Fitting Room Round-Up :: Pre-Thanksgiving Sales 2015

It's rare that I go to the mall these days. I spent nothing so far this month on clothes. I have a few fitting room photos on my phone so I thought I'd share just in case you're planning to shop on Black Friday.

Banana Republic: Take 40% off your entire purchase with code BRFRIENDS

BananaRepublicPlaidMotoJacket_SydneysFashionDiary
{Pictured: Plaid moto jacket - 00P}

I loved this coat online and was excited to see it in store. This jacket is a unique take on a popular trend but the proportion is way off. The fur collar is huge as you can see in the photos. The oversized collar definitely overwhelmed my short frame.

BananaRepublicFringeDress_SydneysFashionDiary
{Pictured: Fringe strapless dress - size XSP}

I am not a fan of fringe in general but for this dress, it adds an interesting touch to a rather boring black dress. Love the fit and the material. It'd be a great dress for NYE when pair with a bolero or a leather jacket. I did walk out the store with these gorgeous gold earring for 60% off

ExpressLaceJumpsuit_SydneysFashionDiary
{Pictured: Express lace jumpsuit - size 0}

I was interested in this jumpsuit after reading rave reviews online. True to their words, the jumpsuit is amazing in person. My photo doesn't do it justice. Since the length is cropped on the model, it's perfect on my short frame. I can't say enough good thing about this piece and highly recommend it to fellow petite ladies. The only reason I didn't get it because it's black. If it's available in red, I would be all over it. I already have a similar black jumpsuit in my closet. We'll see. I might be back =) **Update: 50% off everything online and in store until noon Friday**

HMArmyCoat_SydneysFashionDiary
{Pictured: H&M short parka - size 2}

I am on the hunt for a thicker parka for our next winter trip and this jacket caught my eyes. Love the style and the cut but unfortunately, it's not substantial enough. The price tag is a bit steep as well. When this goes on sale, I might pick it up for next Fall. It's a true army green color, fully lined and the length is definitely petite-friendly.

As I walked around, I saw my beloved flared jeans are now marked down to $15 (in-store only). You can read my review here. If you can find them at your local store, I'd highly recommend picking them up. This plaid shirt also caught my eyes. It has the perfect holiday plaid pattern and is 50% off online. I already own several plaid shirts. Otherwise, I would totally pick this up. H&M also just launched their makeup line. The employees were setting up these displays as I walked by. I would have to go back and check these products out. Have you tried any new beauty products from H&M?

BebeFeatherDress_SydneysFashionDiary
{Pictured: Bebe feather dress - size 0}

I haven't stepped foot in Bebe for years. I went there with a friend who is a huge fan of the brand. This fun dress caught my attention. It's truly the perfect holiday dress. Wish I have a place to wear this fancy dress to. It was still fun to try on though

Hope you find this post helpful. I will update periodically throughout the week for Black Friday deals. Please check back =)

Fitting Room Review: Milly for Kohls

I am not really a huge fan of designer collaborations in general. I think it's mostly hype! However, when I heard about the Milly collaboration with Kohl's, I was intrigued. I decided to stop by my local Kohl's to check out the collection. Below are a few pieces that I tried on:

MillyForKolhs_Fit&FlareFloralDress

Fit & Flare scuba dress (size 2): I am wearing a size 2 here and the fit was decent. There's extra fabric in the bust area but doable. The material is scuba like and very comfy to wear. I love the vibrant print and the silhouette.

MillyForKohls_EmpireMaxiDress

Empire maxi dress (size XS): Available in B&W combo, navy combo and red combo: This maxi dress is perfect to throw on with a pair of flat sandals for the warm weather. Again, I love the vibrant print. This dress fits my frame the best out of everything I tried on that day (even the length!). The material drapes well and is very comfortable to wear. The dress is not lined but not see-through either.

The quest for the perfect white denim

A pair of white denim is on my spring/summer wishlist this year. I purchased these GAP always skinny jeans years ago (as seen here and here). While they are not perfect, they have served me well over the years. After 3 years, I knew it's time to find a replacement as they're starting to wear down. What I look for in my new pair of white jeans: quality thick material (not the typical jeggings fabric), skinny cut, mid-rise, preferably under $100 and the most important factor besides the material is the length. I promise myself I won't be cuffing my jeans anymore.

