Closet remix - 01.03.2011

The holidays are over and it's time to kick start my New Year's resolutions. It was hard to get up this morning and get ready for work. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to save more money and less shopping. With that said, I am starting a new category for my blog called “closet remix”. The advantage of being a wardrobe remixer is that it will keep me creative in my clothing choices. It will also help me to rediscover items that are sitting in my closet with the price tags still on . I am going to dedicate myself to remixing my wardrobe and creating new looks based on what I already have. Today’s outfit consists of some old items (tee and cardigan) mixing with my new Bebe skirt. I couldn't find the skirt online but the model worn it here with the matching jacket. I absolutely love the magenta color. Although I don’t think the tee and cardigan are the perfect match but Monday mornings are the times when I want to get dressed in a rush and run out of the door. I am not going to make it official but please feel free to join me in this challenge if you’d like. Have a great week, everyone!

What I am wearing:
Tee: LOFT Habutai Flutter Sleeve Tee in XSP (Summer 2010)
Skirt: Bebe Tweed Pencil Skirt (picture of the matching jacket here)
Cardigan: LOFT Petite V-Neck Cardigan in XSP (buy it here)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Perfect Leather Pumps (buy them here)
Tights: GAP Opaque tights (buy it here)
Bracelet: Headband worn as bracelet (gifted from Elle)
Ring: Forever21 Rhinestone Glam Ring (buy it here)

i LOVE the outfit you created! the color of that top is so rich and pops against the tweed skirt (which is a perfect fit by the way). just perfect!

Ooooo LOVING it! I am so sad I didn't get that light pink long cardi! It looks so cute!

Great idea to mix and match things in your wardrobe:) And the BEBE skirt is so cute!

I love the last photo! The tee and the cardigan doesn't have to match for it to look stylish, even the subtle difference in shade makes it more glam! Good luck with the remixes...it's one of my fave pasttimes! =)

The closet remix is a great idea! I hardly ever see multiple pieces in purple hues nowadays. I can tell lavender's making a come back once spring rolls around.

Is the Bebe tweed pencil skirt fully lined?

what a beautiful outfit and i love the magenta color! and i also really love the cardigan paired over it as the slightly different shade of purple really brings out the magenta.

i love this closet remix idea. i'm doing something very similar too!

I think this outfit looks so much better than if you were wearing a matching twinset. The two shades of purple are so pretty and complement each other well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one practically repeating the same outfits week after week :P Count me in as a closet remixer. It's quite challenging and fun.

Yay for remixing (I am also trying to curb spending...not as successful though). You have the cardigan tucked into a skirt look down though and it looks terrific (I love that LOFT top - I have the exact same one and really want to wear it more often, so thanks for the inspiration)

I need to save more money too. Love the sleeves on your shirt.

Sydney I love all the ways you wore the pieces! Great inspiration for me. I am actually going to try to do the same thing. It will be challenging as there are definite gaps in my wardrobe but I think making the effort will help me figure out which items I really need to look for and invest in :)

Ohhhh I bought the same top in both colors! Loving the soft ruffle of the sleeves. Great job mixing the two shades and love the tweed skirt! I've been meaning to start remixing for a while but my lust for shopping has kept me from doing it! Maybe 2011 will be kinder...

@Christina Hi Christina! yes, the skirt is fully lined

@Cee I am excited to see your remixes (more inspirations for me)

@Elle I do remember you have the exact same top. I really like it. I am trying to wear the same items all year around.

@curls-and-pearls Elaine, the only way that I get to wear all my stuff is doing the remix. It also helps me to find gaps in my closet. I am curious to see where this remix will take me

Your LOFT Flutter Sleeve is absolutely gorgeous in terms of the design and color. I really love it with a grey skirt and black tights. Kudos to you for a beautiful remix.

You look so pretty! The cut of that top is absolutely gorgeous and the colour looks so beautiful on you. It's amazing against your skin tone!

Great job on the "closet remixing" :)

Have a lovely day!

My fave thing about blogging is seeing what you lovely gals can pull together from your own closets to inspire me to do something from my own! It is easy to always buy the latest and wear that, but it is so much more interesting (and relatable!) to figure new ways to remix old faves!
