What to wear when you’re expecting (Part I): Blazers

I've had a few emails from readers asking how to get the most out of the clothing budget. I decided to put together series of posts on what I thought would be helpful to others in terms of what to wear when you’re expecting. Of course, I'm still figuring things out so any thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

The essential maternity pieces for spring/summer

Memorial Day weekend is almost here and some of the stores already started offering promotions and discounts. I've picked up a few maternity pieces here and there recently. I thought I’d share with you petite mamas-to-be so that you can take advantages of these sales as well.

These tees are very soft and comfy. The material is a bit thin but not translucent. I ordered a size XS for both and they’re a bit big for me at the moment. I am going to keep them because I know they will eventually fit towards the end of my pregnancy. I haven’t worn them yet but they probably will shrink a bit after washed. This is a great basic tee for everyday wear and you sure can't beat the price.

Weekend in iPhone Pics!

This weekend flew by quick! We're getting some really great warm weather here in the Midwest. Here is a little glimpse into what we did this weekend

# 1: We got up early on Saturday and did some furniture shopping for the nursery
# 2: Stopped by my parents' at lunch for some yummy "banh xeo" (Asian crispy fried pancakes)
# 3 and # 4: Beautiful roses from my parents' backyard
# 5 and # 6: I got Essie Fiji after I heard a lot of people recommending it. It's quickly become my go-to spring/summer color for me
#7: The highlight of our weekend was meeting up with the talented SewPetiteGal. We met at lunch today for some "pho" and I had a great time chatting with her. I am sure the husband did too =). Wearing: BB Dakota Lynette dress, H&M denim jacket, Mossimo sandals, Zara clutch, Kate Spade Gayla sunnies
#8: Thanks, S! for the very lovely gift.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

My two-year blogiversary (and a few changes)

I started in May 2010 without having a proper plan. Two years ago, blogging was relatively new to me. I had a point and shoot camera and a closet full of clothes so I thought I'd start a fashion blog. It wasn’t that easy. I went through many trials and errors. In my wildest dreams, I never thought I would reach the 1000-follower mark. I still remember who was my 18th follower (Hi, Cher!). Over the past 2 years, I have had many ups and downs. I've learned how to take better photos, how to write better content, what to put and what not to put on this blog. I've met some incredible sweet readers via social networking sites as well as down-to-earth bloggers in real life. The idea of meeting new people on the Internet doesn't sound so crazy after all.

After 2 years of blogging, I think I have a pretty good idea of what this blog is all about. There are a few things I’d like to change in the near future. The first thing I’d like to change is my blog name. As stated above, when I first started blogging, I had no clue what I was doing. I knew I wanted to focus on petite fashion. For some odd reason, PetiteLittleGirl (PLG) was the first thing that came to mind. I never thought it would attract so many Google searches that I am pretty sure I wasn't the one who they searched for. I've put some thought into my new blog name lately. I am excited to announce that PetiteLittleGirl will soon become Sydney’s Fashion Diary. This time, I wanted something that was a bit more generic (fashion diary) with a personal twist (Sydney). Sydney’s Fashion Diary is a place for me to share my thoughts on fashion and style with like minded people. I know it’s not very creative but this will do for now. I am working on a new layout as well as changing the web address. Hopefully, everything will come together in the next few weeks.

The second thing I’d like to address is to answer the question that I've received from multiple readers - Will I continue to blog for the rest of my pregnancy? The original plan was to take a break from blogging until the baby is born. I don’t know how many of you would be interested in maternity wear and frankly, I don't have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to maternity clothes. However, after my pregnancy announcement, I received an incredible amount of comments/emails asking for maternity wear advice. It caught me completely by surprise. I'm touched and humbled by your kindness and support. Therefore, I decided to continue to blog during my last trimester. I won’t be blogging as often as I used to. Although, you probably have noticed that I was slowing down quite a bit lately. If I see something that worth mentioning, I will certainly share them here on this blog.

Sorry for the super wordy post. Pat yourself on the back if you actually read all of this. Trust me, I am pretty quiet in real life =) Again, I would like to thank each and everyone of you who follow me. This blog will not be the same without you. I truly appreciate your support and hope you will continue on the journey with me.

 Much love,

We're expecting!