OldNavyRockstarJeans_SydneysFashionDiary
{Old Navy Mid-rise Rockstar Skinny Jeans - 40% off - ends tonight}

I've had good luck with Old Navy jeans in the past so thought I'd start there. They didn't have a size 0 in a short length available so I tried on a 2R. They were just big overall and as expected, the regular length is too long on me.

OldNavyRockstarCroppedJeans_SydneysFashionDiary
{Old Navy Rockstar Skinny Cropped Jeans - 40% off - ends tonight}

Then I tried on the same size in "cropped" length and hoped it might work as a regular length on me. Nope, the length hits at an awkward spot.

WHBMSaintHonoreWhiteSkimmerJeans_SydneysFashionDiary
{WHBM Saint Honore Skimmer Jeans}

Next up is these skimmer jeans from White House Black Market. I own a few items from their petite line but have never tried on their jeans. The material feels nice and seems durable. However, the sizing was way off on me (a 2 was too big and a 0 was too tight). I didn't care for the ankle zippers either.

Labor Day edition: Fitting Room Review

There are so many great sales this weekend so I thought I'd quickly share some fitting room pics just in case you're interested. Labor Day weekend is a great opportunity to score some end-of-summer deals as well as new Fall arrivals. I went shopping specially looking for a lightweight jacket for Fall. Hope you'll find this post helpful and I will update the blog with steals and deals throughout the weekend.

BR Wool Jacket

***UPDATE**Banana Republic: Take$75 off $150, $40 off $100, $25 off $75 with code BRWEEKEND. First up is this boiled wool moto jacket - The jacket is beautifully constructed and the material has substantial weight. Loved the gold details. I tried on a 00P and couldn't have asked for a better fit. I personal think this jacket is even doable in mild winter with a sweater underneath. I am not a fan of boiled wool fabric. Lapels didn't lay flat when unzipped for some reason.

BR Moto Jacket

Banana Republic textured moto jacket ***UPDATE: This jacket is now on sale in petite sizes. Regular sizes are still full-price. Can be combined with code "BRWEEKEND" - size 0 regular: This is my favorite item out of the bunch I tried on. Loved the soft material. My local store doesn't carry this jacket in petite sizes. I am wearing a size 0 regular here and it was a tad big thoughout. I am going to place an order online and will keep you posted. I can see myself wearing this jacket to work as well as out on the weekends.

Saw this adorable tee in-store but for some reason, it's not available online. Loved the fit but it's obviously too sheer. I would have brought it if the material was thicker. Banana Republic piped tweed sheath dress - size 00P: Again, this dress fits me really well. It's one of those classic dresses that can be worn year after year. The material feels nice in person and the dress is fully lined. I don't need anymore work dresses but wanted to share a quick pic.

GAP jacket

GAP: 20% off your purchase with code HAPPYQuilted knit bomber jacket - size XS regular: I tried on this bomber jacket 3 times in store and still couldn't make up my mind about it. It's super comfy (like wearing a sweatshirt). I really love the fit and think it's an awesome casual jacket for the weekend. I am just not 100% sure yet. If it's a moto-style jacket, it would be a complete different game =)

Ann Taylor shoes

Ann Taylor: 50% select full-price styles and all sale styles. Couldn't find any of these shoes online but they're on crazy sale in-store. The left pair is $9.99 (saw a size 5 in my local Ann Taylor store). The right pair is $7.49. Keep in mind they're final sales.

I posted this picture on Instagram but wanted to mention it here just in case you don't have an IG account. This jacket runs small (I am wearing a size 0P here). I loved the sleeve length and the overall length. However, the sleeves get wrinkled easily (see pics). The regular version is 50% off this weekend but the petite version is still full price. What's up with that?

Express leather jacket
Express Cropped Top| Pencil skirt | Zebra skirt | Knit moto jacket

Express: 40% off every single item in-store and online. I tried these pieces on last week just for fun. The patterns are definitely too much for me. The set is adorable in person and fits really well. I even liked the longer length. Wish they had it it a more suble pattern. Same with the midi skirt, loved the fit but did not care for the zebra print (I am wearing a size 00). The jacket was just OK. It looks a bit cheap in person.

Fitting room review: Banana Republic Factory, Kate Spade Factory, Target

I have a few fitting room pics saved on my phone so I thought I'd do a quick post on these items just in case you're interested.

