What I got for my birthday/anniversary

Untitled {Outfit details: Dress | Chanel 19 bag}
I finally have a moment to sit down and share what I got for my birthday/anniversary this year. We've been extremely busy with Courtney's college application process, Madelyn's sports, work and everything else in between. I had so much fun celebrating my birthday last month. For our anniversary, my husband took me to one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus and we had an amazing time. I wanted to share what I got for the occasions because I love them so much. I went to a local Louis Vuitton with my girlfriends and spotted these beautiful sandals in my size!! I tried them on and couldn't believe how comfortable they are. I decided to treat myself =) They run true to size. I typically wear size 7 in women's shoes and got these in a 38. They fit perfectly. The canvas is very soft. No rubbing/digging.

What I wore to my birthday dinner # 2

NBDDress_SydneysFashionDiary
Sharing what I wore to my actual birthday dinner. On my actual birthday, friends and family took me out for a birthday dinner at Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse. I've been wanting to try this place for quite some time and finally had a chance to do so. The restaurant is very classy and beautiful. The service was top notch and the entire dinner was cooked to perfection. It was expensive but so worth it (our dinner bill was almost $700 for 6 people). If you are looking for a fancy restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, I would 100% recommend Jeff Ruby's. I purchased this dress last month for the occasion and it was perfect. It's classy yet playful. This was my very first purchase from NBD and I am impressed. The quality is so nice! The dress was on super sale and I couldn't be happier. Check out other NBD sale styles here. A special occasion like this is a great reminder of how thankful I am for all the people I have in my life. I can't thank them enough for making me feel special on my birthday and for being a part of my life. What I wore to my birthday dinner # 1

HotPinkRompers_SydneysFashionDiary
I had an amazing weekend celebrating my birthday with friends and family. I feel very spoiled but at the same time, grateful for all the birthday love. On Friday, my girl friends and I got together for a night out. We decided on the Whitney House. None of us have been there before (which makes it fun). We had the best time. We sat outside, had dinner/drinks and just simply enjoyed each other's company. They even sang Happy Birthday to me =) I wore this hot pink rompers that night and I love it. This is one of the rare pink pieces I have in my closet. The color is vibrant and the fit is amazing. Perfect for a night out! I paired the rompers with my new birthday shoes. I had a super-fun night and felt so blessed to be surrounded by these ladies who are beautiful inside and out. I came home around mid-night. My husband drove 14 hours the very next day to bring home something very special (stay tuned!). He left the house at 2:00 a.m so he could be back on time for dinner on my actual birthday. Bless his heart! Outfit details: Hot pink rompers | Jimmy Choo shoes | Chanel bag

What I got for my birthday

I turned a year older today! No birthday blues from me. As the matter of fact, it's the opposite. I feel loved and appreciated. Life is wonderful! I feel like I becoming the best version of myself even more each year. Many fun things are happening this weekend and I can't wait to share them with you. In the meantime, I wanted to share what I got for my birthday. Every year, I save and splurge on my birthday. This year is no exception.

First up is a new bag (of course!). Introducing the newest bag in my collection - The Saint Laurent Nano Sac De Jour in grained leather. I always love a classic burgundy handbag and this one is an absolute dream. I stumbled upon this beauty on Fashionphile and had to have it. The best part? It's brand new with tags still attached at a really great discount. I can't wait to rock it in the Fall!

A birthday well spent

TGIF! It's been a crazy busy week for us. My husband just came back from another business trip at 1:00 a.m this morning. I am so overwhelmed this week that I had to take a half day off yesterday to get some stuff done. Our little angel is turning 6 tomorrow! Where did the time go? My in-laws will be in town this weekend for her birthday party. I've been running around all week trying to get things done. Speaking of birthday, I am sharing a recap of my birthday. I seriously had the best day and feel so loved. We planned to go to NY that weekend so I didn't really have any plans for my actual birthday. My husband took a day off as well. We spent the day together while the girls were at school. We did some shopping and had lunch together. I then went in for my microneeding appointment (if you're interested in hearing about my experience, let me know). I came home and took a nap! Can't even remember the last time I took a nap. The girls came back from school, I made them dinner, spent a bit of time with them before heading out for my birthday dinner at 8:00 p.m. We came home around 1:00 a.m and I could not have asked for a better birthday.

