Fall Haul 2017

Today, I have a haul for you. You know I don't shop for clothes on a regular basis. I usually make one big purchase before our annual summer vacation and one in the Fall. All items in this haul are pretty affordable. I did a quick video to show you how they look on me. Hope you enjoy!

I purchased 3 pairs of jeans and 1 pair of trousers for the upcoming cold season. The jeans are basic without any bells or whistles. I wanted basic jeans that I can wear anywhere. They are high-waisted which is my favorite silhouette at the moment. high-waisted denim can give the illusion of an hourglass body shape. The striped pants fit amazingly and I am sure I will get a ton of wear out of them.
1. A&F high rise ankle jeans *size 00*
2. High waisted raw hem cropped leggings *size 00 - full length on me*
3. Topshop Jamie jeans *size 26x30 - the perfect length*
4. Express high-waisted ankle pants *size 00 short*

I picked up 2 sweaters and 1 cardigan from Shein and let me tell you, they're amazing. I said it before and I'll say it again, I feel like Shein has really stepped up their game. The styles are on point and prices are so affordable. I often find myself browsing their site. This ruffle sweater comes in 6 different colors and feels so nice in person. This orange sweater is absolutely perfect for Fall. I love the balloon sleeve trend and the funnel neck. This sweater would look amazing with a olive green suede mini skirt. Speaking of olive green, I also picked up this olive green cardigan. It's just a basic cardigan that everyone would need in their wardrobe. It's a lightweight cardigan that is perfect for this time of the year.
4. Shein ruffle sweater *size S - available in 6 colors*
5. Shein high-neck sweater *size S*
6. Shein olive green cardigan *size S - also available in egg plant*

I also picked 2 heavier cardigans for the colder months. First up is this gorgeous one from Express. It's so cozy and the color again is perfect for Fall. The second one is this cocoon cardigan from the kids department. I love the style and the length is perfect on me. This neutral piece will pair well with absolutely everything in my closet. I needed a silky camisole to go with all these cardigan so I picked up this lace-trim cami from A&F. I love the lace trim and it's great for layering. Last but not least is this Adidas sweatshirt. It is the perfect comfy throw on and go sweatshirt. It's so comfy and soft on the inside.

8. Old Navy cocoon cardigan *size L kids*
9. A&F lace trim cami *size XS*
10. Adidas sweatshirt *size XS*

Gucci price increase :: Marmont belt review

If you're a fan of Gucci then you're probably aware of their recent price increase (somewhere between 5%-15%). However, I notice department stores still have old prices on their sites. If you're been eyeing one of the bags below, act now before they update their prices.

Gucci Mini Marmont: Old price ($1590) vs. new price ($1690)
Gucci Soho Disco: Old price ($980) vs. new price ($1190)

My microblading experience

It's been almost 3 months since I got my eyebrows microbladed so I thought now is a good time to share my experience.

History: I got my eyebrows tattooed roughly 10 years ago (the old technique). They were completely faded prior to the treatment (as seen below). I had to fill in my brows every single day. It can be a daunting task. I knew I wanted to give microbladding a try but couldn't find someone that I am comfortable enough near where I live. A few months prior to my trip to FL, I did some research and finally settled on South Florida Microblading by Trish. You can see her amazing work here. Our trip was jam packed with activities and the only time I can get my brows done was at 7:00 p.m on Sunday 07.16. We texted back and forth and she was very accommodating. I got to her place around 7:00 p.m and 2.5 hours later, I walked out with my new brows.

