caviar Chevron WOC In Red

ChanelUnboxing2016_SydneysFashionDiary

Today, I have a little reveal for you - my gorgeous Chanel wallet on chain in the chevron print. This is a replacement of my navy timeless WOC. I always wanted to add a red bag to my collection at some point. This particular piece was from Chanel's 2016 Spring collection. It has the most beautiful classic shade of red. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the last few pieces (purchased in March). I won't go into details as I've talked about the wallet on chain to death on this blog. I personally think it is one of the most versatile pieces from Chanel. Hope you enjoy a little eye candy today and have a great weekend!

Review: Prada Cuir Medium Double Bag in Marmo

PradaCuirDoubleBag_SydneysFashionDiary

For this week's handbag chit chat, I wanted to do a quick review on this Prada Cuir Double bag. We purchased this bag in September as a gift for my birthday. I've been looking for a tote to add to my handbag collection for quite some time. A few years ago, the Prada Lux tote was (and still is?) very popular. I like the bag for the most part but feel like the style is too dressy for my lifestyle. I liked it but wasn't enough to make a splurge. I ended up getting the Tory Burch Robinson tote as an alternative but eventually found a new home for it because again, the style of the bag didn't fit my lifestyle. I work in IT without interact with clients so the style of the bag is too formal for work and it doesn't work as a weekend bag for me, either.

{ Absolutely love the saffiano texture}

Fast forward a few years later, Prada came out with the Cuir double bag, I am head over heels in love with it. However, the price tag requires some serious thinking and savings. One of the disadvantages of living in a small city is that you don't have the privilege of trying on luxury items beforehand. Hence, I've done a lot of buying and selling in order to find what works best for me. During our trip to Chicago, my husband and I stopped by the Prada boutique on Oak St and tried on this bag. It's available in a handful of colors but I absolutely love the dark gray version. The official name is Marmo. The light gray version is called Pomice. However, I didn't purchase the bag during that trip. A couple more weeks went by and I finally pulled the trigger a few days before my birthday. I did look into the Chanel Grand Shopping Tote but it didn't make my heart sing =)

I've had this for almost 2 months now and below are some of my thoughts:
  • It's super low maintenance. The saffiano leather is durable and the bag itself doesn't seem to lose its structure over time (one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to handbags)
  • This bag comes in 3 sizes: mini, small and medium. I have the medium and it has more than enough room to carry everything you need and then some. Measurements: 13½” (W) x 10″ (H) x 6.5″(D)
  • It has a snap flap pocket in the middle for small items such as your phone or wallet (there are no other pockets or storage inside the bag). The flap was designed to provide some organization to the inside and also helps the bag hold its shape
  • It comes with a detachable and adjustable shoulder strap. I wear it on the last hole and the strap length is just right on someone my height (5'2")
  • The handles have a little strap that you can snap to keep the handles close together for added security
  • I love the fact that it has some structure without being too stiff like the Lux tote

August purchase: Chanel caviar wallet on chain (WOC)

Chanel caviar WOC

August purchase was actually a gift from the husband. We just celebrated our milestones anniversary last month. The plan was to take a trip somewhere but his travel schedule was just too crazy for the month of September. Since we decided to forgo the trip, he said I can cross something off my wishlist as a gift for our anniversary =) I ended up getting the Chanel wallet on chain in navy. I was looking for a non-black, caviar, silver-hardware WOC and this little beauty couldn't be more perfect. I can't even express how much I adore this bag. It's classic, timeless and functional at the same time. I am not going to review this bag. These days, you probably can find anything you want to know with a few Google searches. Pre-own Chanel WOCs are widely available on the market these days. Just a quick search I found many pre-owned versions available here or get the exact same one here.

April purchase: J.Crew Tartine mini satchel in pebbled leather

image
Clearly, I am super behind on posting my monthly purchases but better late than never, right? This J.Crew satchel was the only thing I bought for the month of April. It is of course no longer available but I still want to share a quick review. This one is almost identical. This purse was available in 2 sizes: the regular and the mini. I got the mini one which I thought was a tad small for me originally. However, after using it for a few weeks, I am convinced that the size is perfect for me. I try not to carry too much stuff on a daily basic and this bag is a great choice for daily use.

I am a huge fan of pebble leather. I love textured leather in general. The leather is incredibly soft yet durable at the same time. I love that it's not the typical black or brown. The pewter color is different but plays well with other colors of all ranges. I tend to lean towards silver hardware when it comes to handbags. However, I think the gold hardware compliments the pewter so well in this case. This J.Crew satchel has a very similar design to the popular Givenchy Antigona. Below are a few options if you're looking for a similar design.

Review: Tory Burch Robinson Double-zip Tote in Luggage

A few readers requested a detailed review of my new Tory Burch double-zip tote...so here we go. I started looking into this bag 3 months ago. I love the way it looks online but wanted to see it in person before I take the plunge. I went to my local Saks and tried on the black one back in December. The Robinson tote can be purchased at high-end department stores such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales as well as Tory Burch’s site for $575.

{Showing: Tory Burch Robinson Double-Zip Tote in Luggage - link to the current version}

After seeing/touching it in person, the next step for me was to look for some kind of a discount. I think I've said it before – I don’t mind preowned as long as they meet my requirements. Both of my Chanel bags are preowned and I love them. I wasn't going to buy a preowned Tory Burch but I wasn’t opposed to the idea, either. I watched a few of them on eBay and they all ended up around $475ish. The savings is not significant. I decided to hold out a little longer to find a better deal. A few weeks ago, there was a listing on eBay for a brand-new tote for almost $200 less than the retail price. The first question that came to my mind was why? The reason is that this particular tote was made before summer of 2012. The lining for the Robinson Double-zip tote was redesigned last Fall. Hence, the solid canvas lining vs. the logo jacquard lining. Other than that, everything else is identical to the current version.
