Labor Day edition: Fitting Room Review

There are so many great sales this weekend so I thought I'd quickly share some fitting room pics just in case you're interested. Labor Day weekend is a great opportunity to score some end-of-summer deals as well as new Fall arrivals. I went shopping specially looking for a lightweight jacket for Fall. Hope you'll find this post helpful and I will update the blog with steals and deals throughout the weekend.

BR Wool Jacket

***UPDATE**Banana Republic: Take$75 off $150, $40 off $100, $25 off $75 with code BRWEEKEND. First up is this boiled wool moto jacket - The jacket is beautifully constructed and the material has substantial weight. Loved the gold details. I tried on a 00P and couldn't have asked for a better fit. I personal think this jacket is even doable in mild winter with a sweater underneath. I am not a fan of boiled wool fabric. Lapels didn't lay flat when unzipped for some reason.

BR Moto Jacket

Banana Republic textured moto jacket ***UPDATE: This jacket is now on sale in petite sizes. Regular sizes are still full-price. Can be combined with code "BRWEEKEND" - size 0 regular: This is my favorite item out of the bunch I tried on. Loved the soft material. My local store doesn't carry this jacket in petite sizes. I am wearing a size 0 regular here and it was a tad big thoughout. I am going to place an order online and will keep you posted. I can see myself wearing this jacket to work as well as out on the weekends.

Saw this adorable tee in-store but for some reason, it's not available online. Loved the fit but it's obviously too sheer. I would have brought it if the material was thicker. Banana Republic piped tweed sheath dress - size 00P: Again, this dress fits me really well. It's one of those classic dresses that can be worn year after year. The material feels nice in person and the dress is fully lined. I don't need anymore work dresses but wanted to share a quick pic.

GAP jacket

GAP: 20% off your purchase with code HAPPYQuilted knit bomber jacket - size XS regular: I tried on this bomber jacket 3 times in store and still couldn't make up my mind about it. It's super comfy (like wearing a sweatshirt). I really love the fit and think it's an awesome casual jacket for the weekend. I am just not 100% sure yet. If it's a moto-style jacket, it would be a complete different game =)

Ann Taylor shoes

Ann Taylor: 50% select full-price styles and all sale styles. Couldn't find any of these shoes online but they're on crazy sale in-store. The left pair is $9.99 (saw a size 5 in my local Ann Taylor store). The right pair is $7.49. Keep in mind they're final sales.

I posted this picture on Instagram but wanted to mention it here just in case you don't have an IG account. This jacket runs small (I am wearing a size 0P here). I loved the sleeve length and the overall length. However, the sleeves get wrinkled easily (see pics). The regular version is 50% off this weekend but the petite version is still full price. What's up with that?

Express leather jacket
Express Cropped Top| Pencil skirt | Zebra skirt | Knit moto jacket

Express: 40% off every single item in-store and online. I tried these pieces on last week just for fun. The patterns are definitely too much for me. The set is adorable in person and fits really well. I even liked the longer length. Wish they had it it a more suble pattern. Same with the midi skirt, loved the fit but did not care for the zebra print (I am wearing a size 00). The jacket was just OK. It looks a bit cheap in person.

Review: ASOS Textured Body-Conscious Dress

ASOS Floral Dress 3

Since this dress didn't work out for me (reviewed here), I made another attempt by ordering this ASOS floral dress to try. The dress is beautiful in person. Even though it was almost perfect for what I was looking for, I ended up returning it as well. I loved the fit and everything but I feel like it's one of those dresses that you would wear once for a special occasion and will never wear it again. I quickly snapped a few pics for this review before sending it back just in case you're interested.