What is microblading? Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup. A tiny blade is used to create hair-like feather strokes to mimic hairs.
How much did it cost? Microblading can run anywhere between $400 - $800 (for both the initial procedure and touch-up) depending on where you go. Trish charges $550. However since I knew I won't be able to go back to her for the touch up appointment, she only charged me $380 for the first appointment. I eventually found someone locally to do the touch-up and her price is $400 for both appointments.
Pre-care instructions:
- Do not pick/tweeze/wax one week before the procedure
- Do not tan or have any type of facial peel 2 weeks prior
- Do not have Botox 3 weeks prior
- To avoid bleeding, do not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen before the procedure (this thins the blood)
Does it hurt? No it doesn't but it stings really bad. I did not have any numbing cream (more info below). It feels like a paper cut but 100 times worse.
How long does it take? My initial appointment lasted 2.5 hours from start to finish. Trish took the first hour working on the drawing. The actual microblading procedure took about an hour as well.
The initial appointment: I had a few pictures on my phone but honestly, I just let her do her thing. After seeing her amazing work, I trust she knows what she's doing. The pigment: I believe we went with Phibrows "brown 2" mixed with one drop of Phibrows "brown 3". Trish is a certified Phibrows artist. Phibrows is probably one of the world's leading experts in the field of permanent makeup and microblading. They have training classes all over the world. I felt very confident that I made the right choice. She spent the 1st hour taking before pictures, drawing, perfecting every little detail and making sure we were happy 100% happy with the shape. Before starting the actual microblading process, she told me she prefers not to use numbing cream if I can tolerate the pain for the first 30 minutes. The reason is that numbing cream numbs your skin and it's harder to create natural-looking strokes. I agreed to go through with the process without numbing cream. After the first pass, she put a topical numbing cream on my brows and it helped tremendously.

Aftercare: After the procedure, she gave me some ointment along with aftercare instructions. The most difficult part of the healing process was avoid getting my brows wet for 10 days. I was sweating like a pig the next day at Disney (July is no joke in Florida). I brought a small towel with me to dap my brows throughout the day. Other than that, I did follow the instructions, applied ointment religiously and did not get my brows get for 10 days straight. After 5 days, the scabs started to peel off. This is when some of the "hair strokes" disappeared (see below)

Touch-up appointment: After 5 weeks, luckily, 80% of the pigment has retained but I did have some patchy spots. I called a couple of places and ultimately, booked my touch up appointment with Kelly @ Enduring Enhancements. She used the same pigments to fill those patches. My touch up appointment took roughly 30 minutes and she only charged me $50. I filmed a short clip to show you a closer look at my brows after 5 weeks.

Is microblading worth it? It really depends on your expectations and what you're trying to accomplish. For me, I basically had no brows prior to the procedure and spent 10 minutes every single day doing my brows. Now, I don't have to do anything with them on a regular basis. However, when I go out and wear more make up, I use this powder to touch them up. Regardless, they take me less than 2 minutes. If you expect those fine, crisp hair strokes to stay then you're in for a disappointment. They will fade and blend together over time. Depends on your skin type, the average length that brows last ranges from 12 to 18 months. Microblading delivered what I was looking for and am happy with the results. I hope you find this post helpful. If you have any questions regarding microblading in general, feel free to leave them below. If I have enough questions, Kelly said she will do a Q&A post.

Cami Crochet Dress :: Take 4

I know I blog about this dress to death but I can't help it. It's just simply amazing. The black version is my newest addition and I love it as much as the other 3. The cut of this one is slightly bigger but not enough to size down. Adjustable shoulder straps allow to make adjustment for perfect fit. While the blue and mint version are perfect for going out in the summer. The red and black version are great for the upcoming holiday season. Outfit details: Rosegal dress | Almost identical suede sandals | Tom Ford sunglasses | Chanel classic flap

Teddy Blake Caty Review

TeddyBlakeCaty_SydneysFashionDiaryemailLadies, today I have a handbag review for you. A few weeks ago, I received a request from a reader asking my thoughts on Teddy Blake handbags. I always strive to produce content that interests you so of course I had to do some research. I was curious about Teddy Blake handbags myself. I reached out to the company to see if they would be able to provide their Eva bag for review purposes. As you might recall, I own the Hermes Kelly. I wanted to compare the Teddy Blake Eva with my Hermes Kelly. However, the color I chose is on back order so they sent me the Caty instead.