I can’t hide my tummy anymore so I guess, I'll spill the news =) We’re expecting! Yes, my husband and I are beyond thrilled to announce – we’re having another baby! I know I talked about having a second child a few times on Twitter but I still can’t believe it’s happening. Before getting pregnant, I thought this pregnancy might not be as excited as my first one. Wrong! Every experience of this pregnancy is just as good as the first one.

What I am wearing:
Jacket: H&M denim jacket - size 4
Necklace: c/o Kate and Soo's Etsy shop
Sandals: Steve Madden (buy similar)
Purse: J.Crew Tillary tote

My Spring/Summer Wish-list

I am a huge fan of having a fashion wish-list. My Fall/Winter wish-list from last year helped tremendously. I find that wish-list helps me focus on what I need and stops me from making impulse purchases. It’s important to figure out what your personal style is. Once you have a strong sense of what you like and what suits you, you’re less likely to spend money following trends that don't work for you.

I started my Spring/Summer wish-list a few months ago but had to make a few changes. I am halfway done finding and purchasing items on my wish-list so I thought I’ll share the list with you.

1. Pastel skinny jeans (American Eagle skinnies in yellow zest - see them here)
2. A new work bag (J.Crew Tillary tote - see it here)
3. A pair of cap-toe flats (purchased - see my review here)
4. A pair of pointy pumps (purchased - review is coming soon)

{Wish-list item # 5 - H&M denim jacket, Wish-list item # 6 - Kate Spade Gayla sunglasses}

5. A denim jacket (purchased- review is coming soon)
6. A new pair of sunglasses (purchased - review is coming soon)
7. Maxi dresses
8. Something polka dots
9. Longchamp Planete Large Tote
10. Some new (chunky) jewelry

As you can see, items on my wish-list aren’t something out of the ordinary. These are items that I don’t already have in my closet. Of course, money can't buy you style, it’s not what you wear sometimes but the way you wear it.

Readers, what do you wish for this season?

Feminine meets Masculine

I absolutely love this time of year - flowers are blooming, breezy beautiful weather, everything feels new and fresh. Personally, I think spring allows a lot more options for playing with your personal style. I absolute adore this H&M floral dress I picked up a few weeks ago (still available in-store). This is one of my favorite recent purchases and I'm sure it'll become my go- to spring/summer dress.

Review: Adrienne Vittadini Vicky flats and Me Too Karlie 2 flats

A pair of cap toe flats is definitely on my shopping list for this season. Bloggers are sporting them everywhere. From flats to pumps, these cap toe shoes are making their mark. After searching for a few weeks, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Adrienne Vittadini Vicky flats in Taupe via Hautelook.

{Showing: Adrienne Vittadini Vicky flats in Taupe}

What attracts me most to these is the dual-tone in classic colors. These flats have the perfect blend of beige and black going on. They have a classic and modern look about them all at the same time. The bows add a feminine touch to these flats. They are absolutely adorable and will be a great neutral that will pair with most anything. Just for reference, I try to find shoes that don't show toe-cleavage. These particular flats are perfect for my feet.

As far as the fit goes, these are certainly on the wider side. I'm generally anywhere between a 6.5 and 7, depending on the shoes. I ordered these in a size 7. The length isn't so bad as much as the wideness of the width. They don't slip off my heel when I walk and I don't have any problems walking in them. However, there is a bit of a gap between them and my feet. The gaping doesn't bother me though since I don't have any problems walking in them. I already wore them 5 times and they perfectly stay on my feet. Aside from this issue, they are such good quality and so well-made, soft leather and very comfy. Overall, I am happy with this purchase but wouldn't recommend them to someone with more narrow feet.

I ordered the Me Too Karlie 2 flats in Driftwood for my Mom as part of her Mother's Day gift. They just arrived today. I am a huge fan of Me Too shoes. Between my Mom and I, we own 5 pairs of Me Too shoes/flats. They fit quite true to size. This has been true of every pair of Me Too we have ever owned. My Mom's feet are a bit smaller than mine. I ordered these in a 6 for her. They have thick cushion inside so your feet are very comfortable and are truly supported. These flats are very well made, the perfect combination of comfort/style and they're overall beautiful.

Readers, are you a fan of cap-toe shoes?