JOA printed short set (take two)

JOA printed shorts and chambray shirt

Continuing from my previous post, below is how I wear this set separately. For the first look, I paired these fun shorts with a chambray shirt for a relaxed look. This is definitely my effortless summer outfit. For the second look, I paired the top with a high-waisted skirt. The leather skirt certainly adds a bit of edge to the outfit. This is what I call a summer-to-fall transition look. If you’re interested in this set or any items from PDT Shop, please use code SFDLOVE20 to get 20% off your entire purchase plus free shipping. JOA printed short set

JOA Short Set 2

TGIF! I am ending the work week with a fun look featuring this adorable set from Please Don’t Tell Shop. You might recall that I put together 3 Spring looks for PDT Shop back in May and am excited to work with them again. I love everything about this set (the fit, the print, the details). Not to mention the fact that it's so fun to wear. I've been falling head over heels in love with the matching separates trend. Matching tops and bottoms are super versatile. You can wear them effortlessly together like I did here or create different looks by wearing them separately (stay tuned for more looks next week). If you’re interested in this set or any items from PDT Shop, please use code SFDLOVE20 to get 20% off your entire purchase plus free shipping. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

A couple of items from PDT Shop I've featured previously are on sale now:

Look-alike designer handbags

I walked by the Express handbag section the other day and had to do a double take. Some of their designs look similar if not identical to popular designer versions. I have always been curious about what’s people take on this subject. I am fine with designer-inspired versions as long as they’re not trying to pass them off as the real things. One of the reasons I bought my J.Crew bag because I was in love with the Givenchy Antigona. The shape was similar but the overall design wasn’t anywhere close to the designer version. Although, I can’t say the same for these Express handbags below. What are your thoughts on pieces that were inspired by designer items?

Review: MINKPINK Lace Dress

I was looking for a dress to wear to an upcoming special occasion and ordered this pretty LBD to try. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me but I thought I would do a quick review just in case anyone is interested.

Mink Pink lace dress
• This dress is from MinkPink (an Australian-based brand). I would say their sizes are pretty comparable to ASOS sizes. I am wearing an XS in this post and the fit was spot on.
• While I loved the fit, I wasn't too thrilled about the style. I think the dress just looks dated overall.
• For some odd reason, I thought the color was navy. It was one of those let-me-place-an-order-before-I-go-to-bed moments =)
• The lace is super delicate. I am a little too careless to take care of something this dainty.
• While the dress didn't work out for me, I thought it would be very pretty if you’re looking for something a little more dressy and formal.

July purchase: Banana Republic non-iron striped shirt

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I went ombré last weekend. Staying true to my natural hair color for the past 10 years, this is kind of a big deal for me. While I fully enjoy my new hairdo at the moment, I am not sure how long I am going to keep up with it.

BR striped shirt

Now, onto my outfits - For the month of July, I bought this classic shirt and these adorable espadrilles. I know I failed the one item per month challenge but they both were on super sale =) The first item was this shirt from Banana Republic. This is my first non-iron shirt and I must say, I am impressed. You just can't go wrong with a classic striped shirt. The beauty of the blue and white combo is that it goes with almost anything. Below are a couple ways to style this shirt but the possibilities are endless. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Click here to read more about my purchases for previous months. Linking up with Manic Monday today!

What I am wearing:
Shirt: BR non-iron shirt - size 0P
Skirt: H&amp (similar, similar)
Shorts: AE midi shorts - size 00
Espadrilles: J.Crew (on super sale!)
Sunglasses: Kate Spade and Forever 21 aviator
Hat: Forever 21 straw hat

Printed rompers

I love a good romper and this one from Sugar Love Boutique is definitely my favorite at the moment. The print is so gorgeous in person. I don't know about where you live but the weather has cooled down quite a bit in the Midwest as of late. It's definitely starting to feel like Fall around here. I paired these adorable rompers with my trusty denim jacket and this is what I call my perfect weekend outfit. Click here to see different ways to style a denim jacket.

What I am wearing:
Rompers: Sugar Love Boutique c/o
Sandals: LOFT *old* (40% off everything)
Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabanna c/o
Lipstick: Too Faced razzle dazzle
Cuff: Express cuff bracelet