Fall Trend :: The Velvet Bomber

As you might already know, velvet is huge right now. I spotted this velvet bomber jacket a few weeks ago and had to have it. The quality is amazing. The fabric is thick but comfortable to wear at the same time. It's 100% lined and will for sure keep you warm when the temperature dips in the 50s. Can we just take a moment to acknowledge how pretty the color is. It's perfect for Fall. The weather is still pretty warm in the Midwest but I can't wait to rock this with jeans and boots in a few weeks. Outfit details: Velvet bomber jacket *size S* | AE shorts | BP booties | ZeroUV sunglasses

Fall Staple :: The Long Cardigan

A long cardigan is a Fall staple and for some reason, it was missing from my closet. I recently picked up this striped one and can't be happier. The material is light weight which is perfect for this time of the year. The length is just right on my 5'2" frame. The color palette is neutral and goes with everything. One of the most essential items for Fall are cardigans and this one is the perfect addition to my closet. Outfit details: Rosegal cardigan | GAP tee | Zara leather pants *similar here* | White sunglasses

Sunday Giveaway

One of the perks of being a style blogger is getting PR packages. However, a lot of the items didn't make it to the blog for several reasons. 1. They don't fit right 2. They do not look like stock photos and/or 3. The quality is just bad in person. I receive packages on a weekly basis and just simply can't wear them all. I am toying with the idea of giving some of them away to you ladies. We'll see how it goes this time. If it goes well, I'll probably do it once a month. If not, we'll just forget about it =) I do want to mention that I only giveaway things that do not fit me right but the quality is somewhat decent. I feel like even though they don't fit me right, they might be great on someone else's body. Low quality items will go directly to the donation pile. If you're interested, please leave a comment below letting me know which item you would like to win (first come first serve basis - one item per per person please) ***All items have been claimed**

1. High-waisted pants *CLAIMED*: I absolutely love the look of these pants. They are so chic for work. Unfortunately, they're too big for me. The pants is unlined. However, the fabric is thick enough so no worries about seeing through. Measurements: waist = 14", length = 45"

2. Color-block bandage dress *CLAIMED*: I thought this dress is made out of the thick heavy bandage material (hence the name) but it's not. The fabric is a light-weight cotton. For $17, I think the quality is OK. The reason I am giving it away because it's a tad too small on me. If you're one size smaller, this dress would fit you better. The quality is nothing to write home about but it should last you a few night outs.

Cars that compliment my style

Today, I am thrilled to partner with Autotrader to talk about how cars compliment my style. Hubby and I undeniably have a thing for cars. We're very fortunate to be able to afford 2 brand new vehicles this year. When it comes to car buying, I definitely look for something that suits my style. In honor of NYFW, Autotrader selected 5 vehicles (2018 Lincoln Navigator, 2017 Nissan Maxima, 2017 Porsche Cayman, 2017 Mazda CX-5 and 2017 Volvo XC90 T8) for this campaign and the Volvo XC90 T8 reflects my style the most. An SUV has always been my preferred vehicle as long as I can remember. I drove the Audi Q7 for the past 5 years. I traded it in early this year for a Mercedes GLE350. Watch this video to see how your car can be your favorite accessory

Red flared trousers for Fall

I mentioned in this post that I was on the lookout for a pair of red trousers and guess what? I found them! They're amazing. I love skinny jeans but am also a fan of flared bottoms. These flared trousers are also high-waisted which help elongate my legs. They are great all around and the slim fit is spot on. The pants are unlined but the ponte-like material has great stretch and comfort. Red is a powerful color and I feel like a total girl boss wearing this outfit. If a leopard-print top is too much for you, you can tone it down with a simple white tee and throw on a denim jacket for a super cute Fall outfit. They unfortunately sold out so quickly but you can find a ton of other options available here. Outfit details: Shein pants | WHBM blouse | ZeroUV sunglasses