My family and I spent a few hours at the outlet mall this past weekend. I didn't end up getting anything but wanted to share a few items. First up is this gorgeous trench from Banana Republic. Let me start off by saying I love everything about this trench. The color is gorgeous in real life. I am wearing an XS Petite here. As you can tell from the photos, the fit is absolutely perfect on me (even the sleeve length). BR Factory offered 50% the entire store for Columbus Day weekend. I spent forever debating whether I should get it or not. At last, I walked out empty-handed. The style is almost identical to the Burberry Mottram trench (which is my ultimate wishlist item). If you're looking for an affordable trench, I highly recommend this one. I may change my mind and drive back to the outlet next weekend =)

The particular store that I went to also had a rack full of these tweed dresses. I own last year's version. This year, the same fabric is also available in skirt form. I didn't try on either one but wanted to mention.

After purchased 2 bags from a Kate Spade fatory store, I am a fan. I made a quick stop to check out their new arrivals and did a double take when I saw this bag. It's almost identical to the Celine Trapeze (especially the B&W one). Kate Spade factory also had 50% off everything this past weekend. It's a great alternative if you're looking for a similar style. After the discount, it was $200 vs. $4K for the Celine. Yikes!

Quick Review: Old Navy Rockstar Jeans and Canvas Field Jacket

I own one pair of the Old Navy Rockstar jeans (in red – I wore here). However, I wasn't impressed with the materials or the fit. The fabric was stiff and not so comfortable. It also took me the longest time to find the right size. I ended up with a size 2 regular but the fit still isn't perfect. They bunched a bit around the crotch area. I popped into a local Old Navy yesterday because they are having a fantastic sale on denim right now. Due to my previous experience with their denim, I didn't have much hope. I am glad I decided to give their famous Rockstar jeans another try. Dare I say it? Because I found my perfect pair of jeans.

These fit wonderfully (no waist gap, no bunching). I am a fan of the fact that I can get them at the exact inseam I need. I couldn't believe the measurements are dead-on (for me) in the waist, the hip measurement and even the leg opening! The measurements for a size 2 regular as follows: waist = 13”, length = 29”, hip = 30” and leg opening = 5”. They are my ideal measurements. Not only they fit great, the materials also feel wonderful next to the skin. Fabric composed of 98% cotton and 2% spandex. The combination of the higher quality cotton and spandex gives these jeans a soft texture, making them a step up from my other pair. I also tried on the lighter shade pair and the white ones. The lighter ones fit and feel identical to these. Although, I find the lighter shade denim less versatile. As for the white ones, the material is much thinner and for some reason, the inseam was a couple inches longer (same size). I passed on both. These jeans are currently on sale for $19 (was $34.50). If you’re in the market for new jeans, I highly recommend you give them a try.

{Showing: Women's Long Canvas Field Jackets - size XS Regular}

Up next is the Field Canvas jacket (comes in regular, tall and petite). Spring is just around the corner and it seems like everyone is looking for a military inspired jacket. I wasn't intended to look for one but stumbled upon the Field Canvas jacket and fell in love. I have a similar one from last year and have worn it quite a bit. Though, the color isn't as versatile and the length is a bit long for my short frame. I really like the color of this jacket. It is the true olive green instead of the more brownish khaki-olive. Although the jacket is unlined, the fabric (100% cotton) felt pretty sturdy and heavy-duty. I am wearing an XS here and the measurements are as follows: shoulder width: 15”, length = 24.5” and sleeve length = 23”. I also like the interior drawstring. It gives the jacket a cleaner look from the outside. This jacket is on sale online but still full-price in store. I didn't see the surplus khaki in store yesterday. I probably would be more interested in this color instead.

Lunch break shopping

I made a trip to the mall during lunch today looking for some thick heavy sweaters for my ski trip this weekend. I walked out with only one item but wanted to share a few quick fitting room pics.

 Banana Republic – Take an additional 50% off already reduced women’s items during “Happy Hours” (from 5-8 PM local time tonight). I looked through the sale section but didn't find anything interesting. Although, I did buy this belt yesterday. As expected, the XS fits me well. You can score this belt later today for $6.00 in stores.

Lunch break at H&M

Where I work is only 5 minutes away from the mall. It’s convenient but also dangerous at the same time. I typically go there 2-3 times a week at lunch just to look around. Today is one of those days. I didn’t find anything that I liked last week at H&M. Today, with the 20% off coupon in hand, I was hoping to find something there.

I love love love this skirt (couldn’t find it online for some reasons). The color is absolutely stunning in person. It’s a flattering knit pencil skirt in beautiful mint color ($24.95). Comes with a baby pink faux-leather belt. I am wearing a size small in this picture. The fit is perfect and I also am loving the length. However, it’s pretty sheer. It looks decent from the front but shows every lump and bump from the back. I'll spare you the details. I really wanted to take this skirt home with me but decided not to. Verdict: Passed.