09.07.2018

BirthdayDress_SydneysFashionDiary
Today is a very big day for me. I officially turned 40 today. We're supposed to be on our way to New York right now but something came up so we postponed the trip until the first week of October. No complains from me at all. I am enjoying my day off from work. Tomorrow, we're going out with a small group of friends for dinner to celebrate my birthday. If you're a follower of my blog, you probably heard me talking about my birthday for the past few weeks. Leading up to this day, I feel really good about where things are in my life. I woke up at 4:00 this morning with an overwhelming sense of gratefulness. I started to reflect on where I am at in life, what I accomplished so far and what goals do I set for myself. Today, I am sharing something very personal to me so that you'll have a better understanding of where I am coming from. I am a true believer that life events shape our thinking, our beliefs and our personal development. It was definitely the case for me. I ended 6 years of marriage right before I turned 30. I wouldn't say it was the darkest time of my life because it wasn't. My family was very supportive and I didn't feel like I was going through the divorce myself. However, it was definitely the lowest point of my life. I won't go too much into details. Both parties have moved on. I am obviously remarried and have my own family. The other party is remarried and has his own family as well. It doesn't matter how amicable your divorce is, it's a major life event, it's painful and tiring. The divorce for sure took a toll on me. While my parents gave me their unconditional love and support, they couldn't give me any type of guidance. What I want to do with my future was 100% on me. I distanced myself from mutual friends completely. I just wanted to stay away from drama and judgments (sad but true, people will judge you). I wanted a fresh start and took this opportunity to focus on myself. Slowly but surely, I started to discover my own identity, got to know myself better, what I truly want in life, what should I focus on and most importantly, I have a clear vision of who I am. I become stronger and more independent throughout this whole experience. Things started to turn around shortly after. The past 10 years of my life were full of ups and downs, trial and errors. Looking back, I can't help but feeling great about how far I've come. I wanted to note down some of my accomplishments as well as my goals for the next 10 years (hope you don't mind the bullet points - I am a visual learner). The watch of my dreams

RolexDateJust36mm_SydneysFashionDiary
I've been eager to share what I got for my 40th birthday so, here we go! I've done "what I got for my birthday" post every year for the past several years but I totally understand if this is not your cup of tea. As long as I can remember, birthdays and holidays are always a big deal in our household. I am beyond grateful for having a loving family and a great support system. Let me start by saying this wasn't an impulse purchase. I mentioned briefly in this post that a Rolex watch was the last big ticket item on my wishlist. We've been saving for it and finally pulled the trigger last month. Truth be told, we didn't know much about Rolex watches. One of our "life goals" is to have a matching set of Rolex watches. I really dislike using the word "goal" but not sure what else to call it. It's just something we wanted to do at some point in our lives. We gained a lot of knowledge by talking to the salesman. If you're interested in learning more about the brand or the watch itself (sizing, different types of bands, bezels, dials, how to wind a Rolex watch, how often you should wind one..etc...), let me know in the comment section below, I'll be happy to share the information.

What I got for my birthday 2015

Let me first start by saying that I am not bragging in any way shape or form. I am truly thankful for my loving family everyday. I turned a year older on the 7th of this month. September has always been my favorite month of the year. It's the beginning of Fall/football season, my birthday, my little girl's birthday and our anniversary. I will be the first one to admit that I am very difficult to buy gifts for. I am at the point that there isn't much I need. Heaven knows I have more clothes than the average person would ever need. I don't want my family to spend money on my birthday just for the sake of buying something. However, spending a large sum of money on a birthday gift isn't always realistic either. To solve the "problem", we agreed to set aside a certain amount each special occasion until it's enough to splurge on a big ticket item. It's a way to save up and get what I really want instead of accumulate things in my closet.

PradaDoubleBaginMarmo_SydneysFashionDiary

Prada double bag in medium: We did take a look at this bag while we were in Chicago last month (there is no Prada boutique near where I live). However, it definitely wasn't on my purchase list anytime soon. A week before my birthday, for some odd reason, my husband decided to pull the trigger on this bag for me as a birthday/anniversary/Christmas gift this year (no complaints here!). I've mentioned before that my husband is someone who generally appreciates classic luxury goods whether they're for me or for him. As long as we take care of our family, he has no problem splurging here and there. To say that I am in love with the bag in a serious understatement =)
Ugg robe in baby pink: I got some birthday money from my in-laws so I spent it on this robe. I really needed a new bath robe and this one is amazing. I wish you could feel how soft it is through the computer screen. It definitely will keep me warm and cozy during the cold winter months.
Tarte Sculpt & Glow Radiant Essentials: I received this set from a good friend of mine and am really excited to try it out. Not being a makeup junkie, it's very hard for me to spend my own $$ on high-end make up products. Glad to have these beauties to play with.
Sephora birthday gift: A freebie c/o Sephora =)
Anastasia Beverly Hills lip gloss in orchird: Courtney spent her allowance to purchase this lip-gloss for me. It was so sweet of her!
