Products I love: Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream

Although this is a fashion blog, I love reading reviews on tried and true non-fashion items. With that in mind, I am starting a new series called “Products I love” to share some of my favorites. I hope you find it useful and would love to hear your thoughts as well. Today, I am going to talk about a new product I've discovered a month ago – Smashbox camera ready CC cream broad spectrum SPF 30 dark spot correcting. I’m definitely not a makeup junkie. All my makeup basics like mascara, eyeliner and blush are drugstore products. However, if there is one product I must invest in, it would be a great foundation. I've been using MUFF Mat Velvet (shade 40) for quite some time. I do love it but am due for a new foundation. After reading quite a few online reviews, I decided to give Smashbox CC cream a try. I never got into the BB cream craze but thought CC might be good for me because of some dark spots. In short, CC products (stands for color correcting) are supposed to help you achieve a perfect complexion. Guess what? Makeup companies are now releasing DD Cream (Dynamic Do-all). Isn't that crazy? Anyway, I've been using Smashbox CC cream for about a month now and I can’t really complain.

What I like:
  • It comes in a plastic tube like most tinted moisturizers and makes travel easier.
  • Gotta love an all-in-one product.
  • It's breathable and provides good coverage.
  • It blends well and makes my pores look smaller.
  • The light shade matches my skin perfectly. It seemed too light on me at first but will oxidize and match my skin seamlessly after a few minutes.

What I don’t like:
  • Wish this cream provides a matte finish. If you like a dewy look, this cream is for you.
  • I'm not so sure about the dark spot fading part because I haven’t been using it long enough.
  • If you have oily skin, I would suggest using a setting powder to help eliminate shine and control oil breakthrough.
Overall, I think it’s a great product (especially for the hot summer months when I don't like wearing a lot of makeup). I will continue using it to see if it really helps improve my skin. Readers, have you tried this product (or any CC creams)? If so, what are your thoughts?

  1. I feel that because this is YOUR blog, you can write about whatever you want. And I like reading fashion bloggers' beauty stuff. Many of them are so gorgeously-done - I'd like to know their secrets.

CC cream - I need to try this.

  3. Thank you for the review! But I guess the product wouldn't fit me that good, because I have really oily skin!

  4. Ohh!! that's what CC and DD means! I'm such a makeup noob, I have no idea what I'm doing to my face. This sounds kind of neat, it's like a foundation and moisturizer all in one. I might have to give this a try. Let me know if it ends up doing anything with color/dark spot correction. Thanks for this review! I really like the variety that this blog is taking :) keep it up!

  6. Thanks for the review! I was in sephora awhile ago wondering if I should pull the trigger on it!I might try it out! I'm still working on my diorskin BB which is pretty light and works well too. I don't really see that much of a difference with my skin after using BB and CC creams. I feel like they're all like tinted moisturizers, but it makes me feel better wearing them knowing that it could possibly be getting rid of my dark spots ;P