Friday Afternoon Shopping Recap

I took half day off today to attend an event at my daughter's school. I had some time to kill before the event started so I decided to stop by the mall for a quick shopping trip. I didn't find a whole lot worth buying/trying but I want to share some fitting room pics with you guys.

Old Navy: I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this Old Navy printed wrap dress, which was $32.94, now marked down to $10.99. It is still full-price online (see this dress on Jean). I am wearing an XS regular and the fit was great. The length is also perfect for my height. My store still has quite a bit left in both colors.

Meeting up with Angie & UO Fitting Room Pics

Yesterday, I had an opportunity to meet up with the sweetest Angie of Pandaphilia. I’ve been a long-time follower of her blog. I was expecting to see a young college student with a cheerful personality. Angie, in real life, is very calm, sweet and down to earth.

Fitting Room Review: Banana Republic's Mad Men Collection

The Banana Republic Mad Men collection is available in stores and online today. I wasn’t going to check it out since there wasn’t anything online that made it appealing to me. All the talk on Twitter got me curious. I decided to stop by the mall after work to check it out. I have to say the collection is rather disappointing. There wasn’t a single item available in petite sizes at my local store. Below are items that I tried on (all in regular sizes). I hope to give you an idea in terms of how these items would fit on you if you’re thinking about ordering online. The SA told me they won't replenish once the items sold out.

1. Leopard print trench ($198.00) - Size XS Regular
I have no intention of buying this trench regardless of the fit. It's just not really my style. I am only showing you how it looks on me. The length is good for my frame but sleeves are too long. The fabric is very thin and feels plastic-like.

Saturday shopping recap

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. My girlfriend called this morning and asked me if I’d like to go to the outlet mall with her today. She should have known that I never say no to shopping LOL :) I wasn’t super excited since I was just there last week. Although I think it would be fun to catch up with her on the way to the outlet and hopefully to score some great deals. Continue reading...

Fitting Room Review: H&M new arrivals

I popped in H&M a couple of days ago to check out some of their new arrivals for Spring. Coral, orange and peach are definitely the top colors for Spring 2011. I ended up didn’t get anything but here are a few items that I brought with me to the fitting room if you’re interested.

HM_Jacket2

Liane of PetiteXXS first tweeted about this jacket. The material is quite similar to the one from the last season (Jean reviewed the jacket here). I missed out on the last one so I was excited to see this jacket in person. It’s a super cute jacket. The fit is incredibly small. I was having a hard time button up a size 2. I have nothing bad to say about this jacket. I didn’t get it (for now) because I really don’t need another jacket. It is available in 4 colors: black, heather gray, navy blue and peachy. Click here for the tag info if you need it. Thanks DoubleZeroP! I am wearing a size 2 in the blue one and a size 4 in the other color. The material is really soft and comfy to wear. It’s just simply adorable. I know this jacket will get some loves from the petite community. Retail price: $34.50. Continue reading...

LOFT: Fitting Room Reviews

***Update*** There were several emails sent out this morning for 4th of July weekend sales:
Ann Taylor: Take additional 40% off already reduced prices. This promotion is for this weekend only. No code is required at stores. To redeem online, enter code JULY40 at checkout.
LOFT Outlet: Lots of great sales going on starting at $7.99
Ann Taylor Factory: Entire store 40% off. Now through July 6th, 2010. Happy Shopping :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOFT is having 40% off the entire purchase in stores and online (with code FIX40). I went to the mall today to check it out. I was surprised that there was quite a few XXSP and 00P still available at the local store. Here are some of my favorite:

Petite Petal Shell Tank With Chain in XXSP ($59.50 plus 40% off)

It's pretty, isn't it? I love the color and neckline details. This top goes with everything. It is a great addition to summer wardrobe.

Petite Mini Spots Ruffle Dress ($89.50 plus 40% off)

The fit was OK. As you can tell from the picture, it was a bit loose around my waistline area. The dress probably will look better with the belt.

Petite Shimmery Jacquard Skirt ($69.50 plus 40% discount)

I love the fit of this dress. It's very stylish and feminine. This skirt comes in 2 different colors (Navy blue and Petal Pink). I was going to get this skirt in Petal Pink but 00P wasn't available at store today. I might have to order it online to take advantage of 40% off.