The best cami crochet dress for under $50

I hope you're not sick seeing this dress. I can't remember the last time I bought duplicates of anything. This dress is an exception. I love it so much that I now own it in all 3 colors. Read my initial review here if you'd like to know more about this dress. See the mint version on me hereOutfit details: Zaful dress *size S* | Almost identical suede sandals | Tom Ford sunglasses

Sumissura :: Design your perfect dress

As you might remember, I talked about Sumissura a couple of times in the past (here and here). I still love both coats and am looking forward to pull them out again in a few months. Imagine my excitement when Sumissura reached out to let me know the company now offers a board range of fully customizable dresses. I jumped at the chance and ordered a dress to try. I won't go into details about the process and how it works (you can read my initial reviews here and here). As expected, the entire process is pretty seamless and pleasant. After submitting my order, I got a shipping confirmation within a week. 3 days later, the package arrived at my doorstep (they ship via DHL).

Onto the dress, I have several sheath dresses that I rotate for work but all of them are sleeveless. I love the J.Crew cap-sleeve dress but it's either sold out in my size or not on sale. I decided to let Sumissura's seamstress do the magic and create a similar dress for me. As far as fit goes, no complaints from me. It fits just the way it's supposed to (form fitting but not too tight). The craftsmanship is impeccable. Stitches are finished without loose threads hanging at the end. The dress is fully lined. Overall, I feel great walking into the office in this dress.

Pre-Fall :: Olive green suede skirt

It's starting to feel like Fall in the Midwest. I am looking forward to all fun Fall traditions with my family. I got this olive green (faux) suede skirt last week and am in love. The feel of this skirt is incredible. The fabric is so soft and feels like real suede. Olive green is one of the best colors for Fall. It's also available in camel. I can't wait to pair it later in the season with a turtleneck sweater and a pair of OTK boots. Outfit details: Zaful skirt *size S* | Express bell sleeve blouse | Steve Madden wedges | ZeroUV sunglasses

5 non-clothing essentials for Fall

The first day of Fall is less than 2 weeks away so I though I'd share 5 non-clothing essentials for Fall with you. There is nothing new about these items. They have been talked about to death but I can't stress enough the importance of having these essentials in my closet. I am looking forward to bring them out again in a few weeks.

Fall essential # 1: A blanket scarf - No brainer, right? It can be worn so many ways and is a great way to add color and pattern to a basic outfit. There are tons of options out there and for the most part, they're pretty inexpensive as well.

Fall essential # 2: A wool hat - I was on the hunt for a wool hat this Fall and picked up this one last week. I am in love. It's gorgeous in person and the price is right. This hat is available in 4 colors. It's a little big on me but I use this trick and it works like a charm. I might have to pick up the grey version as well
Fall essential # 3: Fashion tights - Fall is the perfect time to rock sheer tights. Patterned tights are the easiest way to elevate your Fall outfits. I did a review for Berkshire tights last year and am thrilled for the opportunity to try a few pairs from their Fall collection. The sheer dots tights are perfect for this time of the year when temperatures in the 50s and 60s. They add a fun element to any outfit. What I love about Berkshire tights is that they have so many options to choose from. The easy on version is great for everyday wear. The moisture wicking material keeps you cool and dry. When the temperature drops into the 30s, the cozy hose is the perfect option. As its name suggest, these are opaque tights with fleece-lined legs. They feel so soft against the skin and are so comfortable to wear. As mentioned in the review, Berkshire tights are available in petite, regular and tall sizes.

Birthday Girl :: 5 random facts about me

..So I turned a year older today. We already celebrated with my family and a few close friends this past weekend. I am going out for lunch with some of my coworkers today and just simply enjoying the day. If you've been following my blog for awhile, then you know I am a private person. I don't share my personal life too much on social media. We live in a judgmental society (sad but true). In this day and age, people are oversharing on SM. Sometimes, it's good to take a step back and realize it's OK not to share. At the end of the day, no one really cares about your personal life. However, in honor of my birthday (lol!), I am going to share 5 random facts about me. Before I start, I wanted to quickly talk about this dress. It's the same dress I wore in this post in a different color. I have 2 other colors coming in the mail =) Is it excessive? Probably so but I love it so much. For under $35, I highly recommend this dress.

Current Favorites

Today, I wanted to share a few of my current favorites. These are things I use and enjoy daily.

1. Dove dry spray antiperspirant: I've been using this products for almost 2 months now and I love it. It's so easy to use and dries super fast (no waiting time to get dressed). The scent smells wonderful and is not overpowering. This product keeps me dry all day. Dove spray does not contain alcohol which I like. Hubby is using the men version and he's a fan as well.

2. Knot earrings from Layered and Simple: If you've been following my blog for awhile then you know I love stud earrings. That's all I wear. Thanks to Lisa from Layered and Simple for sending over this gorgeous pair of knot earrings. They're amazing in person and I can't stop wearing them. Another favorite is the Bon Bon earringsLayered and Simple carries a large selection of trendy jewelry pieces if you are interested in checking her shop out.

Floral dress :: Labor Day sales

This floral dress is the last dress I received from VIPShop (see the first one here and the second one here). It's my least favorite piece so I won't go into detail too much. The style is cute and would be a great piece for work. However, the bottom part is see-through. I don't mind wearing a slip underneath but sometimes, it's good just not too worry about it. If you're interested in other dresses or anything from VIPshop, please use code SYDNEY675 to get $5 off on orders over $50. On a different note, I am so happy to have an extra day off from work. We have a fun day full of activities planned with friends and family. I wanted to quickly share a few notable sales just in case you're interested. Wishing everyone a happy Labor Day!

STORE 5a :: Authentic . Preowned . Luxury

{Hubby is wearing this Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch}

As you might remember I wrote a post sharing my tips and tricks for buying pre-loved luxury handbags here. Today, I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with STORE 5a to share my thoughts when it comes to buying luxury accessories. STORE 5a is the first (that I know of) trusted source in the secondary market for luxury accessories located in Columbus, OH. My husband and I had the pleasure to spend the afternoon with the team and we enjoyed every minute of it. Owning classic luxury pieces like a Rolex watch or a Cartier Love bracelet has always been a dream of mine. As beautiful and timeless as they are, they do come with a hefty price tag. I certainly don't mind pre-owned pieces. My handbag collection is a mixture of both. Even though not everything worth buying pre-owned, I truly believe you can get exactly what you want for less if you have the patience and are willing to do extensive research. Below are a few things I'd consider before buying my next luxury piece:

Buy from a trusted source: As mentioned previously, I can't stress enough the importance of buying your luxury items from a trusted source. With Diamond Cellar’s expert watch and jewelry shop, appraisal team and buying staff, STORE 5a had everything they needed to help customers buy and sell jewelry in a safe and trustworthy environment. Each pre-owned jewelry item comes with an appraisal. Appraisals are performed by a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America.

A TJ Maxx find :: Floral jumpsuit

Just a quick post today to show you a random find I spotted recently at my local TJ Maxx. The truth is...I love TJ Maxx. You never know what you're going to find there. They have lovely surprises throughout the store and who doesn't love a good deal, right? You know I have a thing for jumpsuits and rompers. I'll never get enough of them. When I spotted this jumpsuit, I was immediately drawn to it and knew it was coming home with me. The bottom is partial lined which I love. It gives the illusion of longer legs without looking overexposed. The brand is Sienna Sky and I paid $25 for it =) I can't find the exact one online but you can check out their jumpsuit section here. Remember I talked about one of the biggest trends this Fall is dark florals here? This jumpsuit can easily be worn in fall with a denim or leather jacket.
